OFFSET LiTHOGRAPHY PRiNTiNG PRESS
O set printing is a widely used modern printing process. This technology is best
described as when a positive (right-reading) image on a printing plate is inked and
transferred (or "o set") from the plate to a rubber blanket. The blanket image becomes
a mirror image of the plate image. An o set transfer moves the image to a printing
substrate (typically paper), making the image right-reading again. O set printing utiliz-
es a lithographic process which is based on the repulsion of oil and water. The o set
process employs a at (planographic) image carrier (plate) which is mounted on a press
cylinder. The image to be printed obtains ink from ink rollers, while the non-printing
area attracts an (acidic) lm of water, keeping the non-image areas ink-free. Most o set
presses utilize three cylinders: Plate, blanket, impression. Currently, most books and
newspapers are printed using o set lithography.

SCREEN PRiNTiNG PRESS
Screen printing is a printing technique where a mesh is used to transfer ink onto a
substrate, except in areas made impermeable to the ink by a blocking stencil. A blade or
squeegee is moved across the screen to ll the open mesh apertures with ink, and a
reverse stroke then causes the screen to touch the substrate momentarily along a line of
contact. This causes the ink to wet the substrate and be pulled out of the mesh apertures
as the screen springs back after the blade has passed. One colour is printed at a time, so
several screens can be used to produce a multi-coloured image or design.

GRAVURE PRiNTiNG PRESS
Gravure printing is an intaglio printing technique, where the image being printed is
made up of small depressions in the surface of the printing plate. The cells are lled with
ink, and the excess is scraped o the surface with a doctor blade. Then a rubber-covered
roller presses paper onto the surface of the plate and into contact with the ink in the cells.
The printing cylinders are usually made from copper plated steel, which is subsequently
chromed, and may be produced by diamond engraving; etching, or laser ablation.
Gravure printing is used for long, high-quality print runs such as magazines, mail-order
catalogues, packaging and printing onto fabric and wallpaper. It is also used for printing
postage stamps and decorative plastic laminates, such as kitchen worktops

FLEXOGRAPHY PRiNTiNG PRESS
Flexography is a roll-feed web printing process. Flexographic printing is commonly used to
print high volumes of labels and packaging. Presses can print on a variety of lms, foils,
papers, corrugated board, and paperboard and achieve speeds of 500 to 2000 feet per
minute. Products printed on exo presses include adhesive and shrink-sleeve labels (bottle
wraps); ice cream cartons; folding cartons; shopping bags; plastic bags; pouches; packets;
gift wrap; tissue; envelopes; wallpaper; and disposable plates and cups. The typical exog-
raphic press includes four types of rollers; a fountain roller, an anilox roller, the plate
cylinder, and the impression cylinder. The fountain roller delivers ink from an ink pan to a
steel or ceramic ink-metering “anilox” roller and then to the plate cylinder. The ink is
applied to the substrate as the paper passes between the plate cylinder and a polished
metal impression cylinder. The impression cylinder applies the pressure required to trans-
fer the ink from the plate to the substrate.

CONCLUSiON
In my conclusion what i thought about this project is about identify all
the product printed around me. start from what the name of product,
the substrate has been used, what printing press used to produce the
product and what the segmentation each product. i also learn how to
create the layout using by adobe illustrator then transfer to adobe
indesign to sort by page. i also learned about what di erence between
o set lithography, screen printing, gravure and exography printing.
lastly i want to thank to madam Aisyah because guide us to completed
this project
