MESSAGE FROM GRAND PRESIDENT
KATHY BIZOUKAS

May 21, 2022

Dear Sisters,

Christ is Risen! Χριστός Ανέστη!
What a year this has been! WE ARE BACK!

I want to personally thank you for RE-IGNITING your
chapters and districts to “Keep Moving Forward.”
Penelope’s Scroll, the Daughters of Penelope Community Semi-Annual
Newsletter is used as a network platform or a “recipe” book between sisters,
chapters, and districts to showcase what we do. It is the worldwide “chat”
place.

I am so proud of all the work each of you show with pictures, articles, and
sharing of the so-called recipes to fundraising ideas, tips to communicate,
and just sharing the passion of the Daughters of Penelope.

This year may be coming to an end but the Daughters of Penelope will
continue… It was my honor to serve the Daughters of Penelope as Grand
President this year. I may not be Grand President next year, but I will always
be a daughter in my heart.

“LET’S CONTINUE TO KEEP OUR LIGHT SHINING BRIGHT!"

Love In Theta Pi,

Alpheus Chapter #180

Memphis, Tennessee

The Alpheus Chapter #180 in Memphis, TN has been hard at work to keep all our
wonderful members connected and striving to fulfill our local and national
obligations! Our Easter Bake Sale featuring Tsourekia and koulourakia has been a
favorite amongst our community! We offered our Daughters DoorDash Delivery
again and were able to reach those that could not come to us. It brought many
smiles to all to know they can partake in tradition even if they can’t leave their
home. Our 2nd annual Easter Candles (Lampathes) Sale was a great hit and has
charmed young and old. It’s a beautiful sight to behold during the receiving of the
Holy Light. We continue to brainstorm and bring our hearts together to be able to
help the less fortunate, the people in need of assistance and those who need
guidance. It’s imperative that we reach out to all those in need.

We hope and pray that everyone is keeping in good health and that we continue
trying to make the world a better place for all. Congratulations to all the graduates!
Have a lovely Summer!

Alethia Chapter #302

Columbia, South Carolina

Greetings! Our Alethia chapter has had a busy and productive year so far.
We initiated two new members in February and planned our first fundraising
event in several years. Our Wine & Jazz event was held the evening of Friday,
April 29th and was a great success! Contributions were $25 a ticket. We planned
for 100 and sold 119! Toula Kalatzis was our chairperson and with her enthusiasm
and drive, the rest of our Sisters came together to promote and pull-off an
unforgettable evening of music, wine, and hors d’oeuvres.

May: Our 3rd Annual Blood Drive is scheduled.
June: A Spring Tea is planned for our AHEPA home residents.

We look forward to what the rest of the year holds in store!

Message from District Governor
Effie Kirkiles

In 2022, the Sisters of District 2 continued
their involvement in their communities in
every aspect, whether it was in person or on
social media.

In person, our chapter officers were diligent in
hosting scholarship events, tea socials, fashion
shows as well as donating to local charities.
Some of the organizations were Women in
Distress, PACE, Kids First Program, AVDA,
Alzheimer’s, local schools, and our churches.
Our online presence continued with our
Facebook and Instagram accounts. We even
created a new website for our District
www.dopd2.com. We didn't stop there–we
also did a live YouTube video on “Balance in
Today’s Society.”

With some of these in person and media
platforms we wanted to share the mission of
the Daughters of Penelope.

We cannot wait to see you all in July for the
Supreme Convention. Come join us for a
“Killer” night of entertainment on 07/18 for a
1920’s Murder Mystery Comedy Show. Please
check out our website for ticket information.

See you real soon!

Periboea Chapter #62

Tarpon Springs, Florida

January may ring in the New Year, but in Tarpon Springs, it also heralds the joyous
Epiphany celebration. For the Daughters, this means many hours of help with the
annual AHEPA Open House Coffee and Banquet. Our chapter also provided a special
luncheon for all security personnel.
In February, the annual Membership Tea resulted in 18 new members. The beautifully
executed theme of “Sisterly Love” reminded us of our sisterhood and shared
commitment to the DOP mission.
As always, our chapter participated in the Greek Independence Day parade and hosted
a Salutations Coffee Hour during Orthodox Lent.
Our annual Palm Sunday Flower Sale scholarship fundraiser was a sellout. Along with a
very successful TV raffle, the chapter was able to award two $1500 scholarships to two
female students from Tarpon Springs High School. We also provided three $100 awards
to graduating students from St. Nicholas Greek School.
After our final meeting of the year, 2022-23 Board elections, and another initiation
ceremony, for a total of 26 new members, we took time to celebrate our successes. We
closed another productive year of service to our community with a tasting at the Tarpon
Distillery and our annual end-of-year luncheon.

Narcissus Chapter # 289

Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Hello Sisters!!

We kicked off the New Year with the celebration of our chapter’s 64th Birthday and
honoring our first President, Elizabeth “Betty” Athanasakos (PGP)! Our chapter was
established on December 8, 1957. In 1965, during the first Supreme Convention which
was held in Athens, Greece, Elizabeth Athanasakos was elected Grand President! She
believed in empowering women and recognizing them for their own merits. She also
helped establish The Salute to Women. Today, our chapter has grown to 87 amazing
women because of the groundwork laid out by our sisters who came before us.

We also attended the Leda Chapter’s Fashion Show in WPB which was very elegant and
wonderful to be with our sisters across the district. We reconnected with old friends and
made new ones! During Lent we sold luminaries which were displayed around the
church on Holy Friday. It was beautiful to see them lit up with loved one’s names
displayed on them.

In addition, we continue to build a bond with the Maids of Athena and Sons of Pericles
as well as our local AHEPA chapter by supporting each other at events. Our sisters have
big hearts and continue to give selflessly to our community and church.

Cassandra Chapter #372

Boca Raton, Florida

Cassandra Chapter #372 continues to grow and Indian Pines Elementary,
stay active in our Boca Raton community and New Members
with our church. January allowed us to help
Saint Mark with its annual Greek Festival. Wow, Scholarship Dinner/Dance
what a turnout of guests and of brothers and
sisters volunteering over the course of four days.
We rested for a minute then February afforded
us the opportunity to grow as a chapter. We
initiated 3 new members during our February
meeting. We also got to revisit our adopted
school in Lake Worth. Indian Pines Elementary
accepted our Valentine Goody bags with much
love. The roaring 20’s was next on our agenda.
With guests from the District Lodge and our
neighboring chapters the Ahepa/DOP Annual
Scholarship Dinner/Dance was a Great Gatsby
success ;). March kept us active as many sisters
attended a wonderful, amazing, beautiful and
elegant fashion show hosted by Leda Chapter
#59. We grew once more in April with 2
initiations at our meeting. Additionally,
representatives from OCMC visited our church
this month, and on April 9 we hosted a lent
friendly cocktail hour which included an
informative presentation from OCMC
members. Lastly, we are co-hosting the District
2 Convention… hope to see you in Boca Raton
in June.

Message from District Governor
Sondra Sealine

What a year this has been! Last September we still had uncertainties about the
pandemic but soon discovered that not only could we hold meetings and scaled-down
fundraisers, but also initiate new members and grow the Chapters and District. Several
Chapters were unsure that they would be able to hold on, but they did and seem
confident about the future.

District 3 is growing in another way also: reactivation of Maids chapters. Muses # 22 of
Washington DC reactivated last year. DOP Helle #283, Alexandria VA is currently
finalizing application to reactivate Cassiopeia #205. And, most recently, Persephone
#144, Charlotte, NC, is starting reactivation. Congratulations to all who are diligently
working to make this happen!

Sisters of Alcmene #27 and District 3 Lodge marched together in the Baltimore Greek
Parade on March 27. Charis Eleni #337 enjoyed filling plastic eggs and bags for its Easter
Egg Hunt. DG Sondra attended the 100th Anniversary celebration of AHEPA Marathon
#2 in Charlotte, NC.

The year ends on a positive and upbeat note. Let’s keep this going so next September
we start the 2022-2023 year refreshed, renewed, and inspired!

CAPITAL DISTRICT #3

Hermione Chapter #11

Washington, DC

We managed to hold the majority of our activities via zoom. However, as we have begun
to emerge, we have held several in person events. We hosted a fundraising “Dine Out” at
Potomac Pizza on May 23, 2022. On June 18, 2022, we enjoyed our first meeting and end
of the year social at Trapezaria, in Rockville, MD. What an enjoyable day!

We would like to recognize and thank several of our sisters for their dedication and help
to our sisterhood. Sister Georgeanne Patmios kept us all in touch with each other by
setting up and hosting all of our zoom meetings throughout this trying period of Covid.
We don’t know what we would have done without her help.
Much thanks to Sister Janis Anderson for taking on the Sunshine Committee. Her
dedication kept our sisters informed and connected. She contacted our members who
do not have access to the Internet, she sent cards and notes, and made personal
contact with our sisters who were in need of a little cheer. We know it was really
appreciated.
Finally, we would like to honor our chapter Penelope of the Year, Sister Susan
Cymek. She has meticulously managed our treasury for the last several years and
researched and organized our historical financial and membership records. She has
organized and coordinated events and fundraising projects. Her leadership, friendship,
and devotion to our chapter is a blessing. Axios!

Helle Chapter #283

Falls Church, Virginia

It is hard to believe that we are concluding our 2021-2022 business year. It’s been a busy
one with a combination of virtual and in-person meetings and activities as we
continued to navigate restrictions due to the pandemic.

Sisters in Helle Chapter rose to the challenge to fundraise, socialize, conduct business
and give to many philanthropic projects. Our year began supporting National DOP by
donating to the Greece Wildfire Relief Fund, organizing a shoe and clothing drive for a
local shelter, and enjoying an educational presentation by Sister Victoria Cherpes on
why strength training is important for women. Our fundraising efforts brought in over
$7,500 which allowed us to donate locally to organizations supporting victims of
domestic violence and individuals facing food insecurity as well as to St. John
Orphanage in Kenya. We also donated to IOCC and World Central Kitchen
earmarked for Ukraine Relief. Our biggest success was bringing to life Sister Effie
Wingate’s idea to sell a chapter scarf featuring Sister Barbara Koltos’ creative design
(see the photos below). We also continued to sell our “Secrets of Penelope” herbs. We
wish all Daughters of Penelope and AHEPA Chapters a great summer!

Symbolism of the Helle Chapter Scarf:
The color violet symbolizes Domestic Violence Awareness
The violet flower epitomizes all of the virtues of Penelope. The sweet-scented violet
flower symbolizes truth and loyalty, while also embodying a sense of modesty,
spiritual wisdom and humility.
The Greek Key is known to symbolize eternity and unity because of the continuous
fine pattern. It also reflects the heritage of Daughters of Penelope.

Arion Chapter #298

Silver Spring, Maryland

Dear Sisters,

It has been a pleasure to serve our sisterhood as chapter president of Arion #298 for the
past few years. I have relied on my sisters even in personal hardship, losing my beautiful
son Paul, last July. I am deeply honored and humbled by our Capital District 3 Lodge
naming the AHEPA K-9 for Warriors dog after my son. I look forward to continuing my
service to the Daughters of Penelope and I'd like to thank my fellow officers and my
chapter for their love and support.

In January we lost one of our sisters too soon, Sophia Ward. May her memory be
Eternal. She will truly be missed.

We had a meeting in April and voted for our new chapter officers and during our end of

year party in May our new 2022-2023 officers were sworn into office:
Pauline Fotos-Magnant, President
Eva Theologus, Vice President
Angela Zambetis, Treasurer
Angel Frangos-Papaspyrou, Corresponding Secretary
Katina Sapourn-Balland, Recording Secretary

We are looking forward to what the new officers will bring to our chapter in the coming
year. Have a great summer and be safe.

Kirki Chapter #313

Asheville, North Carolina

The Asheville Kirki chapter has worked tirelessly to continue our efforts in supporting
the needs of the community where COVID-19 has impacted the lives of children and
Veterans alike.

Our chapter unanimously supported the effort to help the Veterans Quarters shelter
with an outpouring of donations and food provisions and these were received with
great appreciation.

We subsequently delivered Easter treat bags and goodies to local children who remain
in foster care. We also provided them with gifts of inspirational devotionals and Easter
treats for the older children who aged out of the foster care system and continue to
have no place to go at the age of eighteen. Inspiring those who are less fortunate, yet
very deserving, during these challenging times brings us as much joy as it delivers to
those recipients who are in need.

Our community and Kirki Chapter remain strong and resilient despite the challenges
we have faced and are honored with the opportunity to serve as we look forward to
more normal times ahead.

Harmonia Chapter 366, Charlottesville VA has continued to meet monthly in local

concerts this Spring. Our tip jar proceeds will go to Dogs Deserve Better and Big
Brothers Big Sisters.
In April, the chapter voted to send $200 to Doctors Without Borders to help with
Ukraine relief efforts.
Our last get together for the year will be a dinner at The Ivy Inn, run by the
Vangelopoulos family.
We will be sending two delegates to the June district convention. We feel fortunate
that we have been able to stay together as sisters during this challenging time.

Message from District Governor
Dina Fanikos

The Lodge has been very busy attending events across the District in person and virtually.

In April, the District proudly sponsored a brand new Maids of Athena chapter in Holmdel,
NJ. We are hopeful the mothers will be inspired to form a DOP chapter.

Just before Easter, the District returned to the shore to the Lobster Shanty for our annual
Spring Luncheon where we heard reports from all 11 chapters in our District. We were joined
by our liaisons, MOA Grand Treasurer Rigo Nasopoulos and Grand Governor Zone II
Dorothea Williams. A great time was had by all.

Altes Chapter #163

Trenton, New Jersey

Altes 163 started the year off by having the joint installation of officers with our
brothers in AHEPA. By October, we had two fundraising efforts: the selling of
Christmas Wreaths and Gertrude Hawk Candy. We attended the Festival of Tables
with the theme, "The Ties that Bind Us Together,” and hosted the District Workshop in
November. We continued to fundraise, adding a Vasilopita Bread Sale, and running a
bakery at the AHEPA Bouzouki night.

In December, we hosted our annual Christmas/Founders Day/Past
President/Honoring of 25 and 50 Year Members Dinner. The event also served as a
fundraiser for Womanspace, collecting a car full of gifts, in addition to many gift cards
and monetary contributions. Given the success of our Gertrude Hawk Fundraiser for
Christmas Candy, we decided to hold it again for Easter! The total proceeds are being
donated to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

We are most proud to announce that this year, we initiated 7 new sisters! Looking
ahead, our next meeting will be held at the new AHEPA Hall.

We will be volunteering at our Greek Festival and hosting our annual Gift Auction, in
addition to the 75th anniversary of our chapter!

GARDEN DISTRICT #5

Agape Chapter #336

Wyckoff, New Jersey

Despite the pandemic, our hard-working sisters raised and donated significant funds
and awarded three academic scholarships, thanks to the many people who
generously supported our fundraisers.

We held a memorial ceremony for Past District #5 Governor and National Penelope
of the Year Despina “Tess” Veloudos who passed away in August, 2021. We heard from
Tom Austin, author of “Bridge to the Riviera,” member of the 50’s band, the Royal
Teens, and co-writer of the song Short Shorts with Bob Gaudio of Four Seasons fame.
We won second place with our Roaring Twenties themed table and costumes at the
District #5 Festival of Tables. We helped “Spread the Joy” by packing joy boxes for
hospitalized children, knitted baby blankets, hats and lapghans for St. Joseph’s
Hospital, donated books at Christmastime to a nursing home and funds for the
homeless following a conversation with the CEO of a local agency dedicated to
serving homeless families. We sent funds to help Ukrainian refugees and welcomed
Dimitra Khan, the extraordinary Greek chef to speak about her cooking website,
www.dimitrasdishes.com and her YouTube, Facebook, Instagram social media pages.
Additionally, our two book discussion clubs and knitting club met monthly – it was a
very busy year for the sisters of Agape #336.

enough, ticket number 001 was the first ticket sold at the Toms River Township Food
Festival, the winner received $2000.00, and the chapter will welcome a new
member….The winner, a philhellene is looking to join Aphrodite Chapter #374!

Raffle winner Regina center poses with Aphrodite members. Girl Scouts join DOP meeting.

District Governor, Dina is initiating “Invite a Girl Scout” past or present to attend a

Juniors, and Cadets happily attended our meeting. It happened to be “Giving Back
Tuesday, and we shared our common goals, the current Girl Scouts learned about the
AHEPA Family and how we give back! In total we had 24 pasts, and present Girl
Scouts this included some of our very own Chapter members.
This unforgettable evening included 4 generations of Girl Scouts! YiaYia Stathia
Marousis, PDG, Daughter Karen Marousis, PDG, Granddaughter Christina, Great
Granddaughter, Alexis!

In December we were invited to participate in the Toms River Municipal Alliance
“Happy, Holiday, Healthy Festival along with St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church to
sell Greek pastries. Yes, the sugar, butter and flour were all a good Happy part of the
“Healthy” Festival! It was a successful and profitable week as our members were able
to bake together and be out in the community again.

As a small chapter, we are looking forward to returning to a bit of normalcy during
the coming year. It’s our hope while we are a small chapter, we can be an influential
chapter. We continue to support our philanthropic obligations, support local and
national charities and support our sisters in their endeavors.

Doris Chapter #157

Bloomfield Hills, Michigan

Greetings from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan! Doris Chapter #157 continues to have a fun and
productive year, kicking off 2022 with a Vasilopita Sale in January to raise funds for our newly
established annual college scholarship. Our sisterhood continues to grow, welcoming new
sisters at our initiation ceremony in March (picture below). In April, we had a Tsoureki Sale
and worked together with our Philoptochos ladies to prepare our beautiful St. George
Church for a moving Holy Week and a glorious Pascha - Christos Anesti! In May, we had a
blast preparing for our Mother’s Day Pastry Sale (picture below) which was a great success.
Doris Chapter is eagerly preparing for our St. George Ya’ssoo Greek Festival on Memorial Day
weekend; we have so much fun together hosting the Greek Kafenio. We continue to keep our
sisters connected through our Sunshine Committee, sending well wishes and birthday cards.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear sisters Stella Liakakis
Sislock and Elizabeth V. Schermer. Stella was a member of DOP Doris Chapter #157 for 45
years. She was past president and mother of our current president, Maria Sislock. Stella fell
asleep in the Lord in February. Beth was initiated into DOP in 1938. An active member for 84
years, she was honored by DOP Supreme Headquarters for her dedication and achievements.
Beth fell asleep in the Lord in May, three weeks shy of her 105th birthday. May their memory
be eternal.

Our Doris Chapter has a full social calendar planned: lunching with nearby sister chapters,
reviving “Mezethes and a Movie Night” screening Cliffs of Freedom, and hosting our St. George
family, especially the kids, at our Harvest Night Celebration in the fall.

We pray that our sisters around the world remain healthy and happy in 2022.

Thamyris Chapter #272

St. Clair Shores, Michigan

The Covid-19 Pandemic couldn’t stop the Thamyris Chapter #272 in its mission to support the
SE Michigan Ascension Breast Care Program. The Chapter has supported this long-time
charity partner through their annual Festival of Tables events, but the pandemic posed a
challenge to the group’s traditional way of hosting the event. In light of this, the group
decided to hold the event virtually in 2020 and then again in 2021 for the month of October,
but added a scaled-back, in-person ‘Savor, Shop, and Mingle’ event in 2021, that was still well-
attended and profitable.

The result was an unbroken commitment of the Thamyris Chapter #272 to the women in the
community benefiting from the breast care program and the other charities they serve. To
date, The Thamyris Chapter #272 has donated over $138,000 to the charity over the years.
This year the Chapter is gearing up for its 20th Year of The Festival of Tables and is keeping
with this new modified way of doing the event – a month of virtual combined with an in-
person event at the end of October.

A Celebration of Education
by Katherine See, DOP Thamyris Chapter 272

While high school and college graduates prepare themselves for the next chapter of their
lives, they are often uncertain as to what lies ahead. The women of the Thamyris Chapter not
only dedicate their time and energy to volunteer work, but also mentor the young ladies who
have joined in the more recent years. On May 12, the group gathered in celebration of those
graduating high school and college. To commemorate the day, members wore a shirt
representing their alma mater.
President Debbie Henry shared some words of wisdom, as she reminded the graduates that
they are the future of the organization. As president, she’s made sure to make everyone feel
supported and have fun alongside the roles and responsibilities of the group. Vice President
Joanna Maniadaki, a graduate herself, assembled gift baskets for each graduate to take
home. The evening was an event filled with vibrant smiles encouraging all to enjoy the
present, reflect on the past, and hope for prosperity in the future.

The Erinys Chapter #355 of North Royalton have resumed nearly all business as usual
post-COVID.

We kicked off 2022, with our annual Super Bowl Square fundraiser. We hosted
monthly meetings either in-person or via zoom, with a pause to celebrate Lent and
Pascha in April.

Our May activities resumed with our annual scholarship dinner, co-hosted with our
local AHEPA brothers. What a joy to be able to celebrate so many graduates after a
two-year hiatus! During this dinner, we awarded our annual scholarships to
graduating high school seniors and our very first collegiate-level scholarship, thanks
to a generous endowment-style gift received from our local Greek community. We
celebrated AHEPA Sunday by attending church together and hosting the coffee
social.

Our year concluded with our final meeting and elections. Many thanks to our
outgoing officers and congratulations to our incoming officers! We are thrilled to join
our Buckeye brothers and sisters at the district convention in a few short weeks to
celebrate our family with lots of kefi.

Our District had a successful District Convention on Saturday, May 14th hosted by
the AHEPAns #78 in Merrillville, IN. It was a productive day seeing old friends and
reconnecting in person to discuss the future of our District and how we can better
support our chapters. We had the pleasure of hosting Grand Governor, Elaine
Koutsoukos, at our convention. Elections for the 2022-2023 District Lodge were held
and Grand Governor Elaine administered the oath of office. After our session, we
were invited to watch the a special viewing of the film, “Life Will Smile”. The story
about the island of Zakynthos and how they saved 275 members of a Jewish
community during the Holocaust. It was a riveting & emotional movie to watch and
hear first hand from a survivor of what they went through. We were honored to have
the producer, Steven Priovolos, in attendance and held a Q&A session. Overall, it was
a day well spent! Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Supreme Convention.

Greetings Sisters!
After the holidays we continued to meet monthly. We noticed our attendance at
meetings was greater if we held them at restaurants. So that’s what we did to
maximize our attendance at meetings! In February, we supported our Maids of
Athena Chapter, Dionysia #141 to attend the Maids/Sons Volleyball tournament in
Miami, FL. With the assistance of the Maids, our District will soon have a Sons or
Pericles chapter.
In March we held our annual Senior Dinner at St. Demetrios Church in Hammond. It
was nice being able to host this event this year. Our chapter donated the food items
and beverages and ended the evening with fun games of Bingo. On May 14th our
chapter attended the District 12 Convention hosted in Merrillville.
As we approach the end of the year, some members are assisting with the logistics of
the Testimonial Dinner for Grand President Kathy on June 18th. Looking forward to
seeing all of our sisters at the Supreme Convention. In the meantime, let's all
continue the good work of the Daughters of Penelope.

Dione Chapter #316

Westmont, Illinois

Kiki N. Hartz Memorial Scholarship
By Jean Dittrich and Christina Basis-Prinzi

When I volunteered to write an article for our esteemed Penelope Scroll, there was one
story that stood apart from the others. It was about a member of the Daughters of
Penelope who left the order better than it was before her decades of service. This
respected and beloved sister is Kiki Hartz.

I witnessed firsthand her depth of knowledge regarding the Maids, Daughters, and
Roberts Rules of Order. She had a seemingly unending Rolodex of contacts. The
challenge for me was how to properly chronicle Kiki's journey. I turned to her friend,
Jean Dittrich, Past District Governor, who is no stranger herself to giving her time and
talents to our sisterhood. Sister Jean lovingly wrote: "When we lost our sister and friend
on August 8, 2020, our Dione #316 Chapter was in shock. This just doesn't happen to
gals our age. We are just starting our prime retirement years with plans to travel."

Sister Kiki joined Gaea #109 Maids of Athena and immediately took an active role as a
Chapter officer, ultimately becoming President. From Maids, Kiki joined the Daughters
on January 31, 1978, and assisted in the reactivation of Dione #316. She held various
Chapter offices, including President. She was a devoted, dedicated, and inspirational
Daughter. Running a fundraiser or hosting a dinner event was no challenge for her.

She went on the District Lodge and became District Governor in 2003-2004. Kiki served
a number of years on the District #13 Daughters of Penelope Scholarship Foundation, a
cause near and dear to her heart.

Throughout the years, she attended numerous Supreme Conventions as a delegate. Kiki
was also asked to serve on The Daughters of Penelope Foundation, Inc.

To remember and honor Kiki Hartz, the members of Dione #316 unanimously agreed to
pledge an annual scholarship in her name. We think that she would have been most
proud of this honor. We truly miss her, but we know we will meet again. We are pretty
sure she is up in heaven planning something big for all of us.

LOUKOUMADES which means ‘GREEK

tokens” were given to athletes in the first
Greek Olympics Games (776 B.C—2797 years
ago) after they finished competing.
The next time you’re in the gym or on the

Today each one of you have earned a ‘Greek

This was part of the information Chapter
President, Yvonne Pauls, and member,

at Saint Sophia Hellenic Orthodox School in
Holladay, Utah. CHARAI 79 has a
partnership with St. Sophia School and was
invited to tell the students about Greek
foods as part of the Greek Independence

Since everyone likes food when celebrating
special events, the students were treated to
delicious loukoumades from the Greek
Souvlaki restaurant. Pictures of Greek food
from All You Can Greek recipe book by

In remembrance of our deceased loved
