Symonds & Sampson
a firm of surveyors…

Not Sportsmen!

Volleyball Skittles

A brave team took on the Battens Volleyball Tournament After a roaring start against
for the first time. Sadly, we didn’t claim the trophy but Albert Goodman the
with the superb coaching of Jan Merriott, who had to team decided we should
retire from playing early after a few heroic dives, we did keep up our losing streak
qualify in our heat and beat the hosts! At last a win for and throw a few stray
Symonds & Sampson! balls. Ross Willmington
managing to score an
104 impressive zero with one
hand. Needless to say,
Albert Goodman – 1,
Symonds & Sampson – 0.

Golf Croquet

Our annual outing at the Farnfields Solicitors Charity Golf A little known secret is that Moore Blatch Solicitors
Day saw Messrs. Robinson, Carless, Miller and Thorner in Lymington have their very own croquet lawn
gather at the lovely Rushmore course on the Wiltshire/ at the back of their office. However, we quickly
Dorset border. Despite the odd foray into the rough discovered this meant they had A LOT of time to
and water, the team managed a decent-ish score – no practise. Their balls effortlessly leapfrogged ours
silverware but no wooden spoon either, and a worthy in going through the hoops as we struggled to
cause to support Mosaic, a local charity supporting stroke in a straight line (we think that is the correct
bereaved children. term!) Another gracious defeat for S&S.

Cricket

We played two matches this year, one against local
builders CG Fry and the other against Palmers Brewery.
Perhaps inevitably we lost both, with some dubious
fielding from Jim Rowe, but with some smashing batting
from (notably) Ricky Stoodley we did at least give both
teams a run for their money.
