ABOUT US



We are Frams, one of South Africa’s original safety footwear brands. We manufacture consistent,
economical and reliable safety footwear. Forming part of BBF Safety Group (Pty) Ltd. and based
in Johannesburg, South Africa, everything at Frams is centered around our customers. We are

mindful of the needs and challenges faced by our customers in Africa and to us, value extends
beyond price alone.


By adopting a flexible approach and building strong relationships, we strive to always provide

the value required by our customers. Our range of safety footwear is designed for local and
international use. Our factory is ISO 9001 certified and all our products are either SANS/ISO

PU Dual Density Sole Range


The majority of our safety footwear styles
are manufactured using direct injection moulded
dual density polyurethane. These are ideal for
short-term workers. Polyurethanes are organic
polymers made by the reaction of diisocyanates
with other di-functional compounds such as glycols.
Foamed polyurethanes such as these used in the
soles of Frams safety footwear, result from the
reaction of diisocyanates with polyesters.


Single density is still a viable method of soling
safety footwear but we utilise dual density
polyurethane for our boots and shoes. These
provide a hardwearing outer sole and lower
density comfort midsole. These soles wear at a
slower rate than that of single density and the
midsole of medium density polyurethane acts
as a cushion, ensuring that the footwear
is comfortable.

Vulcanised Rubber Sole Range


The Frams Vulcanised Rubber Sole Range
makes use of nitrile rubber. Formed in an
emulsion process using free-radical initiators,
nitrile rubber shows outstanding resistance
to oil, with hydrogenated versions demonstrating
very high resistance to thermal and oxidative
deterioration. These properties make it an ideal
material for soles that require specialised
heat resistance.


The soles used on these styles comprise of specially
formulated nitrile rubber that can withstand heats
of up to 300ͦ Celsius. This range is ideal for use in
foundries, smelters, tapping floors and industries
producing hot metal shavings during manufacture.
