DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
1. Meaning
A descriptive text is a text which describe a place, person or thing. Today,
we will learn about description of place. (Teks yang mendeskripsikan suatu
tempat, orang atau benda. Pada materi kali ini, kita akan belajar tentang
deskripsi tempat).
2. Social Function
The social function is to describe a particular place, person or thing.
(Fungsinya untuk mendeskripsikan suatu tempat, orang, benda secara
khusus).
3. Generic Structure
1). Identification : It identifies the place to be described. (Menjelaskan
tempat yang akan dideskripsikan ).
2). Description : It describes the characteristics or parts of a place/building
described. (Mendeskripsikan karakteristik/bagian-bagian suatu
tempat/bangunan yang dideskripsikan seperti lokasi, sejarah, bagian-
bagian tempat tersebut).
4. Language Features
Using a specific participant/subject (menggunakan subject yang
spesifik, misalnya subjeknya TULAMBEN BEACH)
Using lots of adjectives (kata sifat) and adverbs (kata keterangan).
Adjectives are for example, small, large, beautiful, etc. Adverbs are for
examples easily, directly, quickly, etc.
Using simple present tense. For examples: It is located in …, It has
several parts, we can get it …, etc.
5. Example
In this topic, we are going to learn about description of PLACE especially
about historical sites and tourism places. (Dalam topik ini, kita akan
secara khusus mempelajari teks deskripsi tentang TEMPAT, khususnya
tentang tempat bersejarah dan tempat wisata).
TIRTA GANGGA
Tirta Gangga Water Palace is one of the famous tourist destinations in
east part of Bali and it is one the stop points of tourist object on Bali East
Tour. It is a park which has many small statues set on the stone to decorate
the park in order to make a good looking.
Tirta gangga is located at Abang Sub-district, Karangasem Regency in east
part of Bali, about 83 km from Denpasar and 6 km from Amlapura to the
north. Tirta gangga built in 1948 by King of karangasem, Anak Agung
Anglurah Ketut Karangasem. This water park is constructed in a very unique
architectural style of Bali and China. This palace has been shaped in the form
of a beautiful water garden and it is located near a natural spring.
Tirta gangga places in 1.2 hectares in area which consists of three
complexes. The first complex that is at the very bottom to find two teratati
ponds and fountains. The second complex is the center where it can be found
in a swimming pool, while, on the third part, namely the third. The scenery of
the area is fantastic with great views and the climate is relatively cool. These
facts, together with the religious rites of the spring, inspired the King to build
himself a private country house nearby this spring set amidst a beautiful
recreational garden. He called it Tirta gangga - derived from the words 'Tirta'
(blessed water) and 'Gangga' from 'Ganges', the holy river in India.
