English Year 4 Module 2 My Week
Read the story. Then, answer the following questions. Notes
Once, a little boy called Mowgli got lost in
the jungle. A family of wolves found him. Father
Wolf and Mother Wolf decided to adopt him. They
wanted to protect him from Shere Khan, the tiger
who had killed Mowgli‘s parents. Shere Khan wants
to kill Mowgli too.
One day, all the animals gathered at
Council Rock. They had to decide if Mowgli should
stay in the jungle or be sent back to the Man
village. The animals were worried that they could
not protect Mowgli from Shere Khan.
“Mowgli does not need to go back to the Man village. Bagheera and I can take care of him,”
said Baloo, the bear.
Bagheera, the panther, agreed with him. Mowgli happily went to live with them. Baloo and
Bagheera taught Mowgli how to survive in the jungle.
One day, Mowgli was kidnapped by a group of monkeys. He was taken to the Cold Lairs. When
Baloo and Bagheera found out what happened, they went to ask for help from Kaa, the rock snake.
The three of them then managed to save Mowgli from the monkeys.
After that, they all agreed that it would be safer for Mowgli to live in the village. Mowgli went and
lived in the village with a woman named Messua. She claimed that Mowgli was her son, Nanthoo.
She raises Mowgli as a human.
One day Baloo and Bagheera met Mowgli in the village. They told him that Shere Khan was
hiding and waiting to kill him. Mowgli then stole the Red Flower, which is a vessel containing fire.
Then all three of them trapped Shere Khan. Mowgli used the fire to kill Shere Khan.
Mowgli then said goodbye to his friends. He then returned to the Man village.
