Oh year 6! This could only happen to you! As a group you have
been through so many ups and downs together but that has just
made you into the strong, resilient and amazing class that you
are. It has been a privilege to watch you grow and mature over
the years and your next schools are very lucky to have you!
Good luck!! From Mrs Lovely
Mrs Smith
Year 6 - I cannot believe you are leaving us! You are such a
special class and will always hold a very special place in my
heart! I will always remember all the really fun times we had
together - learning all about Harry Potter, making wands and
playing Quidditch and the tournament we hosted; our trip to
North Somerset Countryside day; making our stone age cave with
cave paintings; building Stone Age animals; learning about the
Victorians; Dance Their Socks Off and then the Dance Festival
when you were in Year 5 and were the most AMAZING
performers! You really are all so incredibly fun, kind, caring,
supportive and patient children and have always done us proud
in everything you have done. You have always worked incredibly
hard and have wanted to achieve your best and you have
represented the school at so many events and on trips brilliantly.
You have such bright futures ahead of you - go and show the
secondary schools what absolute superstars each and every one
of you are! We will all miss you very much, Love Mrs Smith x
Mrs Willoughby
When I think about this class, I smile (and usually chuckle). You
have always been 'that class' on my radar - I was always crossing
my fingers to have you but I never did. I have fond memories of
you all, whether it be a comment in the corridor, a laugh shared
on the playground or a cheeky grin across the classroom - when
you knew you should have been working.
I'm so excited for you all - I wish you all the absolute best of luck in
your new schools. Just remember, you can do it - take a deep
breath and aim high. You will be amazing!
Mrs McCollum
I have so many wonderful memories of my time spent with your
class since Reception, as a whole and individually. I know I am not
the only one who is proud of the young men and ladies that you
are becoming. I really am going to miss all of you, but I'm excited
for all the opportunities you will have in Secondary School.
Please come back and see us every now and then.
Mr Holdaway
Talking about Memories - my year singing with Year 6 seemed
to stop at Christmas - a real sadness for me!! We'd achieved
some great performances together all the way from The Frog
Song in Y4 all the way through the wonderfully impromptu Easter
Play at Hayden's Care Home as well as in School in Year 5, to last
Christmas's brilliant Carol concert with all the solos, duets, trios, so
brilliantly performed - and, of course Young Voices. You have all
been an amazingly talented Y6 and it is such a huge sadness that
our usual musical "goodies" like the full scale production this term
have been unable to happen!! I can only dream on the certainty
that it would have been an utterly memorable performance!
I have missed all that fun - a mega-regret -
And that I'm too old to do what I normally do!!
Anyway - I wish every single one of you God's blessing and good
fortune for September in your new schools - and with the new
normal!! A very strange time for all of us - but I do hope to see
you in better circumstances when all this has passed.
With fondest wishes to you all,
Eric Holdaway
Mrs Cowton
Well hello and goodbye Year 6.
I have seen most of you grow from small chatty Year 1 pupils to
the lovely friendly and in your own ways talented Year 6.
I have been privileged to watch your performances and sang
with you through Dance Your Socks Off and laughed as you all
pulled together as a team on School Camp.
I wish you all the best in your future learning and hope you will all
spare a thought for us at Hutton.
Good luck
Mrs Cowton. Xx
Miss Anderton
You were an amazing Year 5 Class and I knew you would do well
in Year 6. You were fun to teach, always eager and ready to
learn, dedicated to your learning and with a very positive growth
mindset and super ideas. Your enthusiasm for all our projects
made working with you purposeful and rewarding for all. You
thoughtfully completed The Archbishop of York Young Leaders
Award, raising money for the Rhinos and collecting for the
Foodbank, making positive changes and showing you could be
the change you wanted to see. The Easter Play was superb with
fantastic singing and acting. You asked brilliant questions of our
politicians and our trip to Parliament and The British Museum
helped us understand more about how we can make positive
changes in the world. I will miss seeing you around school but I
know each one of you will go out into the world and take with
you the warmth, compassion and positivity you have shown and
developed during your time at Hutton. I wish you all the best in
your new school and in your future lives, you will be amazing!
Miss Anderton.
Mrs Whiting
Class 6, A class of many talents!
During your time at Hutton it has been an absolute privilege to
watch you grow into wonderful young people with an
abundance of amazing talent! I am sure one day we will be
watching some of you perform on stage at the theatre, singing as
part of a choir, playing sports in huge stadiums, winning gold
medals at the Olympics, presenting art work in a museum, the list
is endless! Aim high, keep working hard and never lose sight of
your dreams.
Good luck on your new and exciting adventure.
Mrs Whiting
Mrs Amos
I can remember you starting in your reception class with
Mr Clapson- and all the outdoor learning you did with him. I have
loved seeing how you have all developed - and grown in
confidence over the past seven years.
The one thing I will remember most about this class is your
fantastic singing- I can't remember another class with so many
talented singers - and I loved our choir tours!
I wish you all the very best for your future - and I hope you will
keep in touch and let us know about your future successes!
Goodbye from Mrs Scherer
“Buenos Aries” Year 6,
I can’t believe it is time to say goodbye, I know some of you at
home feel like we already have, but you are still very much part of
our class. You have been such a very, very special class to me –
you are all absolutely amazing in so many different ways. There
have been so many highlights to my year with you…of course
Young Voices has to be one of them. Not just the actual concert
but all the rehearsals in class when you couldn’t contain
yourselves and turned into rock stars with your air guitars and
head banging; when we struggled so hard to do all the different
parts of Kusi Mama and when we tried to hit those pesky high
notes.
I don’t think a day has gone by when we have not laughed
together – I never understood why our spelling lessons were such
fun but they always ended in laughter – but don’t worry parents
(and Mrs Amos), they were learning at the same time! You have
all thrown yourselves into lessons and have mastered long division,
algebra, passive/active voice, subjunctive mood to name just a
few. Your learning curve went from zero to hero in no time at all
and your willingness to learn has been amazing – what more
could a teacher ask for? It is such as shame that you didn’t get to
show how much you have learnt in your SATs tests, but just know
that you would all have achieved your very best because you
had the right attitude.
I hope that you have learnt many life lessons from our ‘Black
history’ topics of Empire, slavery, Windrush and the Civil Rights
Movement – always remember what we have learned, how these
events have shaped the world we live in today and what we can
do to make this world a better place for everyone. I hope this has
been a parting gift to you that we all have a better
understanding of ours and others places in the society we all
share.
We have missed out on a lot of the extras that are special to Year
6. How disappointed I was that we couldn’t do Peter Pan – with a
class like ours and the amazing talent you have, the show would
have just blown everyone away. We also missed out on camping
at Hooke Court (although the 4am dawn chorus from the birds I
certainly didn’t miss). However, we did manage to have a
freebie residential at Mendip in September where you skied,
canoed, kayaked and danced and we did also share a rather
special time together at Hooke Court in year 4, so I do hope these
will be wonderful memories that you will take away with you.
I feel so privileged to have taught you not only in Year 6 but also
in Year 4 – a double whammy of the fun you brought to my life. I
will always smile when I think of you all and hold a very special
place in my heart. If you see me around, please come and say
hello, don’t be shy, it’s only Mrs Scherer! I shall miss bringing home
to my family stories of your antics and jokes but it is time to share
your loveliness with your new teachers. On that note, go ahead
into secondary school with pride of who you are and of what you
are about to become. Never lose sight of who you are in the
quest to try and fit in; your characters are what make you YOU
and that is what makes you special. Make the most of every
opportunity that secondary school brings you: make new friends;
learn new skills; join clubs and work hard. Be the best you that you
can be!
I’ll leave you now with a few words that I would like you to
remember from one of our favourite books we read together in
Year 4: Wonder.
“It’s not enough to be friendly. You have to be a friend.”
“Be kinder than is necessary.”
“If you have a choice between being right and being kind,
always choose kind.”
Lots of love,
Mrs Scherer xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx – one for each of you!
GOODBYE AND
GOOD LUCK
