ASAL USUL TELAPAK KAKI LAHILOTE

The origin of lahilote's foot

Once upon a time there was a man named Lahilote who lived in the headwaters of a river
near a spring in the Province of Gorontalo, his daily job was to look for rattan in the
forest.

Rotan menjadi
salah satu bahan dasar pembuatan perlengakapn rumah tangga masyarakat Gorontalo.

Lahilote collects rattan from the forest and sells the rattan in the market. Rattan is one of the basic
materials for making household items for the people of Gorontalo. Because many people need their
rattan, the Lahilote is working harder.

Then one day Lahilote went looking for rattan in the forest as usual he left with a happy heart.
Unexpectedly he saw 7 angels bathing in the river. Laughter could be heard from a distance.

Ketika mereka sedang mandi, Lahilote mencuri sebuah selendang salah satu bidadari dan
menyembunyikannya disuatu tempat.

When they were bathing, Lahilote stole a shawl from one of the angels and hid it somewhere. After a
while the angels realized, apparently someone had been peeking at them bathing.

The sudden presence of Lahilote really surprised the angels. They quickly got out of the river and
immediately flew to heaven, except for one angel who lost her shawl. He was sad and confused after the
death of his angel friends. Long story short, the angel who was left behind was persuaded and married by
Lahilote.

Hari berganti hari, bulan berganti bulan, tahun berganti tahun. Hingga pada
suatu hari seperti biasa, Lahilote mencari rotan ke hutan.

Day after day, month after month, year after year. Until one day, as usual, Lahilote looked
for rattan in the forest.

Ketika sedang membersihkan rumah, tanpa sengaja istri Lahilote menemukan salendangnya
yang hilang dalam sebuah tabung bambu. Ia senang sekali karena salendangnya telah di
temukan.

While cleaning the house, Lahilote's wife accidentally found her sandang missing in a bamboo tube. He
was very happy because his scarf had been found. At that moment he flew to his original place, namely
heaven.

Ia
memegang sebuah rotan hutiya mala. Sang polahi berkata “Rotan ini memandumu kekayangan,
temukan isterimu di sana”. Lahilote pun terbang menuju kayangan.

On that day, Lahilote felt very lucky because he got more rattan than usual. he walked home happily. But when he
came home his joy faded. The empty bamboo tube and his wife have returned to their wealth. He's really broke.
Suddenly a Polahi, a tribe living in the middle of the forest, appeared before him. He holds the rattan of a hutiya
mala rattan. The polahi said "This rattan guides you to wealth, find your wife there“. Lahilote also flew to heaven.

Sesampai dikayangan Lahilote langsung bertemu dengan isterinya. Lahilote dan isterinya
Bersatu kembali dikayangan.

Arriving in heaven, Lahilote immediately met his wife. Lahilote and his wife Reunited in heaven.

Lalu, Lahilote sedang asik Bersama isterinya. Lahilote berbaring di pangkuan
isterinya sementara itu, isterinya sibuk mencari kutu dikepala Lahilote. Ia terkejut melihat
uban yang ada dikepala suaminya. Iya teringat peraturan bahwa seseorang yang beruban
tidak abadi dan tidak boleh ada dikayangan. Lahilote pun menanyakan apa alasannya, dan
isterinya menjawab “Apalah arti sebuah cinta kalau Tuan sudah beruban, apalah artinya
sebuah kayangan kalau tuan tinggal bayangan”.

Then, Lahilote is having fun with his wife. Lahilote lay on his wife's lap meanwhile, his wife was
busy looking for lice on his head. She was surprised to see the gray hair on her husband's head. Yes, he
remembered the rule that someone with gray hair is not eternal and cannot exist in heaven. Lahilote also
asked what the reason was, and his wife replied "What is the meaning of love if you have gray hair, what
is the meaning of a heaven if you are only a shadow".

dibuatnya. Lalu ia turun kebumi menggunakan sebilah papan.

Lahilote did not expect that the consequences would be so heavy. He was really sad and devastated.
Then he descended to earth using a plank.

Sesampainya di bumi, Lahilote Bersumpah “sampai senja umurku nanti,
berbatas pantai Pohe, berujung kain kafan, disana telapak kakiku akan terpatri
sepanjang zaman”.

Arriving on earth, Lahilote vowed "until the twilight of my age, bordering Pohe
beach, tipped with a shroud, there the soles of my feet will be imprinted for all time."
Finished saying that with all the sadness and a miserable soul, Lahilote stamped his foot
with all his might until it bled and left a mark on a stone.

The sole-shaped stone can be found on Pohe beach, Gorontalo. This stone is still there today.
According to local belief, the stone is the sole of the Lahilote's foot, who was very sad because
he was cast out of heaven.
