SUBJECT MICROTEACHING CODE EED21604 SEMESTER FEBRUARY 2023 PROJECT 2 E - PORTFOLIO

SUBJECT MICROTEACHING CODE EED21604 SEMESTER FEBRUARY 2023 PROJECT 2 E - PORTFOLIO

SUBJECT : MICROTEACHING CODE : EED21604 SEMESTER : FEBRUARY 2023 PROJECT 2 : E - PORTFOLIO NAME : MUGESH PRABU A/L NADARAJAN (012020092002) LECTURER : MADAM NIRMALA DEVI A/P RAJOO

Profile Name : MUGESH PRABU A/L NADARAJAN STUDENT ID : 012020092002 COURSE : BTESL A desired student who has lots of passion and love towards English. He had admired his teachers in school but to be a teacher and educate the next generation is a dream. Nevertheless, I have trained myself for the past four years to make myself better in conveying my knowledge to students and keep them engaged to the lesson. Therefore, microteaching class by Madam Nirmala had been an eye opener to me. This is because the subject has allowed me to learn, to educate and to process myself in standing at the position of a student as well as a teacher. Microteaching is a great platform for me to face my internship days. This journey does not stop there as education has no limits. Principle in teaching Teachers are always special for every individual. Teachers are the ones that crafts the students for a better future. I believe that education begins from home but a teacher are the ones that makes us to decide on where will we be for the rest of our lives. A teacher has the magic to identify our potentials and talent without any doubt. Therefore, a teacher should always considerate the student’s need in classroom. It is applicable that the teacher must make amendments to their lessons according to the student’s proficiency. Next, a teacher makes the students feel comfortable in class. The students should not feel trapped whereas they should be happy during the lesson. Lastly, a teacher should not compare the abilities of the student whereas they should encourage them to fly high to achieve their dreams. Its’s the teacher that makes the difference, not the classroom.

Microteaching has been a subject where I discovered myself that I love teaching. A sincere thanks to my lecturer, Madam Nirmala who has embedded lots of information throughout the semester and she has instilled beautiful sharing about educating the students and the life of teaching in schools. This subject has never failed to keep us entertained because every lesson it was essential to us. Although the assignments and projects were slightly heavy due to the last semester pressure, it was all worth of us learning as this is the first step of reaching our goals to become a successful educator. It is saddening that we are at the end of the semester but I feel blessed and satisfied as we are ready to face internship. Beautiful memories were gained and this subject has strengthened our friendships among the group mates. Madam Nirmala had also been a good example to us where she showed us on how to deliver the lecture perfectly without students getting bored in class. I believe that the journey for our internship will surely be miserable without this subject. Although we had online classes at times, the information and knowledge were perfectly delivered without fail. Micro teaching was a subject that I was looking forward to have in this semester and the subject has given me the best memories to be carried along throughout my life. Although we have come to an end for this semester, Madam Nirmala has ingrained the believe that teaching Is a forever journey. She has done her part to us and we are responsible to convey our knowledge to others. “Teachers who love teaching, teach students to love learning”. Overall Reflection about Microteaching Class

18th May 2023 (Thursday) (WEEK 13) Activities conducted Title: Question and Answer Day with MSU students. Reflection As for this day, Madam Nirmala assigned us with to carry out the activity where we have to move around the campus to attempt a survey based on few questions : 1.How do the lecturers conduct classes? 2.What are the teaching materials they use in class 3.Do the lecturers ask questions when they are teaching 4.Do you and your classmates answer those questions? 5.Does your lecturer give feedback on your answers? 6.Does your lecturer shares learning objectives in classes? 7.How does your lecturer summarize the lesson of the day? We had lots of fun during the activity as it was a groupwork. This activity has broaden our knowledge and we managed to make new friends.

Project 1 Reflection This project had required us to create an educational game and also a ESL blog. We decided to come up with snake and ladder for our educational game but we felt it was a little common. Therefore, scabble was our choice. We spent almost three days to finish up the scrabble board as we used cloth as the board and we painted the tiles with water colour. We had to leave it under the fan over night to dry completely. We presented our scrabble in class and Madam Nirmala was very happy with our scrabble board and she encouraged us to use t for our internship. Besides, the scrabble board was intended to be used for different forms according to the lesson. It was fun to create the board as we took turns to finish up one task at a time. Next, ESL blog required us a great time to understand the ways to create a blog as none of us had the experience of crating one. We asked around for help and our classmates gave us few suggestions of websites to create the blog. It was slightly difficult for us to complete the project as there were only four of us in the group and one teammate was from MSU college. However, I took the responsibility to create and post the activities in the blog. My teammates were really supportive as they gave me a hand to complete this blog. We sat together to create activities and we helped out each other to design the materials in Canva. We were the last group to present physically in class before Hari Raya Aidilfitri break and we receive good comments for our beloved lecturer, Madam Nirmala. All the efforts and knowledge gained were very useful and I will surely implement it as a teacher in my future days.

Project 2 Reflection Project two was amazing as it involved about the mock teaching and e-portfolio. Mock teaching was not something new for us as the TESL students because we had few subjects previous which embedded mock teaching in the syllabus. However, mock teaching for this subject was a little new and interesting as we had to record our set induction and activities. Closure was carried out in an online mode through Zoom with Madam Nirmala and our classmates. It was my first experience of bringing food and clothes to class as my teaching aids despite the printed materials. Mock teaching for this subject required us to fulfil the criteria’s given and we learnt a lot through it. We learnt many new ways to conduct classes and various activities were portrayed by our friends for their mock teaching. We also had peer evaluation and it was a great exposure for us to learn on our mistakes as well as to make our next mock teaching a better one. Creating e-portfolio was a little difficult for me as I was not handy with creating flipbook. Anyflip.com was a useful website for me to create a flipbook and it was way easier to handle. E-portfolio was about our journey throughout the class for the entire semester. It was a platform for us to spill our tea about the joy and excitement we had in class. I enjoyed writing my e-portfolio as the memories we made together in class came to my mind. A vivid view of the laughter shared with each other was the best. Thanks to Madam Nirmala for giving us the best memories where we learn and we educate at the same time. I hope and pray that we will have all the knowledge and experience learnt fresh in us to convey them to our students in school. “Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow”.
