Main House

The Old Parsonage is an attached Grade II * listed property
situated at the very heart of the village. The property has been a
fabulous family home since 1969 and offers new owners the
opportunity to become the custodians of this fine property.

Originally, a detached Rectory, the property has been altered
significantly over time and The Old Parsonage is now an attached
potentially six bedroom property with its own driveway and
separate annexe, in grounds of approximately an acre.

Of stone construction under a stone tiled roof, the property has a
plethora of period features. Of particular note, and believed to
date back to the 14th century, is the front porch, with its moulded
pointed arch above a planked door, one gets a real sense of what
lies within. The hallway is at the centre of the house, with original
stone features and wood block flooring, panelled walls and doors
leading to the three reception rooms, the old scullery, now a
workshop, and the kitchen. The reception rooms comprise of
sitting room, dining room and the drawing room. The drawing
room, with dual aspect to the front and side garden, has full
fielded panelling and a corner fireplace with stone surround, is a
comfortable and light room. Both the drawing room and dining
room have open fires and mullion windows with pleasant outlooks
to the gardens. The kitchen breakfast room is to the rear of the
property, with doors leading to the courtyard which in turn leads
to the garden.

An oak staircase rises from the hall to the first floor
accommodation. Currently there are four bedrooms and 3
bathrooms which includes one ensuite. A short staircase leads to a
small room, used as a library by the present owner. A further
staircase leads to the two attic rooms.

Grounds & Garden

The mature, well maintained garden wraps around the three sides
of the house. Many fine yew trees dominate the garden and revert
to a high hedge along the boundary, providing privacy within this
central village location. Once a swimming pool, there is now a
water garden and The Granary with its thatched roof has been an
apple store over time.

Within the grounds there is a separate one bedroom annexe with
a sitting room, kitchen and cloakroom. The annexe does require
work to improve the accommodation.

To the side of the drive, as you come in from the lane, there is a
detached garage.
