Quantifier คืออะไร?

Quantifier คือคาหรือกล่มุ คาทวี่ างไว้หน้าคานาม เพื่อแสดงปรมิ าณหรอื จานวนของคานามนน้ั ๆ

ผเู้ รยี นควรจดจาลกั ษณะการใชค้ าบอกปริมาณแตล่ ะคา โดยสังเกตวา่ ตอ้ งใช้ตามดว้ ยนามประเภทใด รวมถึงความ
แตกต่างระหว่างการใช้คาบอกปริมาณ ที่มีความหมายใกล้เคยี งกนั เช่น some/any หรือ many/much เป็นต้น

การใช้ quantifiers และตวั อยา่ งประโยค
ในการใช้ quantifiers นอกจากความหมายของตัว quantifiers เองแล้ว เราจะต้องคานึงถึงคานามท่ใี ช้กับ
quantifiers ด้วย

quantifiers หลายตัวจะมกี ฎบงั คับวา่ คานามที่มันกากบั จะตอ้ งเปน็ เอกพจนห์ รอื พหพู จน์ หรอื จะต้องเป็นคานาม
นับได้หรอื นบั ไม่ได้

Some

• มีความหมายวา่ “บางส่วน” หรอื “จานวนหนึ่ง”
• ใช้กับคานามนบั ไดพ้ หูพจน์ และคานามนบั ไมไ่ ด้
• ใช้กับประโยคบอกเล่า และประโยคคาถามทเ่ี ป็นการยนื่ ข้อเสนอ การขอร้อง หรอื การเสนอแนะ
• ใชใ้ นประโยคคาถาม เพ่ือขอรอ้ งหรือเสนอ ใหผ้ ู้พูดคาดว่าคาตอบจะเปน็ “Yes”

• ถ้าเทยี บกนั คาว่า few จะเน้นถงึ ความน้อยมากกว่า a few (คาว่า a few แม้จะมีความหมายวา่
“ปริมาณน้อย” แต่ความหมายจะค่อนไปทางกลางๆมากกว่า คลา้ ยกับคาว่า “จานวนหนึ่ง”)

Much มคี วามหมายวา่ “จานวนมาก” เช่นเดียวกับ many
• ใช้กับคานามนับไม่ได้
