CAN YOU DESCRIBE A FEW OF THE UNIQUE
MATERIALS BEING USED?
• Terracotta baguette rainscreen system
extruded and kiln fired in Germany to cover the
Jewel Box (center core of the building).
• Decorative Mirrored Glass Rainscreen Panels with Custom Colors.
Glass made in Europe.
• Brombal Entry Doors which are thermally broken 11’-6” x 3’-6” pivot
doors with concealed hardware. Cost is $42k per door. Built in Italy.
CAN YOU DESCRIBE IN A FEW SENTENCES THE PROCESS OF HOW YOU WILL MOVE
VANCE KIRKLAND’S ORIGINAL STUDIO TO THE NEW SITE?
Vance Kirland’s original studio, 1600 sf brick and plaster structure built in
1910 is being dislodged from the current Kirkland Museum and will be placed
on six sets of articulating and self driving wheels under steel frame and will
be moved 1.2 miles through downtown Denver to the new Museum site. This
work has taken an extraordinary amount of coordination with the City of
Denver and local businesses, not to mention the subs and building movers.
There is a daily discovery and resolution process that occurs as the
construction teams prepare the building for this move. It’s amazing to watch.
