What is Passive Voice? Passive Voice is a sentence that emphasizes the object of the sentence instead of the subject. We use passive voice when the subject of a sentence receives the action of the verb rather than performing the action. Bread is baked in the oven. Pork is sprinkled with sea salt.


Active to Passive Voice Bread is sliced with a knife by mom. When we change active voice sentences into passive voice sentences, we have to put verb to be and past participle (v.3). As present simple tense, you have to do the following rules if you want to change active voice sentences into passive voice sentences. Mom slices bread with a knife.
