The Elk Grove Unified School District Middle School
Band Festival is currently in its twelfth year of
operation and includes performance opportunities for
all nine middle school band programs. The Festival
will be held on Saturday, March 5th, 2022 from 9:40
AM to 3:00 PM, in the Cosumnes Oaks Performing
Arts Center. The Festival invites all of our middle
school bands to perform in a formal setting in front of
a highly reputable adjudicator and clinician, who
listens to and evaluates each ensemble, giving
positive and educational feedback on their concert
selections. We have always enjoyed a positive
experience, both educationally for our students, and
professionally for our band directors, with
opportunities for growth as musicians and artists.
Admission is free, and friends, family, and our
community members are all welcome to attend.

Our New VAPA Director
Jennifer Wilbanks
We would like to introduce Jennifer Wilbanks to our music
community in Elk Grove. Jennifer Wilbanks has been an
educator in the Elk Grove Unified School District for over 24
years. She started her career as a classroom teacher, worked
as a site administrator for seven years, then became the
Director of Visual and Performing Arts in October 2020. She
comes from a family immersed in the arts, so has had a love
of music and visual performance her entire life. Since
childhood she has participated in a variety of arts disciplines,
including competitive Scottish and Irish dancing, and
performing in community theater, both on stage and in the
orchestra. Her father is a retired music educator, which led to
Jennifer learning to play the trombone and piano at an early
age. She is currently a featured trombone player in the
Alpantanzerkapelle, an Austrian/Bavarian band and
folk-dance troupe. In addition, she also serves as the Artistic
Director for the group where she oversees all exhibition
activities and provides direction and guidance to the dance
and band leaders. Jennifer is, and always has been, an
advocate for the arts and for the benefits that a VAPA
education can bring to students at EGUSD.
