YOUR GIFT MATTERS

At the Y we are fortunate to hear some amazing success stories all year long. Many of these stories are a result
of individuals and families having an opportunity to participate in the Y’s quality services regardless of their
ability to pay.

Each year through the support of thousands of community partners, like you, we are able to help with even more
success stories. Your gift to the Y’s Annual Campaign truly matters. It matters to the single mom who needs safe,
nurturing child care so she can continue her pursuit of a college degree. It matters to the teens who find a sense
of belonging at our Teen Centers and it matters to the adults who have lost enough weight that they don’t have to
take medication on a daily basis anymore.

Your gift matters to the Y as we strive to have a meaningful, enduring impact right here in our neighborhoods
across Central Indiana. There’s still time to make your 2014 donation by visiting www.OurCauseIsYou.org or mail
your gift in the enclosed envelope.

For more information about how you can help support the Y, please contact Jim Wood, Chief Development Officer,
at 317-266-9622 or [email protected].

KEEPING KIDS SAFE AFTERSCHOOL

On October 23, hundreds of communities across
the U.S. participated in Lights On Afterschool, an
annual nationwide rally organized by the
Afterschool Alliance to raise awareness about the
importance of afterschool programming.

“This day is a powerful reminder that afterschool
programs keep children safe, inspire them to learn,
and relieve working parents of worries about how
their children spend their afternoons,” said Heather
Perkins, Executive Director, YMCA Youth
Development.

CFO OF THE YEAR

Janet Allaby

Congratulations to Janet Allaby, who has been named CFO
(Chief Financial Officer) of the Year by the Indianapolis
Business Journal (IBJ). Janet started her career with the
YMCA of Greater Indianapolis in 1996 and since that time the
organization has experienced tremendous financial growth.
In fact, out of the 30 largest YMCAs in the United States
the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis has the strongest balance
sheet in the country.

For a nonprofit to grow in today’s world, complex
partnerships are a must. Over the past several years, Janet
has led the Y into several partnerships that have produced
five new state-of-the-art facilities. Some of the facilities that
were opened as a result of these partnerships include the
Fishers, Benjamin Harrison, Hendricks Regional Health,
Witham Family and the Avondale Meadows YMCAs.

Janet’s vast knowledge of finance, professionalism and
can-do attitude makes her the perfect candidate for the CFO
of the Year award, but it’s her down to earth personality and
love for people that makes her so deserving for this award.
She will be formally recognized for this prestigious honor on
December 5 at the JW Marriott in the midst of her family
and peers.

Dear Friends,

Since its founding as a Public Trust in 1887, Citizens Energy
Group and our employees have been dedicated to making
Central Indiana a better place to live, work and play. This year
we are proud to be the title sponsor for the YMCA’s 2nd Annual
Revolution Ball. This event is a great way for people to
rededicate themselves to living a healthier lifestyle and to help
raise awareness about the health disparities in our city.

The Y has the expertise, staff and tools in place to help Tickets and sponsorship information available at
Indianapolis become one of the top 10 healthiest cities in the www.OurCauseIsYou.org
America! All they need is our support. Everyone has a stake in
the health of this community. Less chronic diseases in our city
means that more people are able to work longer, volunteer their
time and save everyone thousands of dollars in healthcare costs
each year. Teaching children how to eat healthy at an early age
will help prevent chronic diseases and give our future leaders an
opportunity to live a long and full life.

Your contributions, combined with many others, will help the Y make a huge impact in numerous lives throughout
Central Indiana. So come out and join us for this Party with a Purpose!

Sincerely,

Carey Lykins, President & CEO
