Dear Hirer,

I would like your consensus to work in your environment and learn about the medical field as I go
along and gather knowledge about nursing in the career.

This job has really interested me since I have become part of the medical field. I believe that with
my knowledge in the medical practices I can be a real benefit in nursing. I have always wanted to
be a person that would care for others and look after others rather than myself. I myself have taken
care of those that are younger and have become a role model to them.

I have also retained some medical knowledge back during my high school years and certified in
CPR training due to a program that I once took to obtain the license. Additionally, my family has
some medical back ground to them and have passed it on to me to become an even greater nursing
student.

I hope that we can soon arrange a meeting time and place to discuss all of this.

Sincerely,

John Le

Registered Nurse (RN)

Nursing has always been on my mind since I was young. Albeit, It has blown past my
mind during sometime during my high school years, but I have decided that being a Nurse Is
what I want to be when completing college. When I was younger, I saw my grandpa pass away
and It was tragic to think that at my current situation I could not do anything In helping him
prolong his life. It daunted onto me that If I wanted to be someone that could be of help, then I
would need to strive towards that path and do everything that I could to become that person. It
took me years to have a clear conscience of what I wanted to be when I grew up, but the
deciding factor was only fairly recently when I witnessed my uncle passed away in front of me
as I stood there helpless that It would take me to the right path and decide what I wanted to
become.

When searching for a job in the Nursing career, I had to find the personality to become
one. Taking the DWYA found that for me and told of the personality that would be required to
become a Nurse. Although some points in my personality do not align with the
recommendations of a Nurse, I plan to change that and try my hardest to work on that. My
DWYA assessment was a ISTP (Introversion, Sensing, Thinking, and Perception). Introversion
does suit my character, but that Is not a bad thing in the medical field. I believe that It would be
a great benefit to show myself some restraint when I need to. Sensing is more of seeing the
bigger picture of something which I think that I am adequate in. Thinking is being able to

Le 2

critically think and give a logical reasoning to a decision. I tend to do that because I think when I
am on my feet. Perception is the last on and It has a close relation to Sensing, and Thinking
because perception has to do with gathering information through the senses and interpreting
that information and organizing it. Most of these skills are required for a nursing career and the
like.

To become a Registered Nurse you have to be proficient in many areas. Some
requirements to be a nurse are a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN), an associate’s
degree in Nursing (ADN), and/or a diploma from an approved nursing program. All of these
require time to complete. A BSN take around 4 years to complete and an ADN takes around 2-3
years. Certain skills are required to become a nurse like Critical-Thinking, Communication,
Compassion, Emotional Stability, Organizational, and Physical Skills.

A typical day in a Registered Nurse’s routine depends on the situations happening inside
the hospital. Registered Nurses can do many things like helping patients to taking calls. They are
on their feet all day responding to certain situations and also doing paper-work, record
patients’ medical histories and symptoms, administering patients’ medicines and treatments,
observe patients and record the observations, and operate and monitor medical equipment. A
nurse’s role can vary and range from many different things that require them to think of their
feet and to be on call to respond to anything that deems their assistance. From being a RN, they
can advance to different fields also like being a Clinical nurse or an anesthesiologist or a Nurse
practitioner. There are many requirements to be a Nurse, but all of this does not come without
some resentment to the career. Some things that I think I will dislike about the job will be the
hours that I have to work, Although it comes with the job It will take some time to get use to. I

Le 3

believe that I will enjoy most of the work if it means that I will be helping people and bring
them happiness and peace.

To be able to get this job I will have to work hard during my time at Lone Star and try to
get as many credits as possible here before I transfer to another university. I need to finish my
Associate of Science here and then transfer to another University to be able to further my
knowledge in the Medical Field. Big names in the Medical field are Houston Methodist in the
Cypress area and Memorial Hermann Medical Center. These hospitals are the biggest in the
area that can provide some insight to the what I want to be working on.
