Research problem: This study observe the food consuming behavior among customers who are dine
in at McDonald, Kuala Pilah

15 November 2020: Finding appropriate target Memos
location-McDonald, K.P 8.30 pm- 9.00 pm
I have decided to do my participation observation Strategic places
in McDonald Kuala Pilah. However, I also
prepared myself with a bottle of hand sanitizer Precautious
and wearing a face mask as a precaution. This is
because the number of cases due to covid-19 is
increasing day by day.

I went to the town at 8 pm, after performing the Follow the SOP that set by the government
Maghrib prayers. I left early because I want to People prefer to take their dinner late
make sure this participation observation runs
smoothly which is starts at 8.30 pm.
I arrived at the restaurant at 8.20 pm. At that
time, I only saw a few customers from outside
the restaurant. Before entering the restaurant, I
must scan the QR code and scan the
temperature. It looks like not many customers
have come yet to enjoy their dinner. I saw only
two or three people queuing to order their food.

When I saw the surrounding, there were still
many tables that not being used by the
customers. So, I chose one table to stay at the
corner of the restaurant. I even chose a table that People started to eat at their dinner at 830

15 November 2020: Observation started-

At 8.30 pm, I saw people start entering the

restaurant. People began queuing to order their

food. Some are busy playing with their phone People fill their time with playing phone and

while waiting for their number to be called. There talking while waiting the number to be called.

In front my table, there was a couple eating nasi

they prefer to talk with each other instead of

doing his work.

There was a one group of Chinese boys who were Boys loves to talk instead of playing with
having their dinner together. Most of them were phone

eating McDonald burger. But, two of them eating

only two pieces of chicken. They also talked a lot
and shared their life activities. I did not see any of
them take out the phone and even played with
the phone. What they do is, they focused on
talking until they finished their meal.

On my right side, there was two girls eating Maybe they want their personal time in
McDonald ice cream. One girl eating Oreo eating
Mcflurry ice cream and the other girl eating
Sundae ice cream. They talked less because two
of them busy with their phone. One of them
looks like updating their photo of dinner with ice
cream in instagram’s story. They only talked for a
while and then they remain silent and look again
at their phone. Both of them enjoying their ice
cream until they left the table.

After 30 minutes doing the participation
observation, I decided to leave the restaurant at
9.00 p.m. and went back to my house. Before
left, I ordered some snacking- fries and Oreo ice
cream to enjoy.
