. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . DAILY REFLECTION TASK / LESSON OF THE DAY: For the last lecture of the week, Madam Nirmala taught us about the Usage of Whiteboards in the classroom. Whiteboard is a fundamental teaching aid that is already provided by schools. We have been told that although a teacher can implement many other teaching aids or materials which even include the 21st Century learning materials such as LCD, Computers, and many more, it is vital to implement whiteboards in a teaching and learning process. Besides that, after the lecture, we proceeded to our task. Beforehand of the class, Madam Nirmala asked us to Mahjong Papers and markers. Madam Nirmala wanted us to be exposed to the whiteboards in the form of Mahjong Papers. She asked us to showcase our beautiful handwriting on the Mahjong Paper with a few sentences. This task is done to practice our handwriting skills on the Mahjong Paper to make sure that with or without the technological teaching aids, we are able to portray a good handwriting for pupils to understand and implement in their learning. To complete this task, I coupled up with my classmate Tanushri. We took our time to write the sentences on the wall at the Lecture Theatre. It was surely hard to write, as the wall did not have a flat surface. Overall, it was a very fun task. We managed to evaluate ourselves on how we could enhance our writing skills even better. Apart from that, we also understood the importance of whiteboards, this is because, as teachers, we should always not rely on technology as it can be a mess and to utilize the time we have, whiteboards are the best to conduct a lesson. Date: 1 August 2023 (Tuesday) Class Time: 11.00 - 1.00 pm Usage of Whiteboards in a classroom Task (Writing a few sentences on a Mahjong Paper) Lecturer: Madam Nirmala Devi A/P Rajo @ Rajoo Venue: LT A07/2 47

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . DAILY REFLECTION TASK / LESSON OF THE DAY: This is the final presentation for our given assignment's 5th lesson plan. As usual, a week before the presentation, my group members and I discussed on what type of literature we can do for our lesson plan via the Zoom platform. We had 2 options of literature to apply in our lesson plan. It was either 'A Poison Tree' or 'What Has Happened To Lulu?'. After a much-awaited discussion, we decided to pursue our 5th lesson plan based on the poem 'What Has Happened To Lulu?'. We wanted to specifically highlight on the literary devices and came up with 5 examples of literary devices implemented in the poem. After we segregated our tasks on who would be doing the lesson plan and the teaching aids, I decided to pair up with Thenmozhi to complete the lesson plan, whereas, the rest of them worked on the teaching aids. Thenmozhi and I together completed the lesson plan on the weekend. And as the leader of the group, I conferred with the rest of my group members to check up on the progress of the teaching aids. I made sure that all the materials needed for the presentation were completed a day before as I needed some time to prepare for my mock teaching. The day of the presentation came. On behalf of the entire group, Thenmozhi presented with full enthusiasm on the 5th lesson plan. After she was done presenting, Miss Siti commended that my group had done an excellent job in improving and doing better lesson plans. She also gave feedback saying that the flow of the lesson plan based on the 3 stages was written nicely and was connected with one another. She also applauded on the creative teaching material we prepared as well as commented that the lesson plans, my group managed to complete can be taken as an exemplary for our practicum. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . DAILY REFLECTION TASK / LESSON OF THE DAY: The day of the Mock Teaching arrived. I was really tense for this day because I only had a week to prepare for Mock teaching amidst other subject's presentations and submissions. I was making preparations until the day of the mock teaching. There were many occurrences where I had to amend my lesson plan many times to make sure it was perfect and ready to go. Apart from that, I also conferred with my friends and the lecturer to make sure that the activities and the topic chosen for my mock teaching and the lesson plan is reliable and valid. In terms of making the teaching aids, I only had 1 day to prepare the materials which was a day before my mock teaching. This is because I was caught up with other subject's report completion as well as this subject's test which had to be submitted and done earlier. I believe that within the time frame I had, the teaching aids I made for my mock teaching were interesting as it is how I am going to be applying when I go for my practicum. My turn to present my mock teaching was listed as the sixth and the last person to present for the day. I remember my palms getting sweaty and my joints getting toughened as soon as my turn approached. All my 5 other classmates who presented before me did an amazing job considering we are the first batch of students to do our mock teaching among the others. Date: 3 August 2023 (Thursday) Class Time: 11.00 - 1.00 pm Venue: M0803 Lecturer: Miss Siti Hajar Binti Mohamed Naser My Mock Teaching 52

CONTINUATION.... Finally, it was time for me to present, and I made sure that I gave my 100% in teaching effectively. It was told by our lecturer that they would grade us based on how we teach during the mock teaching. Therefore, I ensured that the students were not bored and were very much enthusiastic about the lesson. I took exactly 15 minutes to do my mock teaching. I also included a scoreboard as a teaching aid to sort of bring a positive reinforcement into class to make sure the students were focused and answered the questions correctly. As soon as I was done with the mock teaching, everyone applauded me for doing a great job. Miss Siti called me aside to give comments and feedback on both my lesson plan and the way I showed myself as a teacher. She commended me for an excellent lesson plan alongside interesting teaching aids. She also said that my voice is perfect and there was a good correlation between adjusting my voice in the given situations. Besides that, the only thing she commented, is that the activities may be too easy to be doable for Form 2 students. And when I informed that it was only a 30-minute lesson plan with activity 1 being a listening skill activity and activity 2 being a speaking skill activity, she mentioned that the activities were really good and that maybe the challenge level for the students can be raised a bit. But overall, Miss Siti really liked the way I presented my mock teaching and the lesson plan to which she said I did a very good job. Alongside that, there were many instances where my other classmates came up to me and said that I had done a very good job and they really liked the way I teach. They even complimented me by saying that I looked like a real teacher with the attire and the name badge. Based on the way I did my lesson plan and mock teaching, some of them even asked my opinion on what can be done to improve and enhance their lesson plan. In the end, by doing my mock teaching, there are several things that I learned. I believe that I possess the skills of being a fun and friendly teacher. And the comments and feedback I received both physically and via a Google form, mentioned that I did a great job where everything was perfect with good teaching materials, and the way I portrayed myself as a teacher was awesome. Based on these comments, it definitely boosted my confidence in doing much more than that. A few days before the mock teaching, I felt tense about how my classmates would judge me. But after completing and receiving very good remarks for mock teaching, I gained self-confidence and am really looking forward to how it would shape me into being a good and responsible teacher. 53

WEEK 6 56

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . DAILY REFLECTION TASK / LESSON OF THE DAY: Date: 7 August 2023 (Monday) Peer Evaluation - Classmates Presentation for Mock Teaching Class Time: 4.00 - 6.00 pm Venue: M0601 Lecturer: Madam Nirmala Devi A/P Rajo @ Rajoo It is the 2nd day of the mock teaching presentation. 6 of my classmates got prepared for the mock teaching. The 6 presenters who presented their mock teaching for the day were Ting Shan Ming, Muhammad Danish, Muhammad Syazwan, Sabihismen Kumar, Tanusha Subramaniam, and Shamini C. Kumar. The first person to start the mock teaching was Ting Shan Ming. He did an amazing job of portraying himself as a mosquito to introduce the topic to the students. He dressed up with handmade wings and a mask to replicate a mosquito. From here, the students identified him as who might be and then proceeded to teach the lesson. Ting showed himself as a teacher by engaging and interacting with students. His tone was soft but at the same time loud when giving instructions. The same thing happened with Muhammad Danish. He brought in a suitcase of electronic devices for the students to identify the topic. Overall, his teaching was also interactive the same with Ting. Then, when Muhammad Syazwan and Sabihismen took turns in presenting their mock teaching, it can be clearly seen that they were nervous, and at times they stammered to continue with the lesson. The activities were interesting but maybe a bit of enhancing their voice in class could have been better. Later, after them, Tanusha and Shamini continued with their mock teaching. From what I observed, both of them did a good job of showcasing a representation of good attire. Tanusha dressed herself as a shop saleswoman but we had a bit of a confusion as to whether she was a cook or a chef to which she later corrected that the topic is about shopping. Shamini was beautiful considering the fact that she wore a saree to represent Malaysian culture. In summary, both of them as well as the others did a good job in completing their mock teaching. 57

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . DAILY REFLECTION TASK / LESSON OF THE DAY: Date: 8 August 2023 (Tuesday) Class Time: 11.00 - 1.00 pm Lecturer: Madam Nirmala Devi A/P Rajo @ Rajoo Venue: LT A07/2 Today, the 3rd batch of students presented for the Mock teaching. They were none other than my beloved friends and close classmates. The presenters were Geethaa Rajendran, Thivyah Rajah, Thenmozhi Raju, Thaarani, Kannaghai Mogan, and Dickson. I was anticipating for this day to see how my friends would present themselves if they were actual teachers. First up, Geethaa started her mock teaching. She was nervous as she was the first person to start the mock teaching for the day. Her activities were nice as she talked about online shopping and window shopping. Many of my classmates participated in the discussion as to what type of shopping they liked. Then, Thivyah presented her mock teaching. Thivyah's activities were fun and engaging where her topic involved 5 different emotions. The way she presented herself was nice as she portrayed a humorous role when teaching. Ultimately, her lesson was nice and engaging except for the part where she did not have time to conclude her lesson. Then, Thenmozhi and Thaarani took turns in presenting the mock teaching. Overall, it was a good attempt at their teaching but they can improve their teaching a little bit by introducing fun activities to make sure that the class is engaged and interested. Their voices were soft and underpowering but apart from that both of them had a good sense of vocabulary and word intonation. Last up was Kannaghai and Dickson's turn. Kannaghai showcased a beautiful and interesting teaching aid consisting of animal themed board based on the movie Jumanji. She conducted the activities nicely and repeated as to what the lesson is about till the end. Whereas, Dickson was a bit skittish when presenting as he at times stumbled on what he was teaching. The audio that he played might have been too fast which could be the only weakness of the lesson. But apart from that, I would like to say that it was a day full of fun and engaging lesson. I learned a lot from some of them on how to create fun teaching aids as well as present myself as an approachable and fun teacher. 59 Peer Evaluation - Classmates Presentation for Mock Teaching

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . DAILY REFLECTION TASK / LESSON OF THE DAY: Date: 9 August 2023 (Wednesday) Venue: M0803 Lecturer: Miss Siti Hajar Binti Mohamed Naser Class Time: 9.00 - 11.00 am As usual, 6 presenters presented their mock teaching. They were Tanushri Sahathevan, Sri Aishwarya Laksmi, Asshalini, Aliya Salsabila, Darsinidewi, and Kareenajit Kaur. The 1st presenter was Tanushri. I really admired the way she presented. She seemed nervous when presenting but her word articulation was nicely portrayed. She had interesting teaching aids such as the food pyramid and a fun activity containing envelopes. She did a good job in creating these teaching aids, as I know for sure, it definitely would have taken some time to create them. The only comment she got from the lecturer is that she has to make sure that the categories of the food pyramid are reliable and valid to make sure the pupils do not get confused. After that, Sri Aishwarya and Asshalini consecutively took turns in doing their mock teaching. Altogether their topics and activities were nice but they could have made it at least interactive when conducting the activities. The teaching aids could have been of varieties to make the class seem engaging apart from the usage of worksheets. But, it was a good try of them in completing their mock teaching. Then, Darsini and Kareena took turns in presenting their mock teaching. Darsini's activities were nice but she could have enhanced her voice projection as well as, her delivery of dialogues when presenting the lesson. She was nervous till to the fact that she did not hear properly as to what the students were trying to say. And later when Kareena's turn came, she was really enthusiastic and excited for her class. She conducted a lesson about Chinese culture which gave a piece of knowledge. Her selection of the topic was really good. She was really interactive with the whole class and often took suggestions from the students. Afterward, it was Aliya Salsabila's turn to present her mock teaching. She did an awesome job in keeping the class fun and interactive. She possessed a certain type of humor and comical aspect when presenting. There is a suggestion, that she could have done some different teaching aids apart from the slides to give the students a different outlook on the topic. But apart from that, her sense of humor was the highlight which made the class engaging. Overall, all the presenters presented their mock teaching in a really good manner. There may be certain flaws here in there but ultimately there are a few things I learned about how to keep the class pleasant, engaging, and fun. 61 Peer Evaluation - Classmates Presentation for Mock Teaching

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . DAILY REFLECTION TASK / LESSON OF THE DAY: Date: 10 August 2023 (Thursday) Class Time: 11.00 - 1.00 pm Venue: M0803 Lecturer: Miss Siti Hajar Binti Mohamed Naser For the last mock teaching presentation of the week, 6 of my classmates; Navina Manickam, Lim Hui Shu, Aina Azman, Alyssa Sophia, Nur Ilya Natasha, and Puteri Hanis Syamimi demonstrated their mock teaching. Navina was the first one to start the presentation. Navina's way of portrayal towards her lesson and her teaching was the highlight of the day. She calmly explained the lesson and showed us how a teacher should be. She addressed students' questions properly and made sure everyone was involved in the activities. She approached the students in a pleasant and fun way which is what I like the most. Miss Siti complimented her for the way she carried out her lesson. After that, Lim Hui Shu and Aina Azman consecutively carried out their mock teaching. Both carried out interesting activities. Lim made sure all the groups equally participated in the activities but maybe her voice projection could do a little bit better because, at times, she had a high pitch when explaining the activities. Whereas for Aina, her activities were fun which was something similar to the 'Broken Radio' game. At the start, she was going well. But in the midway of the activity, it seemed that she got carried away with excitement which made the classroom management a little improper. But all in all, she tried her best to bring a fun activity/game to the class. Then, Alyssa presented her mock teaching. She brought many materials related to her topic 'Shopping Therapy'. Her teaching aids and the way she pleasantly explained the topic were well presented. The one weakness of her lesson was, the board she created for the activity was too small to be seen. For the activity we did, the answers were from the teaching board she prepared. But in the end, most of us in the back did not get to answer properly since we could not see clearly to identify the answers. Later, Ilya Natasha and Puteri Hanis presented their mock teaching. They did their level best when presenting the lesson. The one flaw that they both showed was extreme nervousness while talking and explaining the lesson. Because of their nervousness while explaining, we did not get to fully understand what the topic or the activity was about. At the same time, their voices were too soft which made most of us re-ask what the instructions of the activities were. On the whole, there are some who did extremely well and some who have to correct themselves a bit. All in all, as students, we are bound to make mistakes over and over, and through this mock teaching, we get to learn how to correct and rectify ourselves as future teachers. This mock teaching truly is a learning period where making mistakes help us in developing ourselves to be better teachers. 63 Peer Evaluation - Classmates Presentation for Mock Teaching

WEEK 7 65

DAILY REFLECTION Date: 14 August 2023 (Monday) Class Time: 4.00 - 6.00 pm Lecturer: Madam Nirmala Devi A/P Rajo @ Rajoo Venue: M0601 CUTI PILIHAN RAYA NEGERI 66

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . DAILY REFLECTION TASK / LESSON OF THE DAY: Date: 15 August 2023 (Tuesday) Class Time: 11.00 - 1.00 pm Today, there were 7 presenters who presented their mock teaching. They were Parimalathevi, Shahmila, Muhammad Naim, Siti Safariyah, Nabil Iman, Siti Nur Mariana, and Sharon Laie. Based on their mock teaching, there were a few parts where they did a good job and there were instances where I believe it is a lesson for us to correct it as well. As for Parimalathevi, her grammar focus was on Abbreviations and her topic was Family Ties. She did a good job showcasing Abbreviations' grammar components through examples of questions. However, it felt as if she was very nervous to conduct the lesson where her lesson was not interactive enough and she did not engage much with the students. Her voice projection was not loud or clear enough, but, overall, her selection of topic was knowledgeable. Then, Shahmila presented her mock teaching. She projected her lesson with a clear and loud voice, which made us students understand the lesson very well. She focused on the literature of One is One and All Alone which is one of the new literary texts I have newly learned today. In general, she was able to keep the class engaged and interactive till the end of her mock teaching. Then, consecutively, Muhammad Naim and Siti Safariyah took turns presenting their mock teaching. Both their lesson was interesting and engaging. The one common thing they had was being excited and thrilled to conduct the class. It was a fun and humorous lesson this entire day. Whereas, with Nabil, his topic was interesting. However, his mode of speech was unprofessional at times. His seriousness towards the lesson was a bit of a lack today. He somewhat used dual English when teaching to the class. Later, Sharon and Siti Nur Mariana took turns presenting. Both of them had the same language skill and the same literary texts which was about the poem 'My Hero'. Both of them had similar ideas of activities for their language skill. The poem that they taught about was something new that I learned today. We did the activities in a worksheet provided by them. In summary, there were both strengths and weaknesses presented during today's mock teaching. The one thing that can be improved in the future, is to include varieties of teaching aids apart from the usual worksheets. Other teaching aids such as charts or audio-visual aid may bring pupils' attention and focus to the class making them glued to the lesson. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . DAILY REFLECTION TASK / LESSON OF THE DAY: Date: 16 August 2023 (Wednesday) Venue: M0803 Lecturer: Miss Siti Hajar Binti Mohamed Naser For the 2nd last class of the semester, 6 of my classmates presented for their mock teaching. They are Kiranjit Kaur, Elisshiba, So Pei Ying, Nur Huwaina, Menaka, and Tinashinik. Elisshiba presented first and her choice of teaching aids were different and creative. I liked the way she interacted with the students as the class was constantly moving and energetic. Whereas, for So Pei Ying, she taught the topic of Mother Nature by bringing in interesting facts about dolphins. I definitely benefitted from her lesson as I learned the facts and reality of dolphins being caged in pools. Besides that, Kiranjit presented next. She had the language skill of listening to which it was an interactive lesson among the students. I really liked the way she presented when correcting students' mistakes. She addressed it correctly. She also showed her humorous side when teaching to class which made the class excited to learn. Then, Menaka presented the literary text of 'Cheat'. She taught about the plot analysis of the short story. The way she pursued the students was nice and she projected her voice loud and clear to make sure students understand the lesson. Later, Nur Huwaina and Tinashinik consecutively took turns in presenting their mock teaching. Huwaina did a listening activity where she gave us a worksheet to fill in around 5 blanks by listening to the song played. The activity was interesting. However, it could have been carried out differently. Firstly, I did not understand the context of the song being played. Secondly, there was no interaction when the song was being played. All in all, although it is a good activity, the initiation of the activity could have been executed differently. Lastly, Tinashinik presented her mock teaching. The topic was about the grammar skill of prepositions. The activity she carried out was really interesting where as a team, we have to place the football players on a given Mahjong Paper based on the listening audio we hear. It was really a fun activity where we collaborated with each team member to do the activity. She even projected her voice clearly as well as in a funny manner. In the end, based on my classmates' presentations, most of them did an amazing job of showcasing varieties of teaching aids. The class was really interactive because of the teachers' humorous sense. This is definitely a learning for me where I get to learn from them and build myself as a fun and humorous teacher when I teach my future pupils. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . DAILY REFLECTION TASK / LESSON OF THE DAY: Date: 17 August 2023 (Thursday) Class Time: 11.00 - 1.00 pm Venue: M0803 Lecturer: Miss Siti Hajar Binti Mohamed Naser On the last day of the semester, there were only 4 presenters who presented for today's mock teaching. They were Daphne Chan, Vanitha Rengasamy, Nur Azeem Razak, and Sharmila Lim. Daphne was the 1st presenter to get started with the mock teaching. Her chosen topic was 'Ready, Steady, Go'. Her choice of activities was nice and interesting. However, when she was demonstrating, most of us did not get to fully understand because of her soft voice. She could have made the class more engaging and interactive by asking probing questions to the students. Afterward, when Vanitha presented, the way she addressed the students was really nice. She made sure to check the students understanding from time to time. She also showed some interesting teaching aids. The activity consisting of grammar skill Idioms was easier to understand when she repeatedly explained each one of them. Overall, she did a good job in completing her mock teaching. Thirdly, Azeem Razak presented his mock teaching. He did a good job in completing his mock teaching but to be really honest, there are some things that could have been done better. His chosen topic was 'Food, Food, Food'. He also implemented a variety of grammar components such as Synonyms, Antonyms, Past Simple, Past Continuous, and many more. As students, we could not understand his lesson because all the grammar elements were combined together in 1 lesson. We also could not comprehend the activity he performed where, for instance, the Kahoot game he initiated had some errors and it did not comply with what he taught. There was a lack of engagement with the students as well as his voice projection was not clear and loud enough. When he ended up asking the students to form sentences using the grammar aspects, most of us failed to answer, simply because we could not acknowledge what is being taught. Lastly, Sharmila Lim presented her mock teaching. Her voice projection was really good and she managed to engage with the students. She also brought in some interesting teaching aids like Volcano to class. By doing so, it gives an exposure for students to clearly understand the topic. To summarize today's mock teaching, there are some presenters who had a few weaknesses when teaching a lesson. As a peer evaluating them, there is so much they can improve before their practicum. As a future teacher, I do take a learning from them on how and what to not implement when teaching the students. With more practice, I believe all this can be improved and enhanced better. 71 Peer Evaluation - Classmates Presentation for Mock Teaching

PICTURE EVIDENCES 72

In the end, this subject has given me a huge learning. There are some important aspects that I have learned on how to enhance and improve myself as a better teacher from my own mock teaching as well as my peers' mock teaching. I am really grateful to my lecturers for giving such impactful knowledge on the do's and don'ts of providing education to pupils. Apart from that, from all the knowledge and feedback the lecturers gave, I now realize that with the activities of a lesson being conducted, a teacher has to make sure that the pupils get a learning from it as it will aid them in their real-life. All in all, this subject is really depthful in terms of sharpening us to develop specific teaching skills through our daily reflections, as well as, boosting our selfconfidence in conducting lessons in various situations.
