INTRODUCTION

Recycling is critical in Malaysia's society if we want to leave our earth to
futuregenerations. It is beneficial to the environment since we are creating new
items from old ones that are no longer useful to us. Recycling begins at home. If you
are not throwing away any of your old products and instead utilizing it for

something new, then you are recycling.

In a high growth economy like Malaysia, recycling is the key due to the fact
that it reduces waste materials that are used every day and transforms them to
produce new materials without the need to send the entire waste to landfills or
dump sites. When you think of recycling, you should really think about the whole
idea of reduce, reuse and recycle. We have been careless up to this point with the
way we have treated the Earth, and it is time to change, not just the way we do

things but the way we think.

MRM, a non-profit organization, is managed by the Ministry of International
Trade and Industry, and SIRIM Berhad serves as MRM's appointed secretariat. It is
recognized as a think tank and counsellor to Malaysians in terms of developing
innovative solutions and ensure that we are on level with worldwide standards. MRM
has worked over the past ten years to promote the successful implementation of
design and thinking in industry, education, and government. To date, it has
maintained its efforts to raise design methods and accelerate manufacturing
inventiveness. Malaysian companies are now able to go forward and build a
stronger relationship with their consumers thanks to MRM's assistance and
recommendations, thanks to their enhanced experience in designing eye-catching

products.

Waste creates a huge negative impact on the nature and external
environment and hencerecycling plays a major role. Malaysia recycle plans helps in
reducing the release of greenhouse gasses and chemicals in landfill sites. It can
reduce deforestation which is otherwise carried out to create more sites for landfill.
Precious energy used to make materials from raw materials is also saved. it is
important that alternative strategies for Malaysia recycle are explored and this is
necessary to create sustainable waste management practices for Malaysia recycle
that contributes for an overall developed country in terms of economy and also in

conserving the environment.

APPRECIATION

Dear organisers of Waste to Wealth Innovation Design Competition,

Our sincere appreciation goes to MRM, SWcorp, SIRIM and UITM Puncak Alam
for initiating theperfectly organised event for students to test their ability as well
as have something to takehome. The competition was a challenge for the students
in which we were able to show ourcreativity and artistic skills in a more unique way.

We say thank you and all the best in your future endeavours.

Thank you to our respected advisor, Madam Jamizan binti Jalaluddin @ Mohd
Rashid for giving the students the opportunity to participate in this event. Thank
you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to encourage the students to
attend the competition. Indeed, with the opportunity that was given to the students,
it gave us the ability to explore our creative side and take our skills as far as we

want to go.

Having an open mind and a lot of enthusiasm can assist the mind to study
past and present experiences, generating and producing uniqueness, and coming
up with new ideas, which leads to creativity. When a person finds a reason to be
creative, such as a party, a project, or anything else that necessitates creativity,
ambition is present. The more motivated you are, the better you will be at creating
anything really, and your ideas will be more effective. Big enterprises, for example,
require a team to work with each other in order to thrive. It takes a lot of individuals
to share their ideas with an open mind in order to create something unique and
wonderful that benefits everyone. Being able to think creatively is a valuable skill to
possess.Crafting anything from scratch, such as a stuffed toy out of a sock, is an
example of creativity in my opinion.Needless to say, creativity is not a competition,

creativity is community. Once again, thank you Madam Jamizan.

Likewise to all dear participants,

It has been an honour to have you, students, present in this wonderful event. Your
presence helped to make ‘Waste to Wealth Innovation’ a great success as well as
your enthusiasm and positive spirit. Each student has been a great participant with

so much potential and creativity. By and large, thank you, everyone.

Shade of the fireflies is a valiant effort to save fireflies
in Malaysia and hopefully this project can be applied in
other countries as well. Fireflies all over the world are
facing extinction due to light pollution and habitat loss
especially Malaysia’s rare Pteroptyx Tener. It is up to
us, Malaysians to realize and protect our crucial
species from disappearing forever off this earth.
It is made of 1.5l plastic bottle, milk carton, wooden
skewers, black paint, tissue paper roll. The function is
to provide shade and promote growth of the fireflies
so that their numbers will increase. Cost: It will cost
little to nothing because the materials for this product
are trash and disposable items.
