grams by itself and this will give you around 38 grams of protein! So, we do not have to depend on non-vegetarian sources of protein. 100 grams of moong dal gives you a whopping 24 grams of protein! Approximately 30 grams of peanuts, which can be tossed in your salad, vegetable, or dal will give you seven grams of protein. A cup of dal will give you an additional 10 grams. Toss in a few nuts and seeds and watch your protein levels rise. Even a 100-gram potato (a small potato) gives you around three grams of protein. So, simply add a potato to your vegetable or snack.
Milk and its products are had daily in the Indian diet, and I will advise you to choose A2 cow’s milk, i.e. desi cow’s milk, to have and make your milk products like dahi, paneer (cottage cheese) and cheese.
How to eat protein
Excess protein is known to cause many ailments in the body such as its leeching on calcium from the body. It can damage the kidneys and can increase uric acid which can cause gout as well as constipation resulting in piles and ssures. A very important thing to remember when you eat a protein is to include a fat and Vitamin C along with it. This will help you assimilate the food better and help your body use proteins adequately. No wonder our pulses and legumes are always cooked with a high Vitamin C ingredient such as lemon, garcinia cambogia, tamarind, tomato, and raw mango powder.
Protein is not all
Remember to add a variety of fruits and green leafy vegetables to ensure that the protein you are consuming is well supplemented by nutrients like iron and zinc. The next time you're wondering what to reach for to get your daily mix of complete protein, the humble dal at mealtimes and a peanut butter sandwich with wholegrain bread at snack time is your best bet!

AHA-MOMENTS
The M acles of
faith
“If you have faith, the size of a mustard seed, you can move mountains!” goes a popular proverb. Really? How can faith, the size of a mustard seed, move mountains, I wondered. It sounded beautiful. I used it once in a while to uplift someone in the doldrums. But honestly, I didn’t believe in it at all.
That is, until I met my guru for life. He spoke with conviction. He spoke of faith being the answer to everything. Moreover, he spoke of the scienti c way in which faith works. This is what he told me, one beautiful evening: All of life gets created from cells; cells replicate each other. If you want a shift, then bring a shift in the thoughts, the feelings, and back it up with faith. From going in a certain way, the entire system now follows a new way. This is what is called trans-formation, which is nothing but transcending the formation; a breakthrough, which is nothing but breaking the patterns as they exist, to create a brand new pattern. Faith, he explained, is, in fact, the highest science.
I couldn’t comprehend it when I heard it. But it certainly felt true. And good. Life, however,

to better understand this word. The one I want to dwell into is my holistic growth centre.
One day, while meditating, a vivid image came into my mind. The image was of a beautiful space where children could learn life—almost like a modern gurukul; a space where adults could nd health sans medicines. At that time, I was just married and had no clue what I was going to do with my life. But one thing I did have was faith. I somehow had this faith that when we think for the larger good, life paves the way.
Chance meetings led me to connect with an uncle who fuelled this vision. Finding a good place in Mumbai is challenging. I did put in a lot of effort but nothing seemed to work. I felt perhaps it was just a vision and didn’t really mean much. Just then, I received a message from my guru asking, “When do you want me to come to Mumbai to launch your centre, your dream?”
Within a week, I found a space even better than my vision. It was in a pathetic condition, but within days, it transformed into
Before I knew it, my guru was there to launch the centre.
I am a woman of poetry and numbers are my blind spot. I had no clue how to run a business. And yet, with faith, everything began to fall into place. I have been running this centre for six years and it now has requests for franchisees from across the world. It has made a difference to more than 50,000 students. In retrospect, I know I was an instrument. What worked all along was faith.
We are a generation of people who doubt our faith and have faith in our doubts; and yet, if we can anchor ourselves to have faithinsomethingorsomeone, itcouldchangeourlives.Infact, it does not matter who you have faith in. What matters is to have faith—un inching faith.

SPECIAL REPORT
A festival of happiness
The fourth consecutive Life Positive International Festival held in Coimbatore offered life-altering healing avenues. A report by Punya Srivastava
Every Life Positive International Festival is an important event for the whole LP team. Preparations start months in advance—work
is delegated, strategies are made, people leave and join, challenges (like the Kerala oods) crop up; all this goes on for weeks together. And yet, each member of the team gives their best to the task at hand with the sole aim of creating a platform that offers spiritual wellness to the waiting audience
“Life Positive expos are unique and very much needed for our spiritual growth. The festival is an amazing opportunity to bene t from having a rst-hand interaction with experts in various modalities. I experienced powerful meditations that provided healing and relaxation,” said Bangalore-based Sukanya Ramani, who participated in the fourth Life Positive International Festival 2018 held in Coimbatore on August 25 and 26. Like Ms Ramani, other participants too felt the therapeutic effect

of the healing workshops organised for them. Unfortunately, Abhakumar Shah’s workshop on Mudra Science had to be cancelled due to a last-minute emergency. However, Dr Vijayalakshmi Panthaiyan more than made up for the cancelled programme with her intensely invigorating workshop on Sanjeevani healing on the second day of the festival that drew a large crowd.
The programme opened with editor Shivi Verma’s welcome address in which she highlighted Life Positive’s constant efforts to offer people a plethora of spiritual wellness tools. Mr DR Kaarthikeyan, President, Life Positive, delivered the closing address at the end of the two-day festival. He appreciated all those attending the festival to gain valuable techniques for body-mind- spirit wellness through cutting-edge facilitators hand-picked for them by team LP. A report:
Understanding karmic cycles through past life therapy by Dr Trupti Jayin
A workshop on past life regression naturally evokes a lot of intrigue in people. Add to it the most popular name in the eld who was seen on the television, and you have got yourself a winning combo.
Dr Trupti Jayin dazzled in her workshop. She put to rest the one and only question that plagues the mind of anyone undergoing a regression: Was it for real or did I imagine it? “One can only imagine something which has its basis in one’s memory bank,” she said, adding, “Thought-energy is interpreted through imagination and that is how one usually gains access to one’s past lives.”
Dr Trupti Jayin opened new doors for the participants
She then proceeded to demonstrate the now scienti cally proven phenomena called ‘hyper- communication’ through an exercise. Participants were asked to form pairs of transmitters and receivers. The transmitters had to visualise or think about a memory while sitting across the receivers. The exercise revealed that most of the receivers were able to perceive the visuals relayed by their partners through imagination. Dr Jayin also explained how the scienti c theory of ‘quantum entanglement’ talks about karma prevailing through time and space in the life of each person existing on the earth realm, thus con rming that science and spirituality are truly two sides of the same coin. The workshop was peppered with guided regression sessions: one on how to delete an embarrassing or limiting self-belief, another to heal a challenging relationship in one’s life, and the last one to heal a troublesome health issue. The last regression session was a revelation for me as I found the root cause of my rapidly

aggravating condition of cervical spondylosis in one of my past lives. I saw myself as a 25/26-year-old in the 13th century who was struck on the back of the neck by a blunt sword. What astounded me more was the realisation that the cervical spondylosis issue ared up in this lifetime just four years ago when I was 25! Few weeks ago, I had suffered a debilitating bout of spondylosis pain for over two weeks which relapsed a day prior to my ight to Coimbatore. The condition prevailed for three back-to-back days and continued to disturb me on the rst day of the festival. I had been sitting in the workshop with ever increasing stiffness and swelling in my neck and shoulders. But as soon as I came out of regression, I felt liberated from the shackles that had been weighing me down. The stiffness and swelling had vanished, leaving me feeling amazingly light and speechless! The pain seems to have gone for good.
Forgiveness: Path to freedom
Being in Sampoorna’s workshop was like entering the room with a heavy sack tied on the back and dropping it fully before exiting it. Participants felt light and liberated at the end of it.
Said Sampoorna, “The common adage ‘Forgive and forget’ never works because memories of hurt do not die. ‘Forgive and remember’ is the new way because, having eliminated the negative feelings associated with a hurtful incident, it simply stays as a memory that does not arouse any feelings in your mind. In the end, only love remains in your heart.”
The best part of the workshop was that she did not ask any of the participants to reveal their personal issues. Instead, she led them through a series of cathartic exercises that helped in surfacing trapped emotions and setting them free. The rst exercise involved touching an object and becoming one with it and then describing the object from its own point of view. As people did it, amazing revelations surfaced, and people saw things that were going unnoticed so far about their surroundings. Then she asked people to speak about their trigger points. Some said betrayal; others, laziness, procrastination, lying, impatience, and so on. Sampoorna explained that our trigger points were areas where we ourselves needed to work on instead of blaming others for having those shortcomings.
For example, if someone’s obstinacy was giving us trouble, we should check in which areas in our life were we being obstinate. “After you have zeroed in on that area, you need to address the energy of obstinacy and say, “I

love you. I am sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.” Explaining its meaning, she said that you say sorry to the pure energy of love which got changed and distorted into its current form, and then you thank it for showing up.”
When you repeat the process several times, your own disdain for the person exhibiting these qualities diminishes and they, as a result, undergo a positive change in themselves. She quoted several examples from her own life when she was faced with dif cult people and relationships; instead of reacting to provocations, she practised the above-mentioned method and healed the issue fully from the root. After that, the participants were led through several exercises that involved venting loudly, pushing off an imaginary burden from their shoulders, saying ‘NO’ strongly and emphatically, pulling punches in the air, and so on.
Groups of three participants each were formed where people took turns to have positive statements, “you forgive, you are forgiven, you are free” whispered to them by the other two in the group. In the end, Sampoorna taught how to use gibberish to release trapped energy from the cells. After this last exercise, participants experienced an immense release and found that they could look at the old hurtful incident dispassionately. They no longer felt any anger or resentment against their wrongdoers.
Said Mr Narendra Kumar Ranka, “I have not felt the kind of happiness I felt today in a long time. Sampoornaji is a great teacher, and we have taken quantum leaps in evolution with her today.”
Dr Panthiyan gave a stellar performance
Alpha mind power: Sanjeevani
The second day of the festival was dedicated to Sanjeevani healing—a guided, healing meditation prepared by renowned mind power therapist, Dr Vijayalakshmi Panthaiyan. Clad in a traditional Kanchivaram beige and maroon silk saree and a string of rudraksha beads around her neck, small-framed Dr Panthaiyan radiated the gigantic aura of someone who knows her business thoroughly. Unlike any previous workshop she had conducted for Life Positive, her Sanjeevani healing workshop was replete with exercises pertaining to emotional and mental cleansing through pranayama, mantra chanting, mudra, and music therapy.
Dr Panthaiyan commenced the workshop with a guided alpha mind power meditation to elevate the collective energy of the hall. She followed it by elucidating upon the impact of various deep-seated emotions on one’s physical health. She then directed everyone to two different

breathing exercises: rhythmic diaphragmatic breathing for mind relaxation and fast-paced chest breathing to keep the mind alert.
The workshop then moved on to Agnikundam meditation to remove all the blockages of the mind. Dr Panthaiyan instructed us to breathe with long inhalations and short, forceful exhalations to bring up the unresolved emotions and exhale them into an imaginary ritual re. I could feel my exhalations getting heavy as if burdened by a load. The vigorous meditation left me feeling light-hearted.
Dr Panthaiyan then proceeded to teach surya pranayama, nadi shuddhi, and bhastrika. This vigorous session was then followed by panchabhoota pranayama in which the participants were told to balance the ve elements (air, water, re, earth, and ether) by holding ve different hand mudras for at least three to ve breath cycles each. “One can relax

one’s agitated self simply by bringing the ve elements within oneself in alignment,” she said. She then proceeded to mantra chanting with the mantras ‘Om’ and ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ repeated 108 times each. Apparently, the ve syllables—na, mah, shi, va, and ya—in the latter mantra are said to balance the root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, and throat chakras.
The last session of the day was dedicated to giving Sanjeevani healing to others. Dr Panthaiyan divided the whole group into smaller groups of four, in which each person was told to invoke the Sanjeevani healing energy in the cosmos and become a channel to transfer it to the other person. By the end of the day, every face sported an energised glow and a big smile.
Said Usharaj Saundararaj, “I am deeply thankful to Life Positive for organising such meaningful programmes for its readers. Waiting to come back again next year.”

SCIENCE AND SPIRITUALITY
Science and Shank a
Fired by a book on Adi Shankaracharya, Rashme Sehgal expounds how the great seer’s Advaita philosophy can be viewed
in the light of modern science
62 LifePositive | OCTOBER 2018

Ihave been a fan of Pavan K Varma’s works for a long time. He has combined a career in diplomacy with politics and writing, and has served as an ambassador to several countries, apart from having been a spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs as well as the director of the Nehru Centre in London. Following retirement from the
MEA, he has served as advisor to the chief minister of Bihar and has also been an MP in the Rajya Sabha. Most signi cantly, he has authored several bestselling books including Ghalib: The Man, The Times; The Book of Krishna; The Great Indian Middle Class; Being Indian, Becoming Indian; and Chanakya’s New Manifesto to Resolve the Crisis Within India.
In his latest book, Adi Shankaracharya: Hinduism’s Greatest Thinker, he has written a detailed account of this great seer’s life and philosophy and how his ndings are being endorsed by modern science. After a long talk with him about the contribution of Adi Shankaracharya to Indian spirituality, I felt compelled to write this piece.
To write an article on one of India’s greatest spiritual thinkers—Adi Shankaracharya—in these troubled times, is to end up either being panned by left-leaning liberals or inviting the wrath of the ultra-right brigade. But Shankara’s understanding of the nature of the universe is receiving validation from modern science. It is amazing how the revelations of modern science in the diverse elds of quantum physics, cosmology, and neurology were anticipated by Adi Shankaracharya, who lived in the eighth century, as revealed in Varma’s book.
The eternal Brahman
The Advaita philosophy, as systematised and propounded by Shankara, is indeed capable of accommodating, to the greatest extent possible, what science is revealing today. He saw Brahman as comprising in nite energy or urja, pure consciousness, and the embodiment of perfect knowledge. This Brahman is eternal and unchanging.
Cosmology, which maps the evolution of the universe, tells us that the universe is near in nite. This has been proven beyond doubt by several telescopes and satellites that are looking into the vast universe, whether they be the Hubble Space Telescope, the International Space Station, or the Cosmic Background Explorer satellite, all of which tell us that our earth is but a small planet orbiting the sun and is part of a much bigger galaxy called the Milky Way. The Milky Way is so vast that it would take 26,000 light years for the earth to reach its centre. Amazingly, there are at least 125 billion such galaxies in the known universe, and each galaxy has 200 billion stars, most of them larger than the sun.
This vast universe is not static; it is constantly expanding and that too at speeds approaching the velocity of light. Space itself is constantly expanding and carrying the galaxies with it. If the universe is in nite in scale, then Shankara’s concept of Brahman is also that of a being who is all-pervasive, beyond boundaries, and cosmic in scale.
Modern science points to evidence that the universe is around fourteen billion years old. This does not rule out that there could have been another universe before the Big Bang, that supposedly brought forth our current universe or that, following the Big Crunch, this universe could self-

destruct in order for another universe to emerge. In other words, cosmology points to the fact that the creation and destruction of the universe is an eternal process. This corresponds to the concept of Brahman as being anant, something that always was and never will not be. Shankara’s formless in nity pulsating through the Brahmand (universe) is in perfect consonance with what cosmology is telling us today. Cosmology is also telling us that this vast universe is underpinned by an intelligence that is veri able because this universe works in perfect harmony that can be calculated to the last second.
To cite an example of this cosmic precision, along with the Big Bang, a huge physical expansion of space occurred, but it happened with complete precision; otherwise, the emerging universe would have collapsed or expanded without any control. As Stephen Hawking said in his A Brief History of Time, “If the rate of expansion one second after the Big Bang had been smaller by even one part in a hundred thousand million million, it would have recollapsed before it reached its present size.” Hawking rightly notes that the universe does seem to have a set of laws in its functioning but that higher power—God as per Hawking or Brahman according to Shankara—has since left the universe to evolve according to them and does not now intervene in it.
The supreme intelligence
In other words, the scientists agree that the universe is governed by a supreme intelligence
at work. What is the nature of this intelligence? Shankara’s answer, in consonance with the latest science, is that the purpose of the universe may be incomprehensible to the human mind, but this is all part of an intelligent design emanating from an inexhaustible source of energy (Brahman). Brahman is the source from which all things emanate and lapse into. It is the one constant, eternal, intelligence personi ed, unchanging and transcendent. Cosmology is saying exactly that today.
Mani Bhaumik, an American of Indian origin, who won fame for his work on lasers, and a member of the American Physical Society, has reiterated that the immanence and transcendence of a higher power bears a resemblance to the concept of Brahman, which the great rishis of the Vedic tradition have seen and experienced in their greatest mediations. Modern science tells us that the whole of the universe is ooded by a sea of energy—a clear light (the self-luminosity of Shankara) that lls what is known as the quantum vacuum.
Modern science also validates Shankara’s view of the empirical world. Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity shows that there is no xed frame of reference to the universe. Einstein also made it clear that the world as we see it is not what actually exists. As scientists probed deeper into the mysteries of the nanoscopic world, they discovered an entire universe of sub-atomic particles consisting of protons, neutrons, quarks, gluons, and bosons—in fact, as many as 200 sub-particles.
64 LifePositive | OCTOBER 2018

Going further, Danish scientist Niels Bohr pointed out that a particle has no absolute properties but is whatever it is measured to be. Many years later, in 1984, a ‘string theory’ was mooted, according to which there were no particles at all—only waves. What Bohr and scientists after him are saying is that objective reality does not exist.
The world around us is not con ned, as we believe, to de ne physicality. On the contrary, it is just a ow of energy in a constant state of ux. As Hawking explains, the matter in the universe is made out of positive energy. The quantum world demolishes the notions of conventional reality, while simultaneously establishing that all phenomena are inherently and constantly in ux.
The interconnected world
But while scientists look outwards, Shankara’s journey was inwards. The outward reality, Shankara said, exists as maya. It exists at a certain level (sat) but is illusionary at another level (asat). Scientists have also proved, through a series of experiments, the interconnected nature of the world, which is in striking conformity with Shankara’s vision. As individuals, we may believe that we are autonomous, but just as there is no division between two separate laser beams, so also, there is no real division between space and time, and between selves. We are all individuals, but individuals within a greater unit, a unity that de nes each of us in terms of others, and gives each of us a stake in eternity.
This essential individuality is now being proven, not only by the inter-relatedness of the macro cosmos but at the subatomic level too, where, as the EPR experiment shows, two electrons are correspondent with each other, even when spatially separated by huge distances. The essential question is that if Brahman is the only reality pervading the universe, why has He created this cosmic multiplicity? Shankara has no clear answer to this question. It is anirvachaniya; inde nable and inexpressible.
Modern science is saying the same. Einstein said, “The most incomprehensible fact about nature is that it is comprehensible.”
“Was it all lucky chance?’ asks Stephen Hawking, then goes a step further to question, “What is it that breathes re into the equations and makes a universe for them to describe? The usual approach of science of constructing a mathematical model cannot answer the questions of why the universe goes to all the bother of existing. Is the uni ed theory so compelling that it brings about its own existence? Or does it need a creator, and, if so, does he have any other effect on the universe? And who created him?” He goes on to say, “The boundary condition of the universe is that it has no boundary. The universe would be completely self-contained, and not affected by anything outside itself. It would neither be created nor destroyed. It would just BE.”
Modern science is thus validating the basic Advaitic concept that, in conformity with the eternal nature of Brahman, the universe too is part of a successive cycle of manifestation and dissolution, and this process is eternal in nature.

with God by Neale Donald Walsch, I was amused to discover that the Divine found the human race quite primitive in nature.
I did not nd it surprising because when I look at society, I nd that our priorities are so lopsided that it’s almost laughable. We put a premium on things that are inconsequential and evade those that are of utmost importance. And even though we spend almost a quarter of our lives in schools and colleges, we graduate with little knowledge of what is essential for successful living.
of us would not get lost in this labyrinth of life. A few subjects that can be included in the syllabus to engender a paradigm shift in the lives of the younger generation are:
Emotional intelligence: Research has proved time and again that a high IQ alone does not guarantee success. Being able to manage our emotions ensures that we take the right decisions, stay out of trouble, and apply emotions to solve the problems of life. The key to enjoying good relationships lies in emotional intelligence.
Health and nutrition: Importance of what constitutes a right diet should be made part of the curriculum. We can have healthy individuals who eat foods that nourish health and ght diseases, without resorting to unnecessary violence to ll their stomachs.
reeling under the ill-effects of gender-based discrimination and violence. Young children must be taught to view the opposite sex as equals and fellow human beings. They should be educated about the inherent divinity and uniqueness of each gender and be made to practice it in their daily lives.
Marriage education: It’s sad that there is no institute that teaches young men and women how to traverse the treacherous terrains of marriage. Plenty of divorces, disappointments, and unhappiness can be prevented if the youth could be schooled in how to be a good partner after marriage and manage the intricacies of relationships as well as parenthood.
Similarly, topics like yoga and meditation, environmental studies, goal-setting and planning, and many others too can be added to this list.
Editor of Life Positive, Shivi Verma is a devotee who found all her answers in loving God passionately.

Raji Menon Prakash’s memorable experience in the ‘Bosnian pyramid complex’ left her mystified, yet exhilarated and healed

Afew months ago, when I got a call asking me if I wanted to join Mohanji’s retreat in the ‘Bosnian pyramid complex,’ I agreed instantly. For two reasons: Sarajevo, with its tumultuous history, had fascinated me for long, and second, we were spending time in the Bosnian pyramids! (I had called back to check
that I had heard the word ‘pyramids’ right.) I knew that nearly all ancient cultures, from America to Asia, built massive monuments thousands of years ago, some of which served as tombs, while others have remained a mystery. I wasn’t surprised to hear that pyramids have also been found in Bosnia, Europe, but I did nd it odd that I had not heard about them before. So, I next did what I do best—I googled ‘Bosnian pyramids.’ Needless to say, I found the search results fascinating, peppered with continuing discoveries of new pyramids, on land or under the ocean, and faced with questions about the timetable of what we have come to know as our history, which keeps changing with each new nd. The other interesting thing I found was that I could volunteer and

actually be on the dig if I wanted to; I would be guided by geologists and archaeologists, but I didn’t necessarily have to be one.
I went by road from Zagreb to Sarajevo on a warm summer day, along with a group of people. The journey was uneventful but the landscape scenic, and the time passed rather quickly, watching some interesting small Bosnian towns and villages. Over the next few days, we visited various parts of the pyramid complex, including the underground tunnels, the archaeological park, various ancient mounds and structures as well as the pyramids themselves. Our trip covered the Pyramid of the Sun, Pyramid of the Moon, Pyramid of the Dragon, Pyramid of Love, the prehistoric underground tunnels, and other ancient structures such as the Tumulus. We also had several talks and discussions with Mohanji and meditations in the tunnels throughout the tour, which often aided in activating energies related to the pyramids and ourselves.
Dr Sam, the controversies, and the pyramids
The pyramids are located in the valley town of Visoko, near the capital, Sarajevo. Visoko sits right at the foot of the largest Bosnian pyramid discovered so far: the Pyramid of the Sun, which can be seen from pretty much anywhere in the town. Many authors say the ‘Bosnian pyramid complex’ is around 12,000 years old and was
built by a mysterious group of people. The pyramid complex, being one of the largest on Earth and interconnected through a network of underground tunnels, was discovered by Dr Sam Osmanagich (a Bosnian businessman, archaeologist, anthropological professor, and author) during a visit to Visoko. While observing the hillside that overlooks Visoko, he found it remarkably pyramidal. Soon after some initial investigations, he founded a non- pro t organisation called the “Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun’ Foundation to further investigate and help educate others of their ndings. He says that the original pyramid is in Bosnia, the oldest and largest ever constructed.
“It’s an exact zero-degree North orientation and is potentially the key to releasing information about ancient technology that can free the world of its dependence on fossil fuel along with offering the possibility of nding astounding medical breakthroughs in the scienti c community.”
Dr Osmanagich not only claims to have discovered four pyramids, but he as well as many others are convinced that these pyramids are traces of a lost people. He theorises that both the Meso-American and Egyptian pyramids are the work of the same
70 LifePositive | OCTOBER 2018

people who built the four pyramids at Visoko and that the pyramid complex could be, in his words, “the mother of all the pyramids.”
Dr Sam and his organisation have come under re over the years as their ndings go against what our current textbooks tell us about human history. Despite their holding international conferences since 2008 and garnering the support of over 200 international experts from various elds of study, there are still many who claim that the Bosnian pyramids are a fraud. Some people also feel that the pyramid discoveries are simply a way of bringing tourism, and hence prosperity, back to the region. I admit that I did nd some poverty around, but I also found my experiences at the pyramids rather amazing!
The Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon
We visited the Pyramid of the Sun rst. We climbed up to see the huge block of ‘concrete’ that was exposed at one of the many excavation sites around the Sun Pyramid. It was quite a moment and I could feel the scepticism rise up. The Pyramid was covered in soil and vegetation, like it has been for thousands of years, but due to its size, its pyramidal shape can still be seen quite easily. Due to being Bosnia’s capital in medieval times, a fortress was built on top of the pyramid, which has somewhat given the top an uneven shape. It is orientated such that the sides of the pyramid face North, South, East, and West. The West face continues into the hills, like a very large entrance hallway, which, I was told by our guide, is much like how other old pyramids around the world are built. The other pyramids are harder to see, mostly
Spiritual Travel 71

According to Dr Sam, several clay samples of the ‘concrete’ which were found near its site, independently tested to be 29,200 years old, plus or minus 400 years, making the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun to be the largest and oldest pyramid discovered so far.
due to the large amount of soil movement and deposits over thousands of years as well as the vegetation that has grown over them. Most of the discoveries, therefore, have been con rmed by excavation and underground scanning technologies, and much of this has been left exposed so that visitors can see for themselves. Interestingly, carbon- dating investigations by several independent organisations all con rm that the soil on top of the Sun Pyramid is around 24,800 years old! When digging deeper, Dr Sam and his volunteers found all excavation sites around the pyramid to be covered in ‘concrete’ that was probably formed from shale and clay. The ‘concrete’ is laid down in layers that are three times thicker at the corners of the pyramid. Our guide told us that it has been independently tested and found to be harder than the hardest modern concrete. He also told us that several clay samples of this ‘concrete’ were independently tested to be 29,200 years old (plus or minus 400 years), making the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun to be the largest and oldest pyramid discovered so far. The guide was quite precise with his information about the various technologies and the laboratories involved, but my mind was still processing everything I was feeling—the earliest intelligent life form may have stood where I was standing!
In the midst of all the speculation about what could be there, its uses, and so on, Dr Sam and his team have made available the measurements of the energy emanating from the sides and top of the pyramids as well as other local structures; as this information is easily available online, I have not included it here.
The Moon pyramid has paved terraces that we walked up and is a bit ‘bent’ in some places. This, the guide told me, was because there is a lot of tectonic activity in the area, that is pushing the blocks and clay upwards. This could mean that the Moon Pyramid does not have a man-made foundation at the bottom. The material is sandstone blocks and clay, as opposed to the large slabs of the Sun Pyramid. I also found that many of the blocks from the Moon Pyramid had been taken by private property owners of the sites of the structure, to sell to tourists. This pyramid has a at top, the reason for which is, as yet, not known, but I did read that it could mean that this pyramid is an un nished project. According to a sample of an organic material that was found on one of the paved terraces, the age of the structure is over 10,000 years old. The Pyramid of Love seemed wild in comparison. I did not climb this, though the terrain seemed lovely.

Mohan ji and few others inside one of the Ravne tunnels
Ravne tunnels: Healing properties and the energy phenomena
We then went to the Ravne tunnels. The tunnels are about 2.5 km south-west of the Pyramid of the Sun and are one of the most mysterious tunnelsintheworld.Thetunnels, alongwith various meditation platforms and intriguing scienti c structures donated by groups from various countries, form the Archaeological Park. The structure of the tunnels is fascinating and the energy is intense. The tunnels appear to be kept from falling in by energetic tension or memory of some sort. Walking into the tunnels, I felt warm and welcomed. The tunnels are not angular but gently curved and have multiple entrances that are interconnected. One of these tunnels, which could be a new entrance, is the Ravne 2 tunnel, discovered in 2015. But I did wonder, as many others have, what the tunnels are used for? Dr Sam’s opinion is that the Ravne tunnels were ancient mines and that the rst civilization which built the pyramids, dug these tunnels, using this material for the concrete blocks at the Bosnian Sun Pyramid. In more than a decade of research, it has been found that the mysterious prehistoric tunnels
beneath the Bosnian pyramids possess healing energy. The constant presence of bene cial electromagnetism was measured and found to be the best energy eld for the physical, mental, and spiritual faculties. Additionally, an extraordinarily high concentration of negative ions was found—up to 60,000 per cubic centimetre, which is ten times the concentration in, for example, pristine forests on mountains. Also, there is an absence of harmful cosmic rays and natural radioactivity, conditions in which, scientists say, the cells of the human organism can begin self-healing and regeneration.
Deeper inside, ‘ceramic sculptures’ have been discovered which resemble megaliths, but X-rays reveal they are hollow inside. There was no technical radiation (from power lines and/or other technology) or cosmic radioactivity found in the tunnels, and the ceramic sculptures positioned over the underground water streams transform the negative energy into positive.

My experience
The rst day, I explored the energy around me, albeit gingerly. I did feel something, that increased when I went higher and closer to a ‘gap’ in the earth. It did not make me feel quiet and calm but lled me up vibrantly. I inquired with others and everyone had some experience; the intensity varied, of course. A couple of days later, we hiked up a steep trail and reached the top. I could feel that the energy at the peak of the pyramid was powerful yet different. When I was lower, I thought that the energy was more powerful. I found that others had felt that way too; the energy actually becomes more powerful the further you move away from the pyramid’s peak, and as the guide told me, it suggests uses in intergalactic communication. I also heard a few stories of people who had awakenings whilst spending time at the pyramid’s peak. The energy I felt here was masculine, angular, and steep. At times the energy was not harmonious, but it was intense. Meditations at the Moon Pyramid were gentle and calming. The energy was more feminine.
I walked into the Ravne tunnel and the rst thing that struck me was that the tunnels were not angular; rather like caves, they were softly curved. The entrance seemed to be paved with unnaturally regular stones. There

are strange prehistoric ceramics with rune symbols on them that are around as old as the Pyramid of the Sun, whose vibrations every one of us could feel. Other components, found here, have not been completely understood thus far but contribute to the energy systems of the pyramids.
Usually, the deeper you go into caves or tunnels, the air quality worsens. But here the air just got better! As you enter, you get 15,000 Bovis units of cosmo- telluric energy (that’s ions to you and me). Just 15 metres in, you get 25,000 Bovis—all scienti cally measured. (For comparison, the energy in the Swiss Alps measures 15,000 Bovis units.) On top of the Sun Pyramid, a plume of energy measures 50,000 Bovis!
There are many photos that people have taken showing thousands of orbs. Did I see any? Yes, I did. And I know I looked at them with reverence, entranced by being a part of something that was so ancient, so powerful, that I almost forgot to breathe. Could this be ancient man’s healing centre? De nitely—going by the air quality. The network of rivers owing around the pyramids could have supplied enough energy to make it work. And there are a lot of documented tests on volunteers that suggest the healing energy is still working today. I felt the energy here to be clean and unpolluted—very healing. I could feel my lungs ll up with so much oxygen and also felt a lot of mental clarity. I came out in silence, suspending my disbelief and accepting that some things were beyond my comprehension.
I left Bosnia and the pyramids, taking back with me a different type of tness: one that was rooted in the breath. Every hike, I wafted through pockets of clean crisp air, where the trees and owers had taken the time to over ow, leaving their fragrance behind. The sun broke through the clouds, the world peeped through the warming air, all fresh and sparkling, as though just back from the launderette. In the silence, smells, and the gentle camaraderie of the local people, I carried back the vibrancy of the Ravne tunnels.

SPIRIT
Bey d resistance
It is not the mind-stuff that blocks us from the present moment. It is the resistance to the mind-stuff that does so, says Suma Varughese
The holy grail for those of us on the jnana path is to remain stable in the present moment; which is to say, remain stable regardless of how much the bronco of life is kicking and heaving, or neighing and whinnying. Every moment brings a new challenge. Either the mind is prancing off chasing a brown study, is immersed in a fantasy about the future, resisting the back pain that has suddenly manifested, or recalling the insult meted out by a colleague. The mind is bouncing about all the time, and unless one is super alert, it inevitably sucks us into its preoccupations; and there goes the present moment.
Of course, the heart of the practice is to attain such a high level of consciousness that no matter how compelling the lure of the body and mind, we can transcend it effortlessly. How do we do that? Of late, what has been working for me is the realisation that what comes in the way is not the thought, feeling, or sensation, but our default resistance to it. Unconsciously, we are in a state of deep resistance to thoughts, uncomfortable feelings, or sensations, and resistance immediately blocks us from the present moment.
So, I have been consciously welcoming everything that shows up in the mind space, for I realise that each of it will lead me to the present moment if I do not resist it. Thus, when jealousy shows up, I am learning to welcome it. If I resist the jealousy, I enter into a vicious cycle of feeling jealous, feeling bad about feeling jealous, feeling bad about feeling bad and so on ad in nitum.
Resentment, anger, grief, guilt, discomfort with self, even just spools of thought, will all lead you to the present moment if you do not resist them. Staying with these feelings and experiencing them deeply will inevitably cause you to breathe deeply, and after a time, the feelings will vanish, leaving you at a deep level of peace.
The amazing experience of being able to be comfortable with even the most uncomfortable physical sensations or emotional turbulence frees one of the fears that always surrounded one.
For instance, I was always afraid of my lack of self-control, which would cause me to act impulsively or even recklessly. I would put a tempting morsel in the mouth even though it would
not be in my interest to do so. But now, self-control is slowly creeping in because all I have to do is to be with the feeling of being tempted.
Even red-hot anger is a comfortable companion when you spend time in its company and slowly breathe into it until it losesitscharge.Howwonderful to control it within oneself instead of spewing it out into the world.
Of course, I lose track of my thoughts and feelings all too often, but when I do return to consciousness, I no longer berate myself for having got lost in my thoughts. Instead, I happily embrace the absent- mindedness because only that will lead me to the moment. Freeing myself increasingly of my habitual resistance is also loosening up the body and enabling it to relax.
So remember not to resist resistance!

Dauntless D ga
Aparna Dedhia narrates a heart-warming story of a little girl who,
with her unshakeable courage and large-heartedness,
78 LifePositive | OCTOBER 2018
had a healing effect on her and her friends

We all are a little broken. But the last time I checked, broken crayons still colour the same.
We were strolling along the bank of the river Ganges, under the celestial sky, mesmerised by the oating diyas—little lamps let loose in the Ganges by devotees— meandering the course of the river. As we neared the Sai Mandir, at Triveni Ghat, we met this little chit of a girl, selling little dough
balls to feed the sh, who taught us a few of life’s priceless lessons.
All of us bought some dough balls to feed the sh. One of us went an extra mile and bought all her stock. A big smile lit up her lovely face, and she exclaimed, “Tonight I am going to cook up a feast for me and my siblings with all this extra money!”
Our curiosity got the better of us, and we started bombarding her with a multitude of questions like “What was she doing so late in the evening sitting in the dark near the Sai Mandir, near Triveni Ghat ?”; “Didn’t she go to school?”; “Why was she going to cook, wasn’t she too young to cook ?”; and “Where was her mother?”
She opened up slowly and told us that her family hailed from a small village near Varanasi. Her name was Durga and she was one of the younger siblings; they were a brood of four sisters and two brothers. Durga and her family, survived on the meagre earnings of their mother, Shalini Devi, who did menial jobs, to sustain the family of seven.
She had lost her father, a daily wage labourer, who was a habitual drinker prone to abuse. In India, there are several families where men have taken to abusing alcohol. The women work very hard to earn wages and run the household but their limited incomes are often squandered away by their husbands, on alcohol. They also single-handedly have to shield themselves and their children from the spouse’s violent behaviour.
Freedom from torture
One day, after a bout of heavy drinking, Durga’s bapu (father) burst a gas cylinder while lighting a beedi (an Indian cigarette). In no time, their entire hut was in ames. They lost him in the accident. Luckily, they were at the village for the summer holidays and hence survived that fateful day.
Inspiration 79

There are many kids like little Durga who, despite the poverty surrounding them, are full of joy and aspire to lead a fruitful life
Was it a blessing in disguise? His death gave the family respite as he used to blow up all the money he and his wife earned on alcohol, leaving the children to survive on scraps, thus putting an end to years of physical abuse and domestic squabbles. The family struggled to make ends meet but managed to survive with Durga supplementing the income by selling dough balls after school hours, sometimes accompanied by a friend.
Today, her mother, Shalini Devi, had gone to their village. She and her elder sister, who was all of 16 years, were looking after their family of six siblings. Tonight, with all the extra money she got, she was going to treat all of them to an extra serving of vegetables and hot rotis, and top it off with dahi (yogurt) sweetened with sugar.
Big dreams
“I aspire to be the next Mary Kom,” she announced and went on to tell us how she and a friend of hers practice daily, using plastic jholas as makeshift gloves, and a punching bag devised by them, to practice boxing.
She told us that people around her bless her when she touch their feet, with benedictions like “May you beget the best husband” and “May you have a long and happy married life.” Her regret was that no one ever asked her what her aspirations were or what career she would like to choose. No one ever showered her with blessings for a long and ful lling career. Isn’t it a paradox
80 LifePositive | OCTOBER 2018

Durga’s awareness of her troubled past and a dif cult present did not diminish her hopes for a dazzling future. Her sagacity was beyond her years.
that in a country where women are worshipped in the form of Kali, women are still expected to be mere homemakers, their career aspirations taking a backseat?
If not Mary Kom, she would de nitely like to join the Indian police and become a lady police inspector. She desired to protect the women of her kith and kin from the atrocities in icted upon them at home and at work. She wanted to make money, so she would be able to give her siblings the chance of a better life and be a guardian angel to the womenfolk of her country.
An inspiration for all
Her answers, which gave an insight into her indomitable spirit and zest for life in spite of the hardships she faced, had all of us looking inwards with gratitude and counting our blessings. Her awareness of her troubled past and a dif cult present did not diminish her hopes for a dazzling future. Her sagacity was beyond her years and had us bowled over.
No encounter with any saint in Rishikesh could help us replenish ourselves and nothing would equal our lesson from this evolved soul. With her dreams of a better life, not only for herself but her siblings too, and with her desire to serve the women of her country, little Durga enlightened us, healing our hearts on that dark wintery night in Rishikesh.
God can help us write our own stories, help us forget our darkest moments, and show us the light at the end of the tunnel. We can be the author of our own story, write every chapter with conviction, and mould our future.

ESOTERICISM
The three f ms of Lakshmi
82 LifePositive | OCTOBER 2018

Worship Goddess Lakshmi in both Her material and spiritual avataars this Deepawali to invite prosperity in your life, says Baba Vyas
Dhyanam:
Hiranyavarnaan harineen suvarnarajatasrajaam. chandran hiranamayeen lakshmeen janavedo maroh.
We adore Lakshmi, who has the nature of supreme peace and the lustre of gold; whose form is radiant, wearing gold and possessing all ornaments; who carries a golden chalice and a golden lotus; whose hands give gold, the original power; the mother of all, who dwells at the side of Lord Vishnu.
Connection between the lotus and Goddess Lakshmi
The lotus, the most sacred ower, is the symbol of unfoldment that represents different chakras of the body. Although it grows in mud, it maintains its serenity and purity. Goddess Lakshmi is sometimes called Kamala—the name of the lotus. Kamala is one of the ten wisdom goddesses. Goddess Lakshmi arises out of the lotus from a cosmic ocean. She is the symbol of wealth, beauty, love, devotion, and fertility. She is the mother, ful lling all the desires with her divine love and grace.
Connection between Kamala and Sundari
Both goddesses, Kamala and Sundari, rule over love. Kamala conducts the outer beauty and causes us to create forms in the outer world. Sundari governs the bliss form of the self and allows us to merge our outer world into the consciousness. Kamala is the form that relates to the earth and nourishes whatever we desire and aspire to achieve. She allows the divine grace in many forms. Kamala is worshipped for both spiritual as well as worldly matters and is the essence of all the tanmatras, which means all the subtle elements in the universe.
Worldly and spiritual wealth
Kamala is the highest form of Lakshmi that symbolises the spirit of giving all that we seek. We worship goddess Kamala the most as we seek outer beauty and abundance above all. We get everything we ask for, from Kamla. It is by worshipping her that one can put an end to all outer

seeking. She unfolds the inner power of our perception to help us seek beauty in the
simplest of things in Mother Nature.
Connection between Kamala, Lakshmi, and Kaali
Kamala, Lakshmi, and Kaali are all forms of Shakti, but all these have something unique to bless with. Kamala is the Wisdom Goddess and relates to the practice of yoga. She is a part of Lakshmi as well as Kaali. Kaali, the beauty of Void, helps us to detach ourselves
from all
worldly matters.
Only after true detachment learnt from Kaali, can one enjoy the ful lment of life and the blessings of Kamala; she blesses only when they surrender all their desires and attachment to the eternal
reality.
Meditation form of Goddess Kamala
Goddess Kamala resides in the heart chakra of the body with divine grace and grants us with perfect beauty and happiness. She is golden in colour and sits on a lotus, with her hands gesturing a granting of boons. She has a lotus and a water pot in her other hands and one of her legs hanging down. She is also portrayed as being bathed by elephants, as water is the symbol of grace and love. Goddesses Kamala is portrayed as the symbol of beauty, fertility, and love.
Power mantra
The beej mantra for Goddess Kamala is the same as that of Goddess Lakshmi—Shreem, the mantra that grants all the boons of life. It is a mantra for beauty, abundance, love, fertility, devotion, surrender, and liberation.

Deepawali: Shri Mahalakshmi Anushthanam
Deepawali is the day for worshipping Goddess Lakshmi, Goddess Kamala, and Goddess Kali. Deepawali Mahalakshmi Anushthanam will be organised at our religious centre at Jodhpur, Rajasthan, for three days to welcome wealth, prosperity, and abundance in life along with the blessings of Goddess Mahalakshmi.
This Anushthanam will be performed according to authentic Vedic rituals and mantra chanting by taking sankalpam. You can be a part of this Vedic Mahalakshmi Anushthanam from November 5–7, 2018, by sending your name, mother’s name, and date of birth at support@ astrovedvyas.com or visit www.astrovedvyas. com for more details about the prayer.

POSITIVE FOCUS
Change yourself and change your world
I began my mystical search during my college years in the early seventies in San Diego, California. I knew there was more to life beyond the physical world. I had heard about chakras, and I wanted to experience the light within them. And where does a then-young- seeker turn to nd as much as possible about chakras? To the literature of India, of course!
I come across my rst books of Summit University Press, The Human Aura and Intermediate Studies of the Aura, by the ascended masters Djwal Kul and Kuthumi through Elizabeth Clare Prophet. I bought the books but didn’t read them. Not until one year later, after many tests for my soul—complete with several failures and hard lessons—did I open those pages. And then the chakras came alive in my inner being.
Little did I know that if I had read the books a year earlier and understood more about the chakras—and their uses and misuses—I would have saved myself the grief of learning my lessons through the hardships of returning karma. I would have learned that there is a spiritual violet re, or agni, that was ready to dissolve karma, clear my chakras, and help me become more of who I really am. I would have realized that our goal is to learn our lessons in lifetimes, balance our karma, and ful l our missions before we ascend to become one with our own God-Reality, Om Tat Sat.
It is no wonder, then, that after 30 years of training in the teachings of Mark and Elizabeth Prophet, my colleague in Delhi, Jaspal Soni,
Lois Drake
and I offer the Summit University course, ‘Experience the Light Within—Through the Blessings of Violet Agni’ on October 13 and 14, 2018 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
We will discuss the difference between the simple rainbow spectrum noted as chakra colours, and the ascended-master pastels that carry frequencies and attributes of God’s light. We will learn the types of music that can cause the chakras to invert and spill their precious energy while deceiving a person with a false sense of exhilaration.
We will explore how one’s life, health, and relationships can change for the better by engaging our chakras and applying the violet agni. Over two days, we will cover many chakra-related topics that are little-known to most people, culminating in take-home practices, a chakra clearance, and a unique third-eye blessing.

Manage anger with
peaceful Psycho
Neurobic Programming
By Dr BK Chandrashekhar
It is said that anger can kill and mind can heal. But it is not the anger that kills; it is the way we choose to process the anger that could hurt us or make us sick. The body is a mirror of our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. Our cells have an intelligence of their own, and they respond to every thought we think, every emotion we have, and every word we speak. A repetitive pattern of thinking and suppressing negative emotions such as anger, resentment, bitterness, and hatred can and will eventually manifest as dis- ease of mind and consequentially,
as diseases in the body. Literally, suppressed emotions become like ticking bombs waiting for the perfect conditions to detonate and manifest as diseases.
Anger is undoubtedly a self-
defeating and self-destructive emotion. It can cause physical problems like disturbed sleep, tiredness, hypertension, heart problems, ulcers, stiffness in the joints, cancer, and other physical complications. Anger, when out of control, can lead to violence against someone you are close to, leading to physical injury and even fatalities. You may say or do things that you cannot undo and damage your relationships.
Anger management with peaceful Psycho Neurobic Programming
As darkness is the absence of light, in the same way, anger is the absence of peace and happiness. To manage anger, we simply need to
programme our mind with peace and joy. For that to happen, we need to raise the vibration of our brain cells with the frequencies of colours, with a feeling of peace in our heart while holding the hand in vayu mudra (see the picture below). When we focus on a 3D image, our brain becomes sharply focused and resonates with the frequencies of the colours on which we concentrate. This resonance further tunes the related chakra and develops the positive emotions related to that chakra
and heals holistically. Three minutes of concentration on a 3D image is equivalent to 30 minutes of meditation.
Follow the given steps for ve minutes twice a day, regularly:
• Concentrate on the blue 3D psycho
neurobic image to resonate your mind with the frequency of peace for three minutes.
• Meditate on the peaceful psycho neurobic video for two minutes. You can view/download it from here: https://tinyurl.com/ydh963wr
The regular practice of this exercise wipes away the imprints of anger, irritation, and stress permanently from your mind and lls it with peace. It also helps you get rid of cervical spondylitis, neck pain, and thyroid problems.

Six glorious years of transforming lives
Whenever we go through an intense experience, the mind and body store it in our psyche. Unknown to us, these ‘memories’ colour the way we view our current life—ourselves, our relationships, and our worldview. Regression is a tool used by psychiatrists and spiritual scientists alike to help us revisit our past (childhood/foetal stage) and unearth the root cause of issues that are currently interfering with our lives.
Spiritual scientists take it to the next level by helping us revisit our past lives with the intent of resolving underlying issues that prevent us from living fully in our current life. Past life regression (PLR) helps strengthen the mind-body- spirit connection more profoundly, allowing for increased awareness and liberation in daily life.
Under the guidance of Dr Newton Kondaveti, MD—a world-renowned pioneer in the elds of past life regression, energy medicine, and spiritual science—and Dr. Lakshmi GV, Vice President, Association for Regression and Reincarnation Research (ARRR) have organised the past life regression conference over the last ve editions to spread awareness and experience of PLR as a therapeutic technique for better living.
Past Life Regression Conference 6 (PLRC6) is the sixth edition of the one-of-a-kind two- day event, bringing together some of the most eminent Indian and global voices in the PLR and spiritual community for a series of workshops and presentations. It is a two-day festival full of love, laughter, and celebration, where one can experience profound transformation and wellness-immersion unlike any other.
There will be pre-conference workshops on December 14, 2018, at Taj Lands End, Mumbai,
from 10 am to 5 pm.
Spirit release by Doug Buckingham, Clinical Hypnotherapy Practitioner and Regression Trainer (United Kingdom): Achieve a deeper understanding of spirit attachments and learn to release them.
Advanced therapeutical treatment for past life regression by Lorna and John Jackson, Clinical Hypnotherapists and Spiritual Regression Trainers (Australia): Learn to facilitate healing of a current life issue that originates in past lives.
PLRC6 Conference will be on December 15 and 16, 2018, at Taj Lands End, Mumbai, from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. The event will open with a keynote address on principles of past life therapy and the science of co-creation by Dr Newton Kondaveti and Dr Lakshmi GV, followed by various simultaneous workshops. The highlight of the event will be clinical hypnotherapist, Doug Buckingham’s workshop, ‘Working with Limiting Beliefs: Their effects on your consciousness and thereby, your life’, followed by a group exercise.

Living
Nonduality Enlightenment Teachings of Self-Realization
ROBERT WOLFE
There is probably no person alive who has not pondered that which some intellects have termed ‘ultimate reality’- the source of animation and activation that expresses the phenomenon that we call life. Because this noumenon is immaterial, to the senes, it is sometimes described as ‘spirit’.
An interest in the spiritual need not have any inherent relationship with what is defined as religion. It can be free of required beliefs; of worship of forms (or even the absence of form); of dictates of regulated behaviour; or of ideas of right versus wrong. It can be
free of all doctrine or dogma, allowing you to discern and verify for yourself what is true...
This book is not an inquiry into the supposed existence (or non-existence) of a god or gods, but an investigation into the relationship (if any) between the self, that you are conscious of, and the ultimate reality in which you are conscious of it. And this is a discovery which can be immediate and direct, without reliance on any religious propositions.

REVELATIONS
A quest and an awakening
The Answer
Director: Pavan Kaul Producer: Kaveeta Oberoi Kaul
Actors: Victor Banerjee, Leonidas Gulaptis
Rashmi Rawat
James Donald Walter, who was born in Romania, grew up unlike other boys his age; money and materialistic possessions did not interest him. He wanted to touch people’s lives. At the age of 22, he moved to America in a quest to nd meaning in life, a childhood pursuit that he grew up with. And life took him straight at the feet of Paramhansa Yogananda.
The lm The Answer is the life story of the same young boy who later came to be known as Swami Kriyananda, Yogananda’s direct disciple and the founder of Ananda, a worldwide movement of spiritual intentional communities based on the Master’s vision of creating world brotherhood colonies. The movie beautifully traces Walter’s struggle to nd out his purpose in this materialisticworld.Hewanted totouchpeople’slivesthrough empathy, affection, and humility, and live for love, not money. The question ‘how?’ forms the narrative of this spiritual saga.
Once, while gazing at the books in a bookstore, he came across Yogananda’s best-selling masterpiece, Autobiography of a Yogi. At rst glance, he looked past it, but since this was destined to be a life-changing moment for him, Walter’s inner voice encouraged him to rif e through the pages. While reading, he found himself connecting deeply with the
author. Tremendously inspired by the deeply spiritual contents of the book, he decided to renounce the worldly life and embark upon a spiritual journey.
The lm powerfully etches out a young Walter’s angst to nd the purpose of life. The purity of his heart and the sincerity of his intentions is portrayed beautifully by the lead actor Victor Gulaptis who emotes convincingly with his eyes. Victor Banerjee, who plays Paramhansa Yogananda, has injected life into the challenging role of portraying a spiritual guru. Not even in a single frame does he appear any less than the realised Master himself. The movie is powerful enough to stoke the embers of spiritual seeking in an ordinary viewer. It makes the viewers want to be Walter himself and dedicate their lives to seeking what is true, pure, and sacred in life. The movie has the vibrations of the gurus that leaves the viewer with the realisation that we are none but the pure essence of God Himself.

TEACHING STORY
Alexander humbled
When Alexander came to India, he discovered that out of all the countries he had conquered, the most truthful and wise people were found in India. So, he expressed his desire to meet the Indian philosophers and the saints. He was taken to the Indus river where he met a saint. Alexander was overwhelmed by the spiritual personality of the saint and said, “O great soul, I request you to grace me by accompanying me to my country. I shall offer you anything and everything you might require.” The saint smiled and said, “I am everywhere. I am omnipresent.” Alexander was not able to understand what the saint meant and offered him temptations. The saint again refused to come with him saying, “I don’t stand in need for anything.” Alexander felt insulted and in anger, drew his sword to kill him. Seeing this the saint burst into laughter saying, “Children sit on the sand, play with it, construct small houses out of it, and then demolish them themselves. The sand does not lose anything in the process. It remains the same as before. For me, the body is like a house of sand which is built according to the innate tendencies of man. I am sand; I was never a house. If anyone wants to demolish it, he is only demolishing his own house. The sand remains the same."
On hearing this Alexander's sword fell from his hands.
• Life cannot be against you, for you are life itself. Life can only seem to go against the ego’s projections, which are rarely in harmony with the truth.
• Your heart is the light of this world. Don’t cover it with your mind.
• Surrender is not weakness; it is strength. It takes tremendous strength to surrender life to the supreme—to the cosmic unfolding.
• If I could give you only one piece of advice, I would say: Don’t identify with anything. Be completely empty; be no-body and see if you lose anything but delusion.
• As long as there is desire in you, especially for someone or something to make you happy, paradoxically, this is the surest way to make yourself feel lack and therefore miserable.
JUST FOR LAUGHS
The monks’ resolution
Four monks agreed to meditate in silence for a week without speaking a single word. On the first day, they all maintained silence. But as darkness fell, the flame of their only candle began to flicker. “Oh, the flame is going out,” said one monk. “We should not speak a single word,” said the second monk. “Why did you two speak?” asked the third monk. “Ha! I am the only one who did not talk!” said the fourth!

INSPIRATION
Indispensable man
Sometime when you’re feeling important; Sometime when your ego’s in bloom
Sometime when you take it for granted
You’re the best qualified in the room,
Sometime when you feel that your going
Would leave an unfillable hole,
Just follow these simple instructions
with water,
Put your hand in it up to the wrist,
Pull it out and the hole that’s remaining
Is a measure of how you’ll be missed.
The moral of this quaint example
Is do just the best that you can,
Be proud of yourself but remember,
There’s no indispensable man.
ONE-MINUTE WISDOM
Peace is in you
“Don’t worry about anything at all. You are not here by accident. This form is just a costume for a while. But the one who is behind the costume, this one is eternal. You must know this. If you know this and trust this, you don’t have to worry about anything. This world is so full of love. And your heart, your being, is so full of love, so full of peace. You don’t have to go someplace else to find peace. It is right where you are.” —Mooji
And see how they humble your soul;

QUOTE “Be ever restful in your heart. A quiet spirit will help you to instantly resolve problems that might
Take a bucket and fill it
otherwise require days, weeks, or even months of fretful pondering.” —Swami Kriyananda
