genuine desire to learn more about project

of students would write so freely about

the element in our life. The numerous

BQS 560 | PROJECT MANAGEMENT
INTRODUCTION
A project is a short-term, one-time activity with a variable length. It is carried out to meet
a specific demand in an organisation, such as the production of a product or service or
the modification of a business process. This is in direct contrast to how an organisation
typically produces goods or services on a continuous basis. For example, an
organisation’s task may be to build vehicles on a regular basis. As a result, the work is
deemed functional because the organisation creates the same products or services again
and over again, and workers occupy semi-permanent roles.
A project is usually started in response to a perceived need within an organisation.
Because it is a one-time project, it will have a beginning and an end, budget, time and
resource limits., and will need a specially formed team. End user, project manager, client
and other stakeholders are all part of project teams.
Project management is the discipline of coordinating all of the project’s resources and
aspects so that the resources deliver all of the outputs required to complete the project
within the defined scope, time and financial. All stakeholders and team members will
have a clear understanding and acceptance of the process, methodology and intended
outcomes by the time the project begins. A good project manager follows a formal
procedure that can be audited and used as a blueprint for the project, which is
accomplished through the usage of project management methodology.

LEADING
BQS 560 | PROJECT MANAGEMENT
LEADING
Project management abilities are critical for the successful execution of a project from start to finish.
Leadership is critical to project success. The leadership role in project management entails a variety of
actions, including effective planning, task coordination, project oversight, encouraging team
members, and making critical decisions regarding the establishment of a plan of action for project
implementation. The film depicts several of these.
In the film "The Pursuit of Happyness," Will Smith's character Chris Gardener shows the necessary
courage and passion for a leader. Back in the 1980s, Chris started a company to sell medical
equipment, but the venture failed because the medical community as a whole saw the equipment as a
waste of money. Despite the fact that he and his fiancée, Linda, worked long hours, they were still
falling behind on their payments. Chris soon met a stock broker by coincidence, which inspired him to
pursue a profession as a stock broker as well. However, in exchange for a chance in the sector, he was
had to do a six-month unpaid internship. Chris was hesitant to accept the internship because of the
lack of financial remuneration, but he went ahead and signed up nonetheless, despite the difficulties.
A strategic leader must be capable of strategically influencing organisational behaviour. All of
these characteristics, such as passion to the strategic objectives of the organization, learning (or
a willingness to learn), and adaptability, are excellent examples (Hughes, Beatty, & Dinwoodie,
2014). In the movie, Chris was portrayed as a problem solver, and he was able to come up with a
solution to an issue. In one of the scenes, he solved the Rubik's cube puzzle. Mr. Twistle, the
internship program's hiring manager then granted Chris an interview. Chris was left with
nothing except his charisma in another moment. He was out of money, had spent the night in
jail, and was coated in paint, yet he showed up for his arranged brokerage firm interview. He was
open about his situation and shown perseve-ran0c8e, d- etermination, and a great character.

RECRUITING
BQS 560 | PROJECT MANAGEMENT
RECRUITING
Project management is the application of processes, methods, skills, knowledge and experience to
achieve specific project objectives. One of the most important tasks in a project management is
recruitment. Therefore, recruiting is critical assignment for a project to be successful. A recruiter finds
qualified candidates for a job opening and works to meet the demands of both the employer and the
employee throughout the hiring process. The recruiter owns the end-to-end process of talent
acquisition. Some of the key responsibilities of the recruiter include meeting with the hiring manager
after the organization opens new job requisition, attracting and sourcing candidates, pre-screening
and presenting qualified job candidates to the hiring manager, serving as the employee brand
ambassador, while internally and externally soliciting employee referrals.
One of the factors that let companies grow successfully is making the right recruitments. The
recruiting role in project management entails a variety of actions, including the process of actively
seeking out, finding and hiring candidates for a specific position or job. The recruitment definition
includes the entire hiring process, from inception to the individual recruit’s integration into the
company. This was beautifully depicted in the 2006 blockbuster “The Pursuit of Happyness” by
Gabriele Muccino, starring Will Smith as Christopher Gardner.
A recruiter should not judge a book by its cover in order to make a decision. It is crucial for a recruiter
to be able to see beyond physical appearance. The importance of decision making lies in the way it
helps you in choosing between various options. Before making a decision, there is a need to gather all
available information and to weigh its pros and cons. It is crucial to focus on steps that can help in
taking the right decisions especially when recruiting. In the movie, Christopher Gardner had to go to
an interview for intern stockbroker in his shabby clothes. Despite his appearance, the interviewers try
to understand Gardner’s situation. The interviewers learn about Gardner’s competency during the
interview. They also noticed that despite his circumstances, Gardner managed to arrive on time. The
interviewers later give Gardner a role as an unpaid internship. He would be amongst 20 interns
competing for a paid position as a stockbroke-r.1 2 -

CONCLUSION
Communicating, leading, motivating and recruiting

appropriately, write clearly and work well in group,
communication skills are required. A manager is
entrusted with a leadership role and is in charge of
directing a group of employees within a firm or
organisation. Effective leaders are able to
communicate effectively, encourage their teams,
manage and allocate duties, listen to feedback, and
solve problems in a constantly changing environment.
As great manager must motivate their employees to go
above and beyond for their companies. Simply offering
a fair wage is not enough. Besides, a manager can
encourage employees in variety method, including
employee self-esteem through recognition and prizes,
or giving new duties to boost their interest in the firm.
To inspire productivity and passion, managers must
learn which motivators work best for the employees.
Lastly, as a recruiter need to have common skills that

soft skills that are either characteristic in the

manager can be difficult at times, and in order to
thrive in this role, manager need to understand that
