BROADBAND SPEED:
PERFORMANCE vs. PROMISE
The Federal Communication Commission's Measuring Broadband America program was developed
to improve the availability of information for consumers about their broadband service. Its second
annual study, released in July, independently tested the broadband speeds of the nation's most
prominent Internet service providers and compared them to advertised speeds.

86% LIVING UP TO PROMISED SPEEDS
The FCC's new report confirmed that cable broadband service
outperforms DSL in advertised speeds tests. Mediacom not only
surpassed its advertised speeds, but outperformed DSL's top
sustained speeds by over 15%.
GO FAST OR GET LEFT BEHIND
The FCC refers to the results as "a success story" that signals on-target progress toward achieving
the National Broadband Plan's goal of providing 100 million homes access to affordable, 50 Mbps
service by 2015. Thereafter, the NBP seeks to double this rate to 100 Mbps by 2020.
As the need for faster, more reliable internet access becomes greater, cable ISPs are meeting the
challenge and fulfilling their promises.
More and more Americans are turning to streaming video, using wireless internet
devices and sharing their internet connections with multiple users, usually family
members. This takes the greater, more reliable and more affordable broadband
speeds that Mediacom delivers today.
