BRIEF // Packaging

Cocoloco, a small artisan chocolate company is launching their new line of chocolates. They wanted
their packaging to be modern, refreshing, and suited for the high end luxury food market. The clients
also wanted the packaging to be inspired by the countries where the cocoa beans originated from.

BRAZIL PAPUA NEW GUINEA

ECUADOR

To create the design, I drew inspiration from the wildlife that is present in these countries. Each
design is based on an iconic bird species that is unique to that region. The Blue-Footed Booby was the
inspiration for Ecuador, the Toucan for Brazil and the Birds of Paradise for Papua New Guinea.

BRIEF B R I S T O LThe weekly Bristol Farmer’s Market has been

given a double-page spread advertorial in a

F A R M E R ' Slocal magazine. The aim was to showcase their

Khigh quality produce and promote the message
of sustainability. The client also wanted me to MARKET
design a logo to be used for the advertorial.

The imagery I wanted to convey with this advertorial was “Farm to Table”. I chose a picture that had
a colourful spread of fresh farm produce with an attractive, rustic style table top. I wanted the ad to
have an “old timey” feeling, so I decided to use a chalkboard type of font and mixed it with a simple
handwriting font to tie the look together. To stick to this theme, I designed the logo to have a vintage
style ribbon label, which also made the logo pop.

BRIEF // Mobile

The Veg Box is a new app that aims to connect local
farmers to consumers in an effort to promote sustainable
living. Customers can “Build a Box” of locally grown,
sustainable food from a variety of local farms.

I wanted the visual design to give off a rustic feel, so I
chose a vintage wood palette to act as the background for
the main screen. To ensure that the design is balanced, I
lightened the wood palette and opted for a plain white
background for most of the pages. I chose black, orange
and green for the colour scheme to bring out the colours
of the logo. These colours were also chosen because the
are often associated with healthy living.

LOGO I love playing with letters and using
imagery to convey text. I wanted
to emphasize “Veg” in the title, so
I highlighted it by creating a vector
in the shape of a carrot. To further
emphasize this, I opted to colour
the carrot, which also created a nice
contrast with the rest of the text.

BRIEF

F &aluonraa Flora & Fauna is a luxury cosmetic company specializing in high
end products made with raw and natural ingredients. They
are in the process of rebranding their core range to target a
younger market. They want their logo to be modern, clean and
feature a botanical illustration.

To appeal to a younger market, I wanted the logo to be crisp
and clean with a touch of modern feminine flair. I decided to
include a vector of a monstera leaf for the botanical component
since it can easily bring in colour to the logo, but can also translate well as a black and white logo. To avoid
repetitiveness with the letter “F”, I enlarged it to act as the first letter for “flora” and “fauna”. To add more
interest to the logo, as well achieve a balance, I decided to also enlarge the “&” symbol.

BRIEF // Craft

The CAISA Fashion Show is an annual event run by students from The University of Western Ontario. It
is Canada’s largest student run fashion show, and boasts a crowd of over 1500 people. I was fortunate
enough to be selected to be a part of the event as the production manager for the 2014 show called
Arcadia. The theme of the show was Alice in Wonderland and as the production manager, it was my
responsibilty to design scenes that reflected the theme. With a tight budget, it was also my job to
create any necessary props and set for the show.

Rainbow Clouds

This scene portrayed Alice’s arrival in
Wonderland. I wanted to this scene
to be other worldly and colourful.
To achieve this, an abstract image
was projected in the backdrop while
rainbow clouds were rolling through
the stage.
Paper plates, paint, hot glue and a large
cardboard were used to create these
“rainbow clouds” which represented
the surreal dream like state that occurs
in Alice in Wonderland.

The Triumph

This scene represented Alice’s triumph against the Red Queen. This scene is designed to convey
an angelic, peaceful setting. I created the faux staircase using old closet shelves which I connected
together with metal wires. I lined the old shelves with a trimming created from white garbage bags. A
fan was blown off stage to create movement with the trimmings. Small fairy lights were used to add
some romance to the scene.

The Evil Queen

This scene represented the dark intentions of the
Red Queen. It also served as the lingerie portion
of the show. The aesthetics for this scene needed
to be dark and sexy.
For set the tone for this scene, I upholstered an
entire wingbacked chair. The fabric chosen was
metalic to reflect the royal nature of the throne.
Lastly, I used chicken wire and dollar store chiffon
to create the floating dresses.
