DOMINION CALL 2017 MAGAZINE

GREAT
IS THISLOVE
As soon as we enter this world, we are welcomed into the arms of our loved
“A NEW commandment
I give YOU, that you LOVE one another; as I have LOVED you, that you also LOVE one another"
No matter what challenges we may face in life, let us remember that God’s arms are available for com- fort as we continue our mission. We can trust that He has a plan for us despite our struggles. The ene- my knows we are here on a mis- sion from our King; the enemy’s mission is to derail and hinder us from completing our assignments [1 Thessalonians 2:18]. God’s ways are just and He will carry us
(by Deaconess Mindy Hylton)
ones. These arms carry and care
for us tenderly and protect us
faithfully when we are young.
They are living examples of
love, trust and comfort. These
are human arms. The everlast-
ing arms of God play a similar
role, as He is our heavenly Fa-
ther. As His children, we are to carry out this role to our brethren. John 12:26 says, “If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.” When we serve, we need to follow His example of love.
through if we let Him. He is Our DELIVERER - The arms that move us. We must always be grateful for His protection. We must know that He wants us to be a representation of His everlasting arms to others when they are growing weary. We are the vessels that God intends to use [1 Peter 2:9]. We must love, comfort, shield and provide support and encour- agement to others. It is in knowing and trusting Him that we can do this, even in the midst of our struggles. Like Jesus, we must look beyond ourselves and be an extension of God’s arms to our brethren.
Our God uses His arms to carry us every single moment of our lives. He is our Creator, our Father, and our Friend. For those that have given their lives to Jesus Christ, He is our Groom and we are His Bride. We belong in His arms forev- er. He waits to receive us in heaven with those everlasting arms when our destinies are ful lled. Do we daily dwell in the love of God’s everlasting arms? Do we show the love of God to others? We can trust that He is always there to love and comfort us, and we need to remember to give him thanks and praise and share this love. As we discover the meaning of life and see that our purpose on this earth is to worship God, we will be lifted through praise as we seek Him. He is Our SAVIOR – Our arms raised in worship. We feel loved when we are comforted in His embrace and surrounded by others that He sends our way. In moments of complete sur- render, He picks us up and carries us when we can’t carry on. His arms are ever-present and outstretched to us in welcome at all times even when we don’t look for them or realize they are there. His arms beckon, move and shield us. These arms are waiting openly to embrace us. With each new day, the opportunity to hear His call and receive from Him is giv- en through our experiences, and the tests and trials that we face. He is always watching over us and His mighty arms can order our steps into our destiny. He is Our HEALER - Our arms receiving His touch, He turns our lives around. We would be nothing without these arms.
God never gets tired of caring for us and we can show ap- preciation to God by being examples of His Love. 1 Thessa- lonians 3:12 says, “May the Lord make your love increase and over ow for each other and toward all men, even as we do toward you.”As His children, we can show this love, by practicing it at every opportunity and being a blessing and encouragement to God’s people every day. John 13:34-35 says, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” We must share God’s greatest gift, LOVE, by loving one another.

How Terrorism
CHRIST
LED ME TO
by Bro. Alaba Hamzat
On this fateful day, my blessed Pastor an- nounced that “if there is anyone in the sanc- tuary who has not given his or her life to Jesus......” I exchanged a look with my wife and children and slowly moved forward. A night before I had informed them of my decision to em- brace Christianity, and not only that, but that I have found a church! My wife was not surprised because she always had it at the back of her mind that sooner or later I would become a Christian. For years, I would drop them off in the church and return home to watch English soccer on TV. I attended Christian schools all my life both in Ni- geria and England but never felt the love for Christ until recently.
I sat down one night and tuned the TV to CNN and be- hold, a huge man with a long sharp knife was chopping off a man’s head! A human head!! Innocent lives being cut short all in the name of politics!!! The murderer, a British, would later be killed by American bombs. However, his atrocities against humanity would never be forgotten. As much as I am not interested in the reasons or justi cations for kidnapping and killing of innocent men and women I believe, God does not want innocent blood to be shed just like that! ‘Thou shall not kill says one of the Ten Com- mandments. God has made it clear!
People ought to realize that terrorism cost money. Huge money – Millions, if not Billions of dollars are being spent to nance terror on a large scale. Recruitment, propagan- da, arms, training, to mention but just a few. So, where is this money coming from? Powerful Muslims and nations must be doling out or raising the fund. Therefore, they are as guilty as their foot soldiers. Islam is supposed to be a peaceful religion and if people can raise money to create fear, to kill, maim and destroy, then, unfortunately, Islam is not for me!
Christians are not perfect but the bible encourages us to “Love our neighbors as we love ourselves.” This is, ac- cording to Jesus Christ, the second most powerful com- mandment. Contrary to people’s opinion, church leader- ship matters a lot. This brought me to my choice of church under the discipleship of Pastor Toyin Laoye. I have been to many churches in New York and even here in New Jer- sey; one thing I can say is only God knows those who are serving Him. Some churches’ leaders are jokes but it is not for me to judge.
Pastor Toyin Laoye prayed for me, advised me to attend the believer and baptism classes. To God be the Glory! Thank God I am now born again - saved by His Grace; no going back to past sins.

HAPPY
I rejoice greatly with Pastor (Dr.) Toyin Laoye and the entire family of the Dominion Cathedral, New Jersey, on the 20th Anniversary of the church. I also want to thank God for Pastor Laoye as she celebrates 20 years in ministry. Those who know the history of the church in New Jersey can testify that the ministry was birthed in persecution and has thrived in the midst of oppressive challenges. God is indeed faithful! Pastor (Dr.) Toyin Laoye’s
courage, perseverance and determination in the face of multiple challenges are highly commendable. For those who have stood by her and supported her, I pray that the Lord will never leave them nor forsake them. Looking back, it is evident that the Everlasting Arms of the Almighty have been upholding the church and His servant. May the Lord continue to uphold and lift His church to greater Glory in Jesus’ name. Amen
