1. Introduction:

1.1 Topic

The printing machinery is extremely expensive especially multicolor Common Impression flexo
machine. Due to the rapid changing of the market, environmental issues and customers demands
there is a need for company to extend their current capabilities. So the company Multiflex
Polybags Pvt. Ltd has tried to achieve printing on paper using the machine settings of a flexible
substrate.

5s is a system to reduce waste and optimize productivity through maintaining an orderly
workplace and using visual cues to achieve more consistent operational results. The term 5s
refers to five steps that are Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize , Sustain ;also sometimes called
as 5 pillars of visual workplace.

2. Need for the project:
Due to the increasing concern of effects of plastic on Environment, many brands and

shops stopped using plastic as their carry bags and also non plastic woven bags or substrate
without lamination has become very important to trade in the European market due to which the
company's is forced to try out new products on different eco-friendly substrates with the existing
infrastructure.

5S: Current plant layout creates a lot of hindrance in movement of reels from storage to press
and from press to post-press. This 5S will eradicate non value motion from the process. The
expected result and benefit will be an efficient assembly line, ordered layout, labelled storage ,
optimized use of space, reduction in unwanted movement and time.

3. Objective:

To successfully print on paper using CI flexo by keeping the variables as same as possible and
also to increase the efficiency by using 5s quality system.

4. Methodology:

The project is carried out in into following parts
 PAPER PRINTING:
 Analyze the production workflow
 Take a dummy trial on paper using flexo plates and solvent based ink.
 Profiling of the machine with paper stock
 Proofing
 Printing with 4 different plate settings(LPI and density)(Fingerprint)
 Selection of the bet setting
 Plate making
 Printing

 5S:
 Create Awareness
 Measuring the current timing and wastage in the process
 Sort
 Set in order
 Shine
 Standardize
 Sustain
 Measuring the timing and wastage
 Comparison

5. Project Schedule:

 January 2018
