Pat is a Rockhampton local that moved
back to town after a stint in Brisbane.
While living in Brisbane he did some
volunteering for the Starlight Foundation
which is where he honed his variety of
skills such as performing magic, singing,
playing the ukulele, face painting and
other kids entertainment.
This dynamic duo are making a
difference in hundreds of young lives,
every year by bringing light into what
can be a traumatic period for young
patients.
“It is an awesome way of giving back for
me and I think I get as much out of it as
the kids do,” she shared.
There is a wide range of age groups and
illnesses in the childrens ward, so each
day is filled with different activities and
changing their approach to tailor what
they do for each child’s interests.

have built up my costume making skills
over the years.
“I just like hobbies, I like sewing and
building stuff and cosplay is one of
those things that encompasses a wide
variety of skills,” said Aliciah.
Aliciah met a lot of her friends at
other cosplay conventions and will be
travelling to Rockhampton in April to
attend CapriCon - an event that she
absolutely loves.
CapriCon will be held on Saturday,
6 April at the Rockhampton
Showgrounds so you have plenty of
time to start creating your costume and
join the amazing, creative community
of people who attend.
“It is a really encouraging and positive
group of people where people accept
you for whoever you want to be which
is really nice to be part of,” Aliciah says.
Aliciah and Pat have been generously
volunteering their time and skills for
over a year and encourage others to
do the same as there is a need for
more volunteers in the Paediatric
department.
