1.เปลี่ยนกริยานำ say เป็น ask or inquire , said เป็น asked or
inquired said to + บุคคล เป็น asked + บุคคล or inquired of

+ บุคคล
2.ถ้าประโยคคำถามใน Direct Speech นั้นขึ้นต้นคำถามด้วย Verb

to do, Verb to have, Verb to be และกรินาจำพวก
will,shall,can,may,must,etc.

ให้ใช้ if หรือ whether เป็นคำเชื่อมระหว่างประโยคนำกับประโยคคาม
ส่วน Verb to do ให้ตัดทิ้ง

เช่น Direct : He said to me, "Are you leaving for
London today?"

Indirect : He asked me if I was leaving for London

that day.

3.ถ้าประโยคคำถามใน Direct Speech ขึ้นต้นประโยคด้วยคำ
Question Word ไม่ต้องใส่ if หรือ whether

เช่น Direct : I said to John, "How long have you been
there?"

Indirect : I asked John how long he had been there.

4.การเปลี่ยน Tense และคำอื่น ยังใช้หลักเดิม
5.ข้อความของ Indirect Question ต้องเรียงคำอย่างประโยคบอก

เล่า

1.เลือกใช้คำกริยาให้เหมาะสมกับลักษณะของคำสั่งหรือคำขอร้องนั้นๆ
2.จะต้องระบุผู้ถูกสั่งหรือผู้ถูกขอร้องเสมอ ถ้าไม่มีให้สมมติขึ้น

3.สั่งให้ทำอะไร ขอร้องให้ทำอะไร ให้เติม to หน้ากรินาตัวนั้น หรือถ้า
กริยาในคำสั่งนั้นเป็นคำสั่งห้าม ขึ้นต้นด้วย Don't หรือ Do not ให้ใช้

not to นำหน้าแทน
เช่น Direct : Patty said to mike, "Do this for me."

Indirect : Patty told mike to do that for her.

Direct : "Do not move" , the policeman ordered

Indirect : The policeman ordered me not to move
