HISTORY OF SUNGAI LEMBING
In 1926,a deadliest flood had caused the mining activities to
stop for 3 months. Sungai Lembing was the one of mining
sites.
After the Independence of Tanah Melayu in 1957, the price of
the tin ore had dropped which eventually resulted in the
closure of the mines at Sungai Lembing. This also had caused
people to move out from Sungai Lembing.
In 2001, the government saw the potential of this place as a
tourist spot and revitalised Sungai Lembing as a heritage
tourism attraction, especially with the set up of Sungai
Lembing Museum.
