Whole Person Education

Hong Kong Tang King Po College was founded by the Salesians
of Don Bosco in 1965 out of the vision and generosity of the late
merchant Mr. Tang King Po. Classes began in 1966 at the current

school premises, which was
donated by Mr. Tang. In 1978, the
school was made a government-
subsidised grammar school.

The school’s educational

to create a supportive, caring

school by nurturing students in

Don Bosco 1815-1888 their development. It provides
a unique, modern, humanised

and spiritual educational experience so our students can respond to

God’s calling and find their own direction and purpose. This all-

round education helps them to develop positive attitudes and values

in life.

Apart from academic results, we pledge to promote students’ ability
to work independently, with self-discipline and autonomy. Students
are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities to fully
maximise their talents in leadership and coordination.

學校的願景及使命

我們希望看見青少年能在一個建基於基督福音價值、慈幼精神及充滿「愛」
的校園中成長,成為身心和諧、才德兼備、信實守諾、仁慈關愛、禮讓謙遜
和勇毅果敢的青年人,並能參與建設公義和友愛的世界。

因此,我們「教育牧民團體」會竭盡所能,秉承會祖鮑思高神父的教育
使命,塑造一個信任和仁愛的「家」,以喜樂的心,積極臨在,陪伴學生
成長,提供切合時代的人性及信仰教育,帶領青少年尋找生命的方向,回應
天主的召叫。

學校簡史

本校由鮑思高慈幼會於1965年
9月創辦,校舍土地由已故殷商
鄧鏡波先生捐出,1966年完成
建校;校舍在興建中,學生
臨時在西營盤聖類斯中學上
課;1978年由「私立受助」
轉為「政府津貼」之文法中學
(男校)。2013年5月成立
法團校董會。

Our Professional Team

Succeeding the founder’s beliefs, the tireless teaching staff practise the preventive system
in the everyday classroom so as to enable teens’ spiritual growth and holistic development.
To accord priority to the domains of ‘Learning and Teaching’, the School targets in mapping,
reviewing and fine-tuning curricula in both junior and senior secondary levels. The School
enriches the language environment and introduces a series of learning experiences on
the campus and outside the classroom. Peer observations and regular collaborative lesson
planning contribute to continual professional development among teaching staff, and
refinements of teaching methodologies. The School is dedicated to instilling Catholic
values in students and providing opportunities for them to organise activities and take
part in community service with a view to developing them into competent, committed
and resourceful leaders of the future. Students are progressing constantly in the love-filled

58% of our 57 teaching members are equipped with a master’s degree or above, while
60% possess over ten years of teaching experience.

學校秉承慈幼會以愛心為重的教育信念,重視學生在靈育方面的培育,致力

The Spirit of St. John Bosco

To enhance students’ spiritual, moral, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic
growth, we incorporated Religious Education in the curriculum and periodically
organise masses, liturgies, church groups, etc. We preach the gospels to our boys to
lead them to the Lord and enforce their spirituality. We adopt a model for Catholic
Character Formation, where the Gospel values of gratitude, forgiveness, justice,
sacrifice, empathy, kindness and humility are promoted.

We educate young people with the preventive system founded and practised by
St. John Bosco. We persuade young people with reason. We influence their character
with religion. We move their hearts with loving kindness. The School helps shape the
educational environment as a family filled with love and affection.

課程均衡 選擇多元

A Broad and Balanced Curriculum
with Diversification

Junior Secondary and the Medium of Instruction (MOI)

Tailored curricula and teaching methodologies are devised to meet students’ diverse
needs and to bridge gaps between individuals’ abilities and the demand of the
NSS. Split class policy in language lessons has proven a success in boosting junior
students’ motivation.

Mathematics, Science, Geography and Life & Society are offered in both Chinese
and English as the medium of instruction (MOI) at junior levels. A maximum of
25% lesson time in Extended Learning Activities in English (ELA) ensures junior
secondary students to have systematic exposure to subject-related English while
learning content subjects in the mother tongue during lesson time for transition to
a senior secondary curriculum conducted more in English. Class allocation are based
on students’ English results in the Pre-Secondary 1 Hong Kong Attainment Tests.

Senior Secondary

The new senior secondary curriculum consists of three components:

Four Core Subjects:
Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics and Liberal Studies

Two/Three Elective Subjects:
Students are to choose two to three electives among ten choices according to their
abilities and interests

Other Learning Experiences (OLE):
Religious Studies, Aesthetic Development (Art Pursuer), Physical Development, Moral
and Civic Education, Community Service, Career-related Experiences, Life Planning
Education and Assemblies

Scholarships & Prospects

Various scholarships such as Tang Kwai Yuk Janet Scholarship, The Jubilee Scholarship
and HKTKPC Don Bosco Past Pupils’ Association Scholarship are provided to motivate
students to strive for excellence in all aspects.

93% of our boys attained a Level 2 or above in all subjects in the HKDSE examinations,
out-performing other day school candidates in Hong Kong. Nearly all graduates
were offered places in either local or overseas prestigious tertiary institutes.

初中課程及教學語言

校本課程的重點乃提供適切的學習內容予不同能力、興趣和程度的學生,亦
為學生提供均衡及廣闊的課程,與新高中銜接。

初中語文科目按學生能力進行分組教學,透過分層的課業及持續評估,有
系統地提升學生的程度。

教學語言政策

學校會為具備以英語學習能力的學生提供較廣闊的英語學習環境。初中部分
學生將以英語學習數學、科學、地理、生活與社會四個學科。部分班別的
非語文科目將以中文為教學語言,並輔以最多25%的課時進行「英語延展
教學活動」,使學生能銜接以英語授課的高中科目。初中主要以英文成績
編班,讓學生能以合適的語言學習,學生升讀中二時有轉班 / 組的機會。

高中課程

課程分三個部份

核心科目 : 中國語文、英國語文、數學、通識教育

選修科目 : 2X或3X(兩個或三個選修科目)。學生可按個人的
興趣和能力,在十個選修科中,選擇合適的選修科目。

「其他學習經歷」 : 包括宗教倫理、藝術發展(藝行者)、體育、德育及公民
教育、義工服務、生涯規劃課及週會。當中「藝行者」
計劃讓學生涉獵多元化的藝術元素,發揮創意、欣賞
文化及表演藝術。在社區服務方面,學校推行義工訓練
及義務工作計劃,理論與實踐並重。

93%以上學生在中學文憑試應考的全部科目達二級或以上,成績均高於
全港。95%以上的學生在香港及海外各大學及專上學院修讀學士、副學士、
高級文憑等課程。
學生取得符合本地學士學位課程入學要求的百分率,以及符合本地副學位
課程入學要求的百分率,均高於全港日校考生的百分率。與收錄相近水平
中一學生的學校比較,學校在過去兩年的香港中學文憑考試表現優異。

自主學習 建構知識

Self-Directed Learning

To align with the advocacy of diversified learning, our school-based curricula have
been formulated to include group discussions, experiential learning, cooperative
learning, project learning and exploratory learning to develop students’ abilities in
critical thinking.

The introduction of timely and continual assessments, Study Rooms, core subject
enhancement & remedial programmes have effectively boosted students’ motivation
and self-directed learning skills.

In pursuit of providing the best possible learning environment for STEM education,
our school has procured resources for school-based scientific and technological
workshops and competitions, so as to support our teens and empower them to be
curious inquirers and creative problem-solvers.

Different schemes – school-based curricula, Extended Learning Activities in English
(ELA), English Day, English Ambassador Scheme, book exhibitions, lunch reading
programmes, morning assembly, book sharing, etc. are launched to immense
students in an engaging language environment. Parents’ participation is also
welcome because together we can help our teens establish a lifelong reading and
learning habit.

The E-class, functioning as one of our online platforms for most subjects, facilitates
students’ learning from home as they are presented with self-paced modules, which
allow them to work at their own pace.

Apart from routine lessons, students have enrolled in Life-wide Learning activities
and even overseas study tours to New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, Xian, Cambodia,
Singapore, etc. to include informal curriculum outside the classroom and also
broaden students’ horizons.

配合教育改革的多元化學習,每節課時為45分鐘,使學生有更多機會參與
學習過程,透過小組討論、專題研習、經驗學習、合作學習等教學活動,
建構知識,發展明辨思維的能力。

緊扣教學、學習和評估三個環節,透過適時和持續的評估,有效促進學習。

設課後自修室;建立自學習慣,部分級別安排中、英、數「拔尖、保底」
課程;學校積極回應教育局或其他教育團體主辦的學術交流和生活體驗
活動,拓闊學生視野,培育領導才能,跑出課室,在真實的情境下進行學習。

探究精神 創新思維

本校近年開始推行有關STEM的活動,讓
學生透過校內及到校的外購課程,體驗
科學、科技、工程及數學四大範疇的應用與
實踐。當中的課程內容包括:機械人編程
班、科學探究工作坊等,學生的創意思維和
建構能力得以發揮及培養。

在全方位學習小組統籌下,學生參與由個別
科組或多個科組合作組織的活動,連繫學科
知識和日常生活,學生選擇有興趣的主題,
進行探究。學生能夠由淺入深,按步學習和
應用各種探究技巧。

廣泛閱讀 終身學習

本校透過自編課程、網上學習平台、強化
閱讀計劃、英語延展教學計劃、課後延伸
活動及課程、全校英語日、英語大使、
書展、午間閱讀等,營造語言環境。

全校施行「午間閱讀計劃」,於每天的午間
設閱讀時間及不同閱讀主題。亦安排同學在
早會及午讀期間分享閱讀成果。

此外,學生參加中、英文廣泛閱讀計劃及
「看漢中文網」網上閱讀計劃,培養終身
學習的能力。

網上學習 突破時空

透過拓展網上學習平台、統整數碼教學資源
以及培育學生資訊科技素養三方面,並在
不斷改善數碼設備之下,發展以學生為本的
學習模式。

現時學校大部分科目均提供網上學習平台供
學生使用,並進行自助評估,以促進學習。

驥行千里 放眼四方

本校除重視學生的課堂學習外,為配合新學制及社會對青年人的期望,校內
不同科組亦舉辦各類活動,鼓勵學生走出教室,深化學習;接觸社會,增長
識見。
因應各科課程及學生成長需要,舉辦如「中文大學實景寫作」、「濕地公園
實地考察」等活動,讓學生將課堂教學與校外活動相結合,提升學習的成效
和趣味。

本校各科組積極安排不同主題的境外考察活動,如「華東交流考察團」、
「外蒙古生活體驗團」及「柬埔寨扶貧助學體驗團」,師生足跡遍及
紐西蘭、越南、烏茲別克、緬甸、台灣、日本、新加坡、北京、西安、敦煌
等地,令學生能夠藉著參觀、交流及學習,體驗不同文化,並與其他地區的
師生進行交流,擴闊學生的經歷和視野。

A Caring and Supportive Environment

Students are very polite, courteous, friendly, obedient, cheerful, articulate and
responsive. They love to stay after school for extra-curricular activities. Seniors
are keen on taking care of their junior counterparts, demonstrating a strong peer
relationship. Students are eager to take up roles in serving the School, teachers
and schoolmates. Some are enthusiastic and responsible, showcasing outstanding

The School runs almost 30 extra-curricular clubs, musical instrument classes,
immersion tours, and the four houses, the Rua, Savio, Rinaldi and Versiglia, named
after the four saints from Salesians of Don Bosco. The Students’ Association is
formed through an election among students. The committee practises autonomy in
planning and managing inter-class competitions and reflects students’ opinions to
the school management.
The Debate Team, English Choral Speaking Team, Maths Team, Choir and Sports
Teams participate in inter-school events throughout the academic year to cultivate
students’ commitment to school and the will to strive for excellence via competitions.
To ensure that students can become loving and responsible citizens in society, the
School emphasises the need for community service and equip them with relevant
skills during assemblies, training classes, overseas visits, etc.
Immersed in a loving and caring environment, students, especially Secondary One
boys, are provided with a lot of support by teachers and school social workers.

學生表現大方得體,態度友善,有禮守規,淳實活潑,善於與人溝通,樂於
留校活動。高年級學長能關懷照顧低年級同學,發揮朋輩互助精神,值得
讚賞。學生樂意擔當不同職務,緊守崗位,服務師生。學生領袖態度積極,
具責任感,組織力強,籌劃工作時能獨當一面,充分發揮領導才能。

學生踴躍參與課外活動,亦積極參加各類校內、校外比賽和活動。學生在

校際朗誦和音樂中曾獲取多個獎項;在運動比賽方面表現不俗,其中以游泳

課外活動

本校共設有近30個學會及興趣
小組,分為宗教、學術、興趣、
服務及體育五大類別,希望培養
學生參加課外活動的興趣及組織
活動的能力;鼓勵學生重視群體
合作精神,投入活動及貢獻自己。

學生必須參加一至兩項課外活動,
初中教友必須加入一項宗教類
學會,以增加對信仰的認識。

科組與學會推動學生參加校際活動
和比賽、國內及海外的考察團,以
擴闊視野。

重視藝術發展,開設多項樂器班、
管弦樂團和劇社,高中推行「藝行
者」課程,配合視藝、音樂、表演
及創意藝術,讓學生學會欣賞。

學校設四社,以慈幼會的四位聖賢
命名,分別為盧華社、維豪社、納德社和鳴道社。每一位同學隸屬一社,
透過多元化的社際比賽和活動,激發潛能、增強歸屬感,發揮薪火相傳的
優良傳統。

學生會內閣由全體學生投票選出,幹事團積極推行會務,籌辦活動,並向
學校反映意見,讓學生學習自治和民主。

校隊及聯校比賽

設有中文辯論隊、英詩朗誦隊、數學隊、合唱團及運動類校隊,發展及培訓
學生的潛能。

學校鼓勵同學積極參與校際比賽,爭取經驗,希望通過比賽,在競爭中求取
進步,如:校際音樂節、校際朗誦節、校際辯論比賽、學界運動比賽
(籃球、足球、游泳、羽毛球、乒乓球、手球等)、徵文比賽等。同學表現
優異,屢奪獎項。
