Whether it’s onboard our Luxury Yachts, Premier Rio Negro Lodge, A Private Expedition, Headwaters

Exploration, or Headwaters Adventures Camps it’s all designed for the World Class Angler.

Lower Region Rio Negro: August to September
Upper Rio Negro “Land of the Giants”: October to March
About our Amazon Excursions:

Thank you for your interest in Peacock Bass Fishing on the Rio Negro in Brazil, South America. Amazon Xtreme
Fishing Adventures, LLC “AXF” offers the ultimate combination from exploratory trips to the Amazon’s finest
luxury yachts, its Premier Lodge, and fly-in Headwater Floating Lodge, American-made bass boats and its select
handpicked staff and guides in South America. With your host Capt. Marc and our infrastructure, brought with
their highly acclaimed Professional Guides and his years of experience in serving world-class anglers in their
travels abroad. This combination of an experienced operator, English speaking staff, great equipped bass boats,
luxury accommodations, their knowledgeable guides the Amazon has to offer, makes Amazon Xtreme Fishing
“The Must Go-To Fishing Destination”. Our experienced guides will spend 6 fishing days probing the farthest
reaches of The Rio Negro, and tributaries in search of World Class Trophy Peacock Bass. Anglers are paired two
to a boat with a native Brazilian guide. Amazon Xtreme Fishing’s anglers will enjoy 70hp Tracker bass boats
from which to fish. Designed for conventional and fly fishermen, they feature a clear deck with front and rear
casting platforms. Each day your guide will fill an ice chest with an assortment of beverages, fruits and
sandwiches, so that you can fish all day without returning to the "base camp", or you may choose to return for
lunch and relaxation if you desire.

The Amazon Basin:
Keep in mind that, for the most part, this is a trophy fishery and visiting anglers should be prepared to battle the
trophy peacocks with large lures and flies. Often dense jungle growth encountered getting to those "secret
lagoons" favored by our experienced guides as you chop your way through the jungle (if guest is physically
capable). River levels in this watershed can change quickly and affect fishing conditions, regardless of the season
or historical patterns. Navigation of boats may also be affected. Daytime temperatures typically range from
80-100 degrees during the day, but typically cool down to the 70s in the evening. The jungle is surprisingly
friendly due the high tannin concentration of its waters, and there are no mosquitoes here. There are, however,
some gnats, along with horseflies and bees.

Your host and his Guides:
Capt. Marc, an outdoors enthusiast, born in the Galapagos, Isle San Cristobal, grew up in the U.S, moved to
Brazil in 1998 and lived in the Amazon more than 10 years exploring the far reaches of the Rio Negro’s fisheries,
till he returned to the U.S. in 2008. With his passion for the Amazon and living on the Rio Negro during the
fishing season with taking care of hundreds of anglers who came down season after season. Now, with a vast
knowledge, he accompanies all our groups for an Adventure of a Lifetime. Our guides were born and raised in the
Amazon watershed of Brazil, from the various areas you will be fishing during your visit. They gleaned their
knowledge of this vast watershed by venturing out since their childhood. Because of their knowledge of this
watershed and their ability to understand changing conditions and fish behavior, they soon were sought after by
fishing operators eager to have them teach American anglers about the ways of the Peacock Bass. Many of his
handpicked guides and staff are not just employees, but more like a family as they have worked with Capt. Marc
for the past 15 years not to mention their experience, which surpasses 20yrs.

Manaus out of Miami (Afternoon flight on American Airlines or early morning flight on TAM Brazilian Airlines).
We recommend contacting our specialty travel agent Kevin Martin at Martin Travel Services at (1-800-627-8468
or [email protected]) for the schedule that will best suit your trip and book your flights. All
domestic and international flights should be booked on one itinerary for more travel security especially for
unforeseen late flights. Personal Client Trip Schedule will be sent according to destinations.

Friday - Arrival Day in Manaus Amazon:

After arrival in Manaus and passing customs, our English Speaking Host will be waiting for you at the exit doors,
our shuttle and driver will pick the group up and take to hotel for a night stay. *Note: If by chance a checked bags
did get left behind, don’t panic, fill out the claim ticket inside, go through security and immigration, and see our host
outside to help out, we are there for you all the way!

Saturday - Arrival at Destination:

After breakfast at the hotel, your host and transfer driver will pick the group up around 6:00 am, and head to a
local airport to board one of our charter flights to the town of Barcelos. The charter flight duration is
approximately 1hr 15min. There our AXF staff will be prepared and waiting to take you to your final destination.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a refreshing welcome drink, shown to your cabin, and then greeted in the
comfortable lounge where you will meet the guides and fishing team. After a cold drink and lunch, anglers will
have a brief explanation of the daily fishing plans and schedule about the yacht. You’ll have a chance to get
situated in your suite, and prepare for a half-day of fishing that afternoon from 2pm to 5:30pm, your cooler,
tackle and guide will be ready.

Sunday to Friday:

Each day teams of two anglers fish one of the

beats on the Rio Negro (including islands, tributaries

and lagoons), with one professional English-

speaking fishing guide in a fully equipped Bass Tracker fishing

boats. These wide-bodied, 18-foot boats have

two casting platforms (one at either end of the

boat so both anglers can fish at the same time), a side console, and are powered by 70hp, 4-stroke motors, as well
as remote-control electric motors.

Departure Day - Saturday:

In the morning, the group will have a leisurely breakfast and finish packing and prepare for transfer to the local
airport, waiting for the arrival of the planes, which will drop off the incoming group and transfer you back to
Manaus. The plane will arrive back in Manaus in by mid-morning, you will be taken back to the hotel (a day
room can be reserved) for the afternoon and await final transfer to international airport for your flight back home.

Return flight to Miami:

Most anglers will be departing on the late night flight, technically the next morning, American Airlines
departing Manaus for Miami at 12:40 am on Sunday morning with Miami arrival at 5:30am, if on TAM
Airlines you will be transferred upon arrival in Manaus for your afternoon flight Saturday afternoon back
to Miami.

***Always keep updated on airline flights as trip comes closed, changes in scheduled itinerary may occur***
(Above Rates are stated as a guide for the 2016/2017 season and may be subject to currency and seasonal variations.
Please enquire for exact prices for the dates you are interest.)

The 2016 Season:

As one angler once said, a Peacock Bass is like
a fish on steroids. Anglers become victims of an
addiction caused by the explosive power of the
Peacock Bass as the high rush of adrenaline
rushes through your body when out of nowhere,
the cannon ball hit the water just feet in front of
you, the rod suddenly goes wildly out of control,
line buzzes and rod bends to its limits with the
possible trophy at the end of the line. Then the
angler realizes the battle just begun and he now
has to us all his talents, hand on, and land that
Monster! Every day an angler goes out fishing it
seems to make him just want more days and
every fish he catches seems to make him just
want to catch more and more fish.

Whether you are after numbers or trophies, cast
plugs, or flies, want to troll, or just want to learn about the various fish species of the Amazon watershed, our
expert guides can, and will, increase your chances of achieving your goal. Their intimate knowledge of the
peacock bass is such that during each week the manager consults with our guides daily to determine the most
prime areas to be fished the following day. Most of the fishing will take place in lagoons and backwater bays off
the Rio Negro or Madeira Rivers and other main tributaries, but
main river structures can also yield trophy-class fish. One of the
most exciting aspects of fishing for Peacock Bass is their explosive
power for attacking surface lures. Peacock Bass fishing is very
similar to largemouth bass fishing in the States. Both species
ambush prey from cover and structure. Casting top water plugs,
jerk baits, flies or jigs to stumps, shoreline blow downs, rock piles,
lagoons, creek mouths and sandbars is the norm. If you desire to
fly fish, the most successful flies are larger profiled patterns - all
tied on 4/0 and 5/0 quality saltwater hooks. These should be tied in
a diversity of colors. You will be sent a detailed packing and tackle
list. While we make every attempt to monitor such conditions,
anglers assume the risk of these natural forces beyond our control.

So, if you are a first time Angler coming to the Amazon (Tony on
the left), or a returning addicted angler (Ed below). Capt. Marc
wants his Guest to be “Up to Speed” as he says. So, don’t worry if
you are a novice or a skilled angler coming for the First-Time to
the Amazon, Capt. Marc and his guides will work with everyone to
quickly improve the Amazon “Wood-chopping” Techniques, no
one comes back empty handed. Just ask any returning angler well
acquainted with the guides abilities and how excited they become
when it’s your big time! “Big Fish, Big Fish, Set Hook”. Don’t
really know who gets more excited sometimes, the angler or his
guide!

Everything you must know about “Applying for a Brazilian Tourist Visa”:

Apply for your Visa 90 days prior to travel to allow enough time to process, consulate updates.
If you are a citizen of the United States, you need a Brazilian Tourist Visa in order to enter Brazil. If you are not a U.S. citizen, Brazil does
have reciprocity agreements with a number of countries, and depending on your citizenship, a visa may or may not be needed in your
particular case. If you are not an American or Canadian citizen, you need to check to see if you need a VISA to enter Brazil for tourism.

The process of applying for a visa is somewhat involved, as you cannot simply have your passport stamped at the airport upon arrival.
Brazilian immigration officials will simply not allow you into the country without a visa. You also need a valid U.S. passport that is not
expiring in the next six (6) months and must have at least 2 blank pages available in the Visas: Entries/Departure section (not the
Amendment pages).

A visa application must be submitted to the Consulate General of Brazil at an office that has  consular jurisdiction  over the state or
territory where you reside. Most Consulate General offices will not accept visa applications by mail (although they will mail your
passport and visa back to you if provided with a postage-paid envelope), and you should expect to make an appointment to appear at
the Consulate in person or have an authorized third party appear on your behalf. If you do not live in an area near the Consulate
General offices, you can use a visa processing service authorized to handle such applications.

As of 2015, the fee for a tourist visa to Brazil for U.S. citizens is $160.00 - $180.00. If you cannot apply in person, you will have to pay an
additional absentee fee. Using a visa processing company will likely include extra fees. The Consulate General accepts USPS money
orders only and will not take cash or personal checks.

In addition to the money order and your passport, the following materials are required for processing your application:

❖ A printed receipt page of the tourist visa application, which should be filled out online and downloaded from the consulate website,
prior to your visit to the Consulate

❖ One (2" x 2") passport picture, taken against a white background. Please glue the photo to the application receipt page;
❖ A copy of your round-trip ticket or a booked flight itinerary showing travel to and from Brazil (confirming the purchase of the ticket,

with passenger’s name, itinerary, flight number and details of arrival/departure dates);
❖ Your driver’s license or anything that can serve as proof of residence (such as a current utility bill).
❖ Visa Application “Destination Address”: Use this address for destination information on online applications.

Visa processing times for applications vary: Processing time may take up to ten (10) business days for applications received in person.
The consulates that accept applications by mail usually require 7 to 20 business days (NOT including transit times) to process visas.
Check with the consulate where you will be applying for their current processing times.
Start applications process 90 days prior to your travel dates.
You must sign your Passport before you send it in with your Visa application! I would suggest that you also make a photocopy of
your Passport for your personal records, before sending it for processing.
Once you are issued a Tourist Visa, you can travel to Brazil multiple times for up to 90 days per trip. Brazil tourist visas issued in the USA
before May 28, 2010 are valid for five years. Visas issued in the USA on or after May 28, 2010 are valid for ten years under a reciprocal
agreement between the United States and Brazil.

The 90 day must enter the country of issue date rule “does not apply anymore”

Some consulates do not accept applications by mail, so applicants within these jurisdictions who are unable to apply in person
MUST use a visa expediting agency.

a message to Brazil for you. Office hours in the U.S. are Monday-Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

use the phone often.

• GIFTS/CANDY: Many clients like to bring treats for the local children but PLEASE DO NOT
BRING CANDY!!! This is to help prevent the damage that sugar treats inflict on the children’s

are also collecting school supplies, over-the counter medications, and other necessities for the
local villages in the area. Please call our office if you would like to take donations to Brazil.

• RETURN TRAVEL: We recommend that customers schedule a connecting flight home no sooner
than 3 hours after landing back in the US following your return flight from Manaus. You will need
to gather your baggage, clear customs, etc.

Please reconfirm your international flight schedule & times because
these are subject to change without notice!

We are not responsible for lost or delayed bags on your arrival flights to Manaus. We strongly
recommend that you personally carry your bags from your U.S. flight to the ticket counter for your
connecting flight to Brazil, and check them in instead of checking them from your home all the way to
Manaus. On occasion, bags that were checked all the way through were late to arrive and customers
have been forced to spend the week without their personal baggage. Amazon Xtreme Fishing
provides the usage of conventional tackle packages, including bait casting rods, at no charge to
you. This will save considerable time at Customs! If bags arrive late, it is not possible to get them up to
you unless you charter a small private plane.

FISHING EQUIPMENT

RODS & REELS

Amazon Xtreme Fishing provides fishing equipment for our clients at no additional charge. 4-Bait
Casting Rods with 4- Reels spooled with 80lb. braided line and 1- lure box with top water lures will be in
each boat for client’s use, except in the case of broken rods – then you will be charged $100 for
replacement – fee is paid directly to the camp host.

Clients that are avid anglers often ask if they may bring their own gear and the answer is YES! It is very
easy to throw a favorite reel or two in your carry-on bag with little additional weight but rod cases can be
quite cumbersome to haul through airports. If you decide to bring all of your own tackle, please consider
the following suggestions. Rods need to be medium-heavy to heavy, six to seven-feet in length and
rated for 25 - 30 lb. line. Due to the strength of the fish and the abundance of structure, you should
spool a minimum of 80 lb. test braided line on your reels. When fishing for peacocks, reels with an
excellent drag system and at least 110 yards capacity are necessary. There is no need for steel leaders
if fishing exclusively for peacock bass as the leaders can take some action out of the lures, but clients
should always check their line carefully after a strike and/or fighting a fish.

LURES

Although most anglers who have been fishing with us before have a personal favorite, the large top-
water lure called the Woodchopper, usually catches the largest fish year after year. We supply clients
with the Woodchopper in a variety of colors such as clown, perch, black/orange, and fire tiger. The
ferocious strike of a peacock bass on top-water bait is truly something you must see, feel and
experience for yourself. However, if the Woodchopper is not productive on a particular day or you are
not up to the physical challenge of casting large plugs for ten hours a day, clients may want to try down-
sizing to smaller lures or sub-surface baits (not supplied by Amazon Xtreme Fishing).

If you would like to bring a few sub-surface lures (Yo-Zuri Crystal Minnows, Rattle-Traps, jigs, etc…) of
your own to try, or even some of the items from your packing list we recommend you contact:

My friends Brenda and Rob at “www.monsterpeacockbasslures.com” and tell them we sent ya!

FLY FISHING TACKLE
(Not Provided)

The aggressive jungle species are well suited to fly fishing and many world records are waiting to be set.
Two 9- or 10- weight fly rod are recommended, reels should have a smooth drag, hold at least 110 yards
of backing, and be spooled with weight forward bass taper floating lines. We suggest 6-8 feet of
monofilament 20-40 lb. tapered leader/tippet material.
