The Varsity Cheerleading Squad had five seniors and only one junior.
They are expecting great things from th~ under-classmen that are go-
ing to be joining the varsity squad next year.
The cheerleaders were a big part of the school spirit. They pumped up the

crowd and them ready to cheer on the Packer teams. The worked every day

on new cheers and new ways to get the crowds into the games. Some of the

cheerleaders added tumbling into their weekly practices. The squad hopes to

keep this type of new growth continuing into

the future.

.\ Their coach, Mrs. Matulka, was "very
pleased" with their performances this year.

The seniors are very sad tot be leaving at

the end of the year, but they have taught

the lower class _!11en everything they need to

know to make it a great season next year.

It's the first day of school and the new high school students

are nervous, scared, and excited all at the same time. The up-

perclassmen can seem so intimidating, and middle school is

no longer around. These new Packers have left their child-

hoods behind and are now starting a whole new chapter in
their lives. It is the start_of a new foundation to build their

futures on.
Freshman year is one of the most important years of a

student's high school career. It's when students meet their

lifelong friends, start their academic careers, and experience

new things.
Many clubs and sports are offered in high school that weren't

offered to students before. This gives the incoming freshmen ·

new experience to be the new bricks in the building of their

., dreams and expectations.

sd1ool much more this year. I also found I knew a lot more people this year and that made it easier to

make new friends: said sophomore Miclielle Maho111!\J, Mahonl!\J also joined 10 srafl of tlie Tooter her

sophomore year.

Row to the Structure

They are no longer freshmen. They are stronger and more confident. With
this new maturity con~es more responsibility and a little more freedom. Sopho-
mores became more focused on their homework and grades. Homework also
became more difficult and time consuming.

Another exciting thing that happened sophomore year was that the majority
of the class turned sixteen and were able to drive. With this privilege come
more freedom and, again, more responsibility. Students who wanted a car, now
had to face the reality of getting a job not only to purchase a vehicle, but to be
able to buy the gas and insurance that is all part of the new responsibility.

By the sophomore year students got into the real Packe·r spirit by partici-
pating in sports and joining the otl}er fans at all the exciting sporting events.
Spirit Days, Homecoming, and other dances became more a part of school
life for sophomores. This was the year the real Packer Spirit became part of
each student.

One more layer has been added to the life of a Sophomore as they contin-
ued to build their high school career - B..-ick by B..-ick.
