Jade Mountain, St Lucia

Dear Friends,
After more than a year of safer-at-home restrictions, the time f inally has arrived for us
to follow the advice of Mark Twain and “throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe
harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
Slowly, cautiously, the world is reopening, calling on us to leave the conf ines of our
homes and rediscover all the intrigue and excitement that comes with travel. We can
f inally venture beyond our backyards to reconnect with friends and family in the city, at
the beach, in the mountains or even far off international locations.
I am eagerly awaiting travels to some of my favorite places, creating new memories
with old friends and family, and venturing to new destinations that I’ve been waiting to
explore. My taste buds are reawakening with the anticipation of unique f lavors from
faraway lands. My luggage collecting dust in the back of the garage has been cleaned
and is ready to be f illed.
While it is often said that “you don’t know what you have until it is gone,” it is equally
true that “you don’t know what you have been missing, until it is found”.
I hope you all f ind pleasure readjusting to a new normal and rediscovering all that you
have been missing.
Have a beautiful Summer and Fall!
Travel SAFELY, with gratitude and kindness.
All My Best,

Risa Feldman

Jade Mountain

Saint Lucia, Caribbean

Rising majestically above the vast Caribbean Sea lies the stunning, ulta-luxury resor t Jade
Mountain. Architect and owner Nick Troubetzkoy conceived this incredible proper ty as a unique
destination where guests would be exposed to a carefully orchestrated sensory experience.

Summer/Fall 2021 | 7

The bold architectural design makes Jade Mountain a masterpiece and one of the Caribbean’s most
mesmerizing resor t experiences. The adventurous journey to your private sanctuary suite begins
along a suspended sky bridge, seemingly ex tending to inf inity, which is yours and yours alone.

8 | JOURNEYBEYONDASPEN

The location of the proper ty is unsurpassed. Set high above the private estate of Anse Chastanet
and surrounded by 600 lush tropical acres, it is bordered by two Caribbean beaches with sand as
soft as f lour and pristine coral reefs just offshore.

Summer/Fall 2021 | 9

The door to your sanctuary is an oversized rough-hewn slab of exotic tropical
hardwood that opens into a magical surrounding. With the four th wall entirely
absent, Jade Mountain’s sanctuaries are stage-like settings from which to embrace
the full glory of St. Lucia’s Pitons World Heritage Site and, of course, the sparkle
of the Caribbean Sea.

10 | JOURNEYBEYONDASPEN

Expect grand sweeping spaces where bedroom, living area and an ex travagant private inf inity pool ( sur faced
entirely in one-of-a-kind glass tiles) glide into one another to form an ex traordinary design element.
The inf inity pools in each sanctuary offer a one of a kind visual element, water f lowing over a vanishing edge
serves to draw the view into the room, linking the view with water, and water with sky and land, sun and stars.
This complex creative act was accomplished using the palette of indigenous materials that Saint Lucia offers.

12 | JOURNEYBEYONDASPEN

Wrapped around an inf inity pool with a dazzling kaleidoscope of colors is the Jade
Mountain Club offering a unique f ine dining experience created by James Beard award
winner, Chef Allen Susser. The exotic menu is infused with bold tropical f lavors and
local products that nourishes both body and soul. Seemingly hovering above the Club
is the Celestial Terrace, per fect for sunset cocktails or star gazing.

Summer/Fall 2021 | 13

An eclectic collection of locally made, sustainably
harvested tropical furniture decorate the
sanctuaries, giving each one their own individualistic
ambiance. The glass tiles in the inf inity pool feature
an iridescent sur face on one side and a smooth but
undulating sur face on the other, creating a unique
prism of ref lective light. A true masterpiece!

Anse Chastanet

Saint Lucia, Caribbean

This 600-acre resor t is nestled right below its sister proper ty Jade Mountain. While the
sensuous seclusion of the rooms provides guests with the per fect excuse for lolling away the
day on their balconies, the temptation of the Caribbean waters are too alluring to ignore.

Summer/Fall 2021 | 17

The resor t emphasizes the use of local woods in its furnishings,
while cushions, bedspreads and resor t robes are made from
color ful cotton fabrics called madras, the island’s “national cloth.”
To make the most of the panoramic views and the refreshing
tradewinds, octagonal whitewashed cottages come with
wraparound f lower-draped balconies and louvered windows.
