Your Alunmi Association is dedicated to fulfilling our Mission Statement by helping our alunmi and our school. We met two times since our
last TOOTER, and we have exciting plans for the upcoming year. We scheduled the spaghetti dumer on March 25, and moved the bowling
tournament to April 8, adding a morning and afternoon session. We hope the change will allow more alumni and friends to attend both
events.
Also we are excited that the 1966 class is sponsoring a 60s Decade Dance for the 1960 tlU'ough 1969 graduating years and their guests on
July 14. We expect to sell out tllis event. If you would like to attend, please send the reservation form which is included in this TOOTER to
the office right away. The 70s Decade Committee is planning another fun Poker Run and all are invited to participate. Motorcycles and cars
will make up the caravan and we hope you will join the Run. This year's Golf Tournament was a great success as was the Sports Greats
Banquet, and we hope many of you will join us next year for these fun events.
We are very enthusiasic about the plalll1ed first-class improvements to the H.P. Snlith Sports Complex, Collin Field, and the field at the South
Omaha Boys & Girls Club. This plan would create home fields for five sports within six blocks of the school. This will be a great
improvement over the current arrangement where our athletes must h'avel extra miles for theu' home games.
We continue to update 20,000 plus alumni tlu'ough your TOOTER. Any help you can provide to continue this service as well as scholarship
awards, teacher grants, and other support to your school will certainly help. Your time and your money will let us continue to serve you. If
you have any terrific new ideas for a fundraiser or an alunull activity, please let us know. Volunteers are needed for mailu1gs and other
activities, so if you find yourself with any available time, please call the office. We would be very thankful for your help.
We are here to serve you so please share your ideas and encouragement with your Alunmi Association.

MEMBERSHIP FEE REQUIRED
For your Alumni Association to continue distributing the TOOTER twice each year; award ever-increasing scholarship monies (last year we awarded
$15,000); present the annual spaghetti dinner, bowling shoot-out, golf outing, poker nm, etc.; award money to teachers at SHS in the fonn of teacher
grants; donate money to sponsor the Post Prom Party and help classes with addresses and mailings for class reunions, we need EVERY alumni to
participate in the membership drive. We ask that you pay either a $20 Booster membership each year or a one-time $100 Life membership fee.
We have come to a point where we must require evetyone to pay a minimum of $1 0 each year to keep receiving the TOOTER. It costs $6,000 each
issue to write, print and mail the TOOTER to 20,000 alumni all over the United States - and that is with volunteers helping put it together and mailing
it out. Did you know that we cmTently have graduates in all 50 states, Canada and even a few in Europe? If our income continues to drop and
expenses continue to rise, we may be forced to stop sending mailings to evetyone. It would really be sad, because we would lose contact with so
many of you and so would your classmates. Please remember if you are on a committee that is planning a reunion, request a list of cun·ent names and
addresses fi-om the Alumni Association office in order to mail infOlmation and invitations. If your correct name and address are not on our database,
you may not receive information about your upcoming reunion. PLEASE send a minimum of $10 in the enclosed self-addressed envelope. The
address label on this TOOTER shows your membership status as of Janumy 1,2005; however, $10 contributions m·e not listed at this time. Thank you
in advance for sending your membership dues as soon as possible. Note that in 2004 only 2,500 almnni, out of 21 ,000, gave money to the Association
in the fonn of memberships and postage donations. We need your help and thank you for your SUppOlt.

CLASS DONATIONS
The Board of Directors would like to thank several classes for donations made to the Alumni
Association Scholarship Fund. The classes of 1945, 1950, 1955 and 1975 gave sizable donations to
the Alumni Association following their recent reunions. The 1947 class has decided not to have any
more reunions and gave the money in their class treasury to the Association. The 1950 class donated
their money in honor of Robert Boldra, who was a diligent and productive member of the reunion
committee for all of the class reunions until his death in June 2003. We greatly appreciate the hard
work by all of the reunion committees and wish to thank everyone for these generous donations.

REUNION REFLECTIONS
BY VELTA STOLZ BOLDRA FOR THE 1950 CLASS REUNION COMMITTEE.
The class of 1950 reunion committee is grateful for the 55th reunion planning ideas and guidance from the
Westroads Coffee Clatch ladies along with recommendations from Steve Cavlovic about Anthony's Restaurant.
It was a great pleasure to have Chris Saklar at the microphone giving everyone the news of the next day's
activities. We sincerely hope that all of the guests enjoyed themselves as much as we did.
Corrections to the class photo: #344 is Don Roubinek; #352 is Joan Roseland; #350 is Jim Benes; #369 is
Irvin Holst. The handsome gentleman beside Irv in the actual photo is none other than Steve Vrbanac-1949.

UNPLANNED REUNION AT PICCOLO Golf outing Faces on the Green
PETE'S RESTAURANT
On 9-13-05, a group of 1942/43 graduates ofSHS met at
Piccolo's for their monthly luncheon. (They meet at various
restaurants and have named their group the "SOBs" - South
Omaha Bunch). They were very surprised when they
discovered the adjoining table was comprised of 1952 SHS
graduates who meet at Piccolo's on the second Tuesday of
every month. The surprise was even greater when they
learned yet another adjacent table was occupied by some
members of the 1940/41 graduating class from SHS! What a
great time they all had, and Ken Herman-1942 shared these
photos with our TOOTER readers. Thanks Ken!
Ifyoll have kept in contact with fellow c1asslllates, send LIS a
photo and tell us about all ofyoll. It is this feeling of
"family" among allimn i that makes SHS so special!
