Your Alumni Association Board has been busy since our last repOtt and we appreciate the help you have so generously given to assist
us in meeting our goals. 170 of you sent money and pledges to help with our planned first-class improvements to the H.P. Smith
Sports Complex, Collin Field, and the field at the South Omaha Boys & Girls Club. As you know the success of this plan will create
home fields for five SPOltS within six blocks of SHS. Let's bring back that Packer Power and make our school's athletes the winners
they should be. Donation form is on page 19 and the list of donors is on page 8 and 9.
The spagbetti dinner on March 25, was a huge success and we fed about 800 hungry alumni and friends. The bowling tournament
on Aplil 8 was fun also. The 60s Decade Dance for the 1960 through 1969 graduating years and their guests on July 14 sponsored by
the 1966 class exceeded all expectations. We expected to sell out this event, but were not prepared for the long list of alumni wanting
tickets if any became available - this after selling 650 tickets! And it was such fun catching up with many classmates we hadn't seen
since high school. Once the music started the place was hopping with the girls dancing together, line dances, grapevines, circle
dances, and couples galore. We tumed back the clock to high school for sure. The 70s Decade Committee had their 2006 Poker
Run on May 20, and all 63 supporters who palticipated are looking forward to next year. Some of the cool motorcycles and cars
which made up the caravan are pictured in this issue. We awarded scholarships totaling $18,000 at the Honors Convocation on May
8. The Golf Toumament on July 16 was a great success with 125 golfers participating. Homecoming is September 22 and we hope
you will attend the game and cheer for your school. The Hall of Fame Brunch is scheduled for September 23 (by invitation only).
The SPOtts Greats Banquet will be held on September 27 at Anthony's and we hope many of you will join us for this fun event.
Again, volunteers are needed to mail the TOOTER to our 20,000 plus alumni list. Please call the office to offer any time you can
spare. Think about establishing scholarship memorials for your classmates, and help us with teacher grants, and other financial
assistance needed by your school. We are velY thankful for your help.
We are here to serve you so please share your ideas and encouragement with your Alumni Association.

Fellow Alumni: 6th ANNUAL SOUTH HIGH SCHOOL
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION LOTTERY
Take a moment to consider how fortunate we are to have an Alumni Association at SHS. In 2006 the SHSAA gave
$18,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors. We mail 20,000 alumni TOOTERS twice each year at a total cost of
$16,150. We do this to keep our graduates and friends informed and to share news about SHS, your classmates and
friends. Your Alumni Association sponsors several events each year for your enjoyment. All of these activities cost
money. and that is why we ask for your support with this lottery. Without this money for operating expenses, we
will be unable to continue our current level of support to SHS, its students and alumni.
This year's lottery will have SIX cash prizes!!
First prize is $2,000 CASH
One $1,000 cash prize
Four $500 cash prizes
A total of $5,000 will be given in prizes.
We hope that you will support your Alumni Association by either buying these books of tickets or selling them to
family, friends and coworkers. Please complete name, address and phone number, and send only the portion which
has your name, address and phone number along with your money to the alumni office at the address below. Last
year many of you used address labels along with your phone number, this really worked GREAT! Please keep the
portion of the tickets that are printed with the prizes and dates for your records.
There is no limit to the amount of tickets that you can buy or sell. If you would like to receive more tickets, please
let us know. If you would like to purchase additional tickets, and you would like us to fill them out for you, you can
send your money and the way you wish the tickets to be filled out and we will do it for you. (Again, sending
address labels to us for use on your extra tickets would be extremely helpful.)
ALL tickets & money MUST be received at the office by
Wednesday December 6, 2006
Mail the completed ticket stubs and money to:
