Early settlers named this Lost Creek after the large creek that disappears underground. Most people call it Lost Creek Falls with Lost Creek Cave. It was also known as White’s Cave and Dodson Cave. The cave is large enough that 2-3 Greyhound buses can drive side by side into it. There are five caves with five entrances with a combined length of 7 miles. The main cave is great for beginners. It is short, large and you can’t get lost. It is hard to walk on the rocks and they are very slick. The main entrance is about 50’ high and about 60’ wide. The ceiling inside the cave reaches over 80’ tall. There is a 40’ water falls inside the cave. In 1993 or 1994, Disney filmed portions of the movie Jungle Book at this site. The trail is well-worn and well-marked with a blue blaze. It is only about 0.1 miles to the fall and cave from the parking area.

Lost Creek Falls (60’)

A smaller falls up the hill between the cave and the main falls. Ballplay Falls (45’) Directions: Take I-75 N toward Knoxville, from Shallowford Rd about 54.6 miles Take exit 60 onto TN-68 S for 11.9 miles Take ramp onto US-411 N for 1.1 miles, it is easy to miss the next turn Turn right onto Ballplay Rd for 12.3miles, it turn into TN-360 S Turn left onto Chestnut Valley Rd 3 miles Go straight onto the road to the right Williamsburg Cemetery Rd Park at the barn and old house

The trail was hard to find. It was well-worn but not maintained. It said it was about 1.5 miles to the fall but we got about 0.8 miles. The trail starts behind the house. We marked it with three logs on each side. I don’t know how long they will stay there. The trail is very steep uphill for the about 0.3 miles. The first turn is a sharp right. Don't go straight. At about 0.5 miles it started downhill. At the fork, take the trail to the left down to the creek. You will get to the creek at about 0.8 miles. Turn left at the creek and go a short distance to the top tier of the falls.

This is the top tier of the falls. The trail to the bottom of the falls is very rough. You have to climb over fallen logs going down a steep bank while holding on to rhododendron plants. This is the bottom tier of the falls with Dan on the right.

From here you can see all the way to the top of the falls (45'). Look way up in the top of the picture for the top tier.
