Indian River State College (IRSC) is a comprehensive four-year state college offering over 160 programs including Quick Job Training, Associate Degrees,

The Florida State University College of Medicine, created in 2000 to produce “compassionate physicians for the 21st century,” is the first new medical
school of the century to be reaccredited. It offers an M.D. degree; a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences; and the M.S. in Biomedical Sciences, Bridge to Clinical
Medicine Major. The College of Medicine’s mission emphasizes patient-centered health care and service to elder, rural, minority and underserved
populations.

FSU medical students spend their first two years at the main campus in Tallahassee. Fort Pierce is one of six Florida cities that host a regional campus,
where students spend years 3 and 4. (The other regional campuses are in Daytona Beach, Orlando, Pensacola and Sarasota as well as Tallahassee.)
There also are rural training sites in Marianna and Immokalee, in addition to Thomasville, Ga.

Rather than learning in an academic medical center, students learn one-on-one from community physicians in their offices, clinics, and other outpatient

the cancer spectrum. The cancer program has maintained accreditation since 1989 by the American College of
Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

The hospital’s high-quality vascular surgery, orthopedic surgery, and neurosurgery techniques and technologies
have earned national recognition. The 43-bed Emergency Department features an acute care area for serious and
potentially life-threatening problems and an express care area for scrapes, cuts, colds and other minor issues.

A 46-bed psychiatric hospital, the Behavioral Health Center, provides inpatient care for children and adults. The
medical center’s stroke program was designated as a Primary Stroke Center of Excellence by The Joint Commission.

Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). SRMC’s Joint Center for Orthopedic
Surgery is recognized as a Marshall-Steele Destination Center.

SRMC offers an array of services including inpatient and medical/surgical services, cardiac catheterization programs
including implant devices, neurosurgery, and spine surgery and a full-service outpatient diagnostic center. SRMC’s
Emergency Room is proud of its ability to see patients within minutes of arrival by an ER staff member and/or a
physician.

In October 2010, Sebastian River Medical Center completed a three-story building expansion project, updating
to a 16-bed Intensive Care Unit and adding 42 private patient rooms. In 2012 and 2013, two brand new cardiac
catheterization labs were built, providing a full suite of cardiac services including diagnostic and interventional
cardiology. In August 2018, SRMC broke ground on an expansion project that will add nearly 94,000 square feet and
more than 20,000 square feet of the existing facility will be renovated, providing an entirely new 10 room operating
suite and 48 additional private patient rooms.

SRMC offers hospital-based Cardiac, Pulmonary and Physical Rehabilitation Programs, Laboratory, Sleep Disorders
Center, Transitional Care Unit, Orthopedic Camp, Thoracic Oncology, Sebastian River Home Health and the Center

obtaining employment or enrolling a child in school. Driver’s license services are
available from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday thru Friday. You may apply in person at
any one of the following Tax Collector’s offices locations:

address. In addition to identity documents, holders of a current out-of-state driver’s

Vehicle registration requires a current driver’s license or identification card, proof of
Florida automobile insurance, prior registration certificate, title and verification of

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS

You are considered a Florida resident when your true, fixed and permanent home and the principal establishment is in Florida. Filing a
declaration of domicile, qualifying for homestead exemption, or registering to vote in Florida can establish residency. Other actions, such as
obtaining a Florida driver’s license, only indicate an intent to establish residency.
Some employers require proof of residency. To establish state residency, applicants are not required to live in Florida for a minimum amount
of time but do have to file a Declaration of Domicile certifying that he/she lives at a given address.
Forms are available from and may be completed at the Clerk of the Circuit Court, Recording Dept., 2000 16th Avenue, Vero Beach, where
the completed document must be notarized.

Florida residents pay no personal income tax, nor do they pay inheritance taxes unless they are subject to a federal estate tax, in which
case the Florida inheritance tax is limited to an amount allowed as a deduction from the federal estate tax.

The real estate tax is a combination of city, county and school taxes and is based on 100% of the appraised value of a property. The tax year

from real estate taxes on the assessed value of a home, if it is their primary residence and if they meet certain other criteria.

SALES TAX

The state sales tax is 6% on the dollar with food, medicine, and professional services exempt. Indian River County is 1% making the total
