UNCERTAINTY EXPECT THE
ZIGZAG
John Steinmetz chose an unpaid
internship with the white house over a
job with Bear Stearns, one of the top
10 investment banks, only to encounter
a hiring freeze in 2002. It led him to
another job, the foundation, for his
miraculous career in Banking.
MENTORSHIP FOUNDATION OF THE CAREER
In his first job with PlainsCapital Bank John D. Steinmetz had the
opportunity to work under the company chairman and CEO Alan White.
This mentorship played a crucial role in his career and proved to be the
foundation stone for his assignment with Vista Bank.
ACCEPTING BEGINNING WITH VISTA BANK
THE
CHALLENGE Steinmetz encountered an unprecedented
challenge when a smaller, family-owned bank,
headquartered in a town of less than 2,000 people,
VISTA BANK, invited him to work with them. He
quit this large organization only to compete with
them with only a $950,000 legal lending limit in
hand. He accepted it.
WEAKNESS ACCEPT WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW
John Steinmetz recalling his early days with Vista Bank says "We
thought we knew everything there was to know. At 29, I realized
really quick how much we didn't know." He accepted where they
lagged and the vision was more clear about what needs to be done.
RIGHT MOVE IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

John D. Steinmetz and his team after realizing the challenge before
them, collaborated with other banks. They also started adding
prestigious clients, which proved be a turning point in Bank's growth.
