HOLIDAY VENTURES By Katrina Faisal Holidays are usually the best time when families and friends make time to gather and do things together. They will think of various activities on how to spend the time. Some may like to stay home while many others like to travel. Destinations can be local and abroad. Theme parks, waterfalls and beaches are favourite places that offer fun and enjoyment. As consumers, people should be careful in making their decisions in looking for adventures to enjoy themselves or to have some feelings of adrenalin rush whenever they can get the chance. There are unforeseen circumstances that can change happiness into trauma and sadness. For example, there have been a number of drowning cases that happened when the adults turned their backs for a moment. Accidents or unfortunate incidents can happen but taking precautions before undertaking adventures may reduce some risks. Parents with young children should be more attentive when their children are in the water, be it at the sea, waterfalls or pools. Monsoon seasons can cause stormy weather and rough water at sea so it is wise to avoid fishing or boating. Continuous heavy rains will possibly result in floods and landslides. It is also important to think of safety issues while travelling. One is for you to do a research of the place you are going to know what to expect there. You should be aware of the cleanliness of food and drinks you take to prevent food poisoning or diarrhea. Another necessary step is to ensure the safety of your money, credit cards and personal documents. It is also advised not to use public wi-fi as well as to inform friends and family members of your whereabouts, especially when you are travelling alone. In conclusion, holidays are joyful when everything goes without a hitch. Hence, there is a need to plan well and take precautions in all aspects.

Realising that we could not do anything else, Farid asked the three of us to start walking while he continued to distract the monkeys. (38) We were so worried that the monkeys would attack us. We came to the end of the trail when we reached the quiet and isolated shore of Kerachut Beach. (39) Then, we found a spot where we could take a rest after the tiring hike. Gold Gold is a precious, valuable metal and it is often used as a symbol of wealth, success and power. It makes a great investment as the price of gold fluctuates but rarely drops so much as below par. People usually invest in gold bullion bars or coins although gold jewellery is also popular. The jewellery can be traded for money during deflation or in times of need. In its raw form, this versatile yellow metal is a good conductor of electricity and heat which is the reason it is used particularly in electrical industry. It is also applied in dental technology. As gold does not react with moisture, it does not rust or tarnish. Another advantage of gold is that it is flexible and pliable making the metal easy to work with. Gold is also strong enough to hold precious stones and when combined with silver, it produces white gold while copper creates a reddish tinge. It can be designed into whatever shapes.
