Did you know colorectal cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer-related death in the U.S.?Approximately 1 in 20 persons will be diagnosed this year. Those with a first-degree relative who has had colorectal cancer are at an increased risk for developing it. Aside from a family history or specific genetic profile, other risk factors include diets high in red meats or processed foods, smoking, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, and heavy alcohol consumption. The American Cancer Society now recommends colorectal cancer screening starting at age 45 for those at average risk. If you think it is time for you to get screened, be sure to speak with your healthcare provider.

ONLINE DUES CURRENT FY 22-23 MEMBERS OWE $62.50 Financial News F I N A N C E T E A M As you may recall, Grand Chapter elected to move the annual accounting period to a calendar year fiscal reporting beginning January 2024. Grand Chapter has also elected to extend the 2022-2023 membership period by six months to accommodate the change in the fiscal year, which will occur in 2023. As noted below, adjustments have been made to the dues payable periods and membership coverage to help us successfully transition to the new format. Payment of membership dues and fees at this time will make you financial for the extended 2022-2023 fiscal year and eligible to participate in all activities from July 1, 2023, through December 31, 2023. Further details regarding this transition are posted in the Member Portal (Grand Chapter --> Financials - -> Resources) and will be updated as we move through this implementation. MEMBER PAYMENT TO CHAPTER Chapter dues for the extended 2022-2023 fiscal year are payable from January 1, 2023, through March 31, 2023, if you are a member of a local chapter. For those currently financial for 2022-2023, no further late or reinstatement fees will be applied, as the national dues have been paid. However, each member must pay six months of chapter dues by July 1, 2023, to keep financial status for the extended period of July 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023. You will go into nonfinancial status if you do not pay the associated chapter dues. Fiscal Year Change Please click on Knowing Your Dues to review the presentation provided on January 5, 2023. Dues are payable in-person at chapter meetings, via mail, and by clicking the button below.

Chaplain's Corner A N I N S P I R A T I O N A L W O R D March 2023 The Perfect Gift Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights. ~James 1:17 Sisters are the perfect gift. It is a gift from above. Often when we think of gifts, we think of purchasing the perfect gift for a loved one and sometimes for ourselves. We hope to surprise them and give them or ourselves joy. There are times when we are excited about the gift we purchased, the receiver may not have the same sentiment. There’s the possibility of the person having a look of disappointment because of the expectation of wanting something different. Our feelings are hurt. How could something we put so much time in selecting be rejected by the people we love? Sometimes sisterhood can feel the same way. We give our best and find our best being rejected or unwanted. How can this be? The good that God intends for us to exhibit involves our character, our intimacy with the Creator, and our usefulness to others. It is important as sisters that we experience the joy of receiving the many gifts that each sister brings to our sisterhood. During this month, let’s embrace the many talents of our sisters. Let’s acknowledge each gift that the Creator has blessed us with. We must always be mindful that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and my sisters, you are a good and perfect gift. Peace and blessings! Nanci Bishop-Gibson C H A P L A I N N A N C I B I S H I P - G I B S O N
