SNAKES AS A PET?
“HISS!” That sounds scary right? Are you afraid of snakes? Well no need to fear them! Did
you know snakes are amazing reptiles that have no legs or arms? Have you ever been
face-to-face with a snake? What did you do? I bet you were scared, unless you own a
pet snake and that’s exactly what I’m going to be talking about today! Snakes are cold-
blooded animals that can raise and lower their body temperature to adapt to the
environment that would be perfect as a pet. How many snake’s species do you think
exist? If your answer is less than 500 then you are wrong! There are over 3000 species of
snakes throughout the globe! I’m sure you didn’t see that coming. Snakes might be a
monster to you, but to me, they are just a creature that is afraid as we are to each other.
No matter your home temperature or environment you can keep these creatures
whether your house has a garden as big as a forest, a pond as big as a lake, or just a
nice box that seems comfy. These creatures can live in all environment EXCEPT for cold
places. Have you ever seen a snake in Antarctica? What type of snakes would go hiking
in the mountains? Imagine that! Even in Ireland or New Zealand doesn’t have snakes.
There might be one fear of all you have against snakes, venom. Not the movie Venom
but snake poisonous venom. I have experience facing a king cobra at my home before
and it was just minding its own stuff so I advise you to never just panic and attack when
you see a snake, just carefully grab a bucket and slowly get the snake into the bucket
and free it unless it was threatening you. Yes, there are many snakes that can be
poisonous but why you want to pick a poisonous snake out of all the other snakes? Unless
your body does not react to venom or you have contact with special pet trainers. I know,
sound ridiculous to train a snake but it is a possibility! Did you know snakes don’t need
much feeding as cats and dogs? They also consider hibernating. They are not noisy so
don’t mind a little snake just slithering around your kitchen floor. They are just…curious.
Unless you have a rattle snake. Its already in the name, “Rattle” so if you like music, this is
your partner.
There are a few poisonous snakes that can be tamed such as pythons or cobras. Make
sure you are a professional snake trainer or have contact with one like I said earlier. It
may seem like it is hard to keep one of these creatures but it is actually not! Keeping a
snake may have a lot of responsibilities but they can be really helpful too.
In conclusion, they make amazing household pets and I consider you have one because
they can keep the rats away. They have no fur so if you allergic to fur, this is a pet that is
specially for you.
That’s all from me and my slithering speech. Thank you.
