Dear Parents

We are having a lovely time with our
Gingerbread man! We would like him to

stay with us a little longer and will
continue with this theme next week.

LITERACY:

An update of the learning this week:
 Story: The Gingerbread Man
 Rhymes: Pat a cake, Hot cross bun
 Introduced letter sound ‘a’.

A preview of next week’s plan:
 Introducing first sounds.
 Syllable clapping using names of objects in the class and around the school.
 Introduce letter sound ‘o’.
 Pre-writing activities like doodling, kneading dough, squeezing sponge
 Introduce greetings in Arabic.

NUMERACY:

An update of the learning this week:
 Number rocket 1- 10.
 Concept of number values with Numicon.
 Reinforcing sleeping, standing and slanting lines

A preview of next week’s plan:

 Shape – Circle
 Colour – Red
 Pattern sequencing
 Reinforcing values with Numicon and blocks.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE WORLD:

An update of the learning this week:
 To understand and experience the touch and smell of a cookie.
 Exploring the various areas of the school through the Gingerbread Man hunt

A preview of next week’s plan:
 Observe the changes when a cookie is dipped in water.
 Looking for circles in the environment.
 Discuss ingredients required to bake a gingerbread man cookie

Special Activities

• 22 April 2016 – Earth Day was celebrated on 20th April 2016.
• 21 April 2016 – Trip to Heritage Village.
• 26 April 2016 – Red Day – Children will come dressed in Red

coloured clothes.
• We will be baking Gingerbread man shaped cookies in school.

It will be an eggless preparation. All ingredients will be
provided by the school.
• Do let us know if your child is allergic to cookies.
