Man, I can’t believe we’re 30 this year! I can’t help but reflect on the journey that has led us here. At the age of 23, I was privileged to be in the business alongside Iain. Back then, it was just the two of us, and we operated with minimal infrastructure and support. We had no customer care, no IT systems, no marketing departments, and certainly no HR. All we had was a simple System and products that we got printed down the road. Since then, our growth has been exponential. From our humble beginnings in my bedroom to offices across the country, from two of us to thousands of us, and from one Owner to over a hundred Owners… our journey has been nothing short of extraordinary! We’ve transformed every aspect of our operation, from HR to customer service, finance to marketing, into world-class departments ready for the challenges of the future. We’ve given people the chance to Dream. We’ve created opportunities. We’ve trained thousands of people on how to run their own business. We’ve trained tens of thousands of people on how to sell. We’ve produced multiple millionaires. We’ve built an incredible brand and developed incredibly strong leaders, both within The System and at head office. We’ve developed a world-class leadership training programme. We’ve fostered a culture that people want to be part of. We’ve established over 5 000 ECD Centres and prepared over a million kids for school. We’ve paid hundreds of millions in claims to our customers. Most of all, we’ve shifted countless lives. It has been a privilege to be on this journey, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share it with all of you. To each one of you, thank you for making The Unlimited what it is today. On 1 March 2024 we celebrated 30 years of doing what we do best: shifting lives. Every office across the country joined us in celebrating this incredible milestone. The celebration also served as a tribute to our Owners, people and partners who have been with the business for over a decade. Among them were our three unbelievable Vice Presidents: Sydwell Khoza (20 years), Leo van Niekerk (16 years), and Thulani Hlatshwayo (14 years). As we look ahead to the future, we’re filled with gratitude for the past and excitement for what’s to come as we continue to build a remarkable business for our children’s children that will still be shifting lives 100 years from now. In a time where most businesses are tightening their belts, or closing their doors, Gro Direct is making waves and has opened another offi ce in Braamfontein. According to the Vice President of Gro Direct, Thulani Hlatshwayo, the move to establish a new offi ce in Braamfontein is a testament to how The System really does shift lives and makes Dreams possible. He says that the new Location Head, Selaki Senwamadi, had a Dream to have her own location and now, through hard work and doing whatever it takes, she has made it a reality! The offi ce offi cially opened on 19 February 2024 and has since grown to 40 people. But it’s not just about making money for Selaki, she’s on a mission to shift as many lives as she can! Taking Ownership starts with me TakingOwnershipTst What is Ownership? Ownership is about taking responsibility. It means being accountable for your actions, decisions, and outcomes. It’s not about blaming others or waiting for handouts; it’s about doing whatever it takes and making things happen. Ask yourself… • Who makes you get up every morning and go to the office? • Who makes sure that you never miss a day in the office? • Who is responsible for pitching customers? • Who is responsible for signing quality customers? • Who ensures you qualify for the next event? • Who will ensure you follow the DDA’s consistently every day? • Who has to recruit and hire quality people? • Who is responsible for following The System 100%? YOU ARE! Taking ownership starts with you. No one else is going to do it for you. It’s about doing the things that need to be done, all the time. People talk about their intentions. They want to buy a new car, they want to own their own business, they want to buy their mother a house. But, wanting and doing are two different things. Intentions are the start, to actually achieve these things, requires ACTION! Intention is only 1%. Action is 99%. Action is the bridge between where you are and where you want to be. Taking action is what separates those who merely talk about their Dreams and goals from those who actually achieve them. So, what action must you take to truly embrace ownership? 1. Get Clear about your Dream: Get clear on what you want to achieve and why it matters to you. Your Dream is your motivation to take action. 2. Commit to Personal Development: Obsess about personal development and master your trade. Listen to the ODP and read your manuals daily. 3. Lead by Example: People won’t do what you say, they will do what you do. Remember everything duplicates – both good and bad. If your peoples’ habits are bad, they probably got it from you. When you lead from the front, people will believe in you and follow you. They will start doing what you are doing. 4. Use the Tools Available: From the posters and manuals to the ODP, bulletins and events, use every tool available to you! There is a line in the Owners’ Manual that says “Stop waiting to be told what to do! Get on with it, it is your business!” So, the next event is the Future Owners’ Night Away, followed by The Rally. What is it that you need to do to make sure that you don’t miss out? That’s right! PRINCESS MAKHOBA Princess grew up in a small town called Nongoma.
