Due to the unexperien ced runners ,
however, the team failed to win con -
sistently. Coach Lawre nce , despite

was given special recognition because of he r dauntless energy

Cheerleaders

Show Spirit

The objective of the varsity
cheerleaders was to promote spirit
among the student body, to boost
the morals of the team members,
and to create enthusiam in the
spectators.

11 The Varsity Cheerleaders
are selected during the spring sem-
ester to represent and to act as
student body leaders for all athl etic
events during the coming year. The
cheerl eaders spend many hours
practicing during the summer and
throughout the school term," stated

World in 80 Days

"Around the World in Eighty
Days 11 was the theme for the 1 966
Homecoming Parade. Each float
in the entire parade portrayed
the theme with an originality of
its own. The ·"outstanding float"
was built by Future Farmers,
the 1'most humorous' 1 by Octa-
gon, and the "most beautiful" by.
De ca.

Deca is shown caging the Lynx.

Even after spending many hours working on the
various homecoming events, Student Council
members still have enough energy to stand on
