DAY 1

FISHING THE FITZROY

The Rockhampton Region is home of the Fitzroy River and the mighty
Barramundi! Rockhampton is the only place in Australia where you can fly
in, check in and boat out in less than an hour thanks to the Fitzroy River’s
location next to the CBD. explorerockhampton.com.au/fishing

CBD FISHING

Launch your boat from the Quay Street boat ramp. If you don’t have
your own boat, no problem! You can hire a fishing charter or you can fish
straight from the riverbank for both barramundi and king threadfin.
Quay Street boat ramp, Littler Cum-Ingham Park, Rockhampton
If it’s barramundi you’re after, cast a lure near the rocky areas of small
creek mouths such as Moores Creek (on a rising high tide), and for king
threadfin, focus on areas where they are likely to be chasing prawns such
as from The Common area (near the North Rockhampton Boat Ramp).
