For Vasundhara
From Tale Weavers
Story: Sharda Vishwanathan Illustrations: Jennifer Wentling
This is the story of Princess Vasundhara who
loved her skateboard.
Skating in her favourite blue robe,
Vasundhara wanted to go around the globe.
The skateboard was her Christmas present that
Fairy goddess had sent.
One day a thief entered her room,
Took her skateboard and rode away on a broom.
Upset and sad Vasundhara started scribbling
on her pad.
Until she realised that she drew a skateboard in
varying hues of purple and blue.
A smile lit up her face,
As Vasundhara decided to build her own
skateboard base.
Picking up her bag of tools,
Vasundhara made her way to the pool.
Placing two popsicle sticks,
The base of the board was ready to be fixed.
And she coloured the board with shades of a
rainbow.
Then came two toothpicks, as axles she had
picked.
Turning the board upside down,
The axles were glued and shining in brown.
Followed by four colourful beads that were
ready to turn into wheels.
And here, the board was ready to roll and take
Vasundhara around the globe.
