BrIDoN Beale street: reserve - Dressage level 2.
owned by connie arthur.
Bridon Beale street is a delightful Irish Draught stallion who had
competed in eventing through Intermediate and is currently com-
peting in Dressage at Prix st. georges. his offspring are doing
both disciplines as well as trail, foxhunting, hunters and jumpers.
We love “liam” as he is a super easy horse to be around - he is
good at shows, at home and on the trail. he did get to participate
in the 2010 World equestrian games as an “Irish ambassador”
and had a great time meeting people! his list of awards is far too
long to list here, but his most important attribute is his fantastic
temperament.

KIKo: champion - Driving level 1. Desert Pearl
owned and driven by Boo fitch.
Kiko had a light year in 2016. she continued her training in ridden
dressage as it is wonderful cross training for combined Driving.
she remains working at third level dressage. she travelled to the
hermitage classic cDe outside of louisville Ky in the fall and got to
compete and run around around these huge 10’ by 10’ tall plastic
pink snails decorating the obstacle. In typical Kiko style she took all in
stride. she will be competing in the 2017 Driving triple crown in fl.
Kiko at 14 years old remains very sound and very competitive. she is
a testament to the breed for sure.

level 1. owned by connie arthur.
Desert Pearl by Bridon Beale street is one of the most willing and
tractable horses I have ever owned. he moved up to Preliminary this
year and also excelled at Jumpers. I believe he only had two rails all
year in stadium jumping. although his mom (monique, a lusitano/
Paint/tB cross) is just a plain little mare, Desert Pearl (barn name
Wyatt) has size and presence galore, and even lets an old gal ride
him!
lIoNWooD glImmerglass: reserve - eventing level 1.

my heart was pounding as we walked down the lane to cross-country
warm-up. the course walk, normally a calming activity that helps me
develop a game plan, only exacerbated the roller-coaster of emotions.
fitch’s corner, a beautiful slice of heaven in the hudson Valley re-
gion of New york, isn’t the place where most people move up a level.

under the watchful eye of mary D’arcy (on the ground) and shelley
Q. Peters (in the irons). ms. D’arcy describes rosie as a “smart and
willing mare”, while olympian greg Best commented on rosie being
a “powerful, willful jumper”. rosie welcomes the challenges that are
added to her training regimen but mostly she looks forward to hack-
ing out with her sister, roxie, enjoying an occasional “spa day” and
eating lots of red Delicious apples as rewards for a Job Well Done!
to describe this purebred Irish Draught mare as straightforward and
lovely, kind, sweet and athletic, is a testament to her breeder rachael

advertisers, silent auction Items were collected, volunteers
were signed up, the prize list was created and mary entered the
horses & owners who planned to come. We had a very minimum
of entries headed into the last month of the show, and a spec-
tacular show program was designed by laurie that is available on
the annual show website. When a few owners had to drop out
for one legitimate reason after another, the entries dropped to a
number that would not allow for the show to continue. It was a
heartbreaking decision to cancel the classes a week before the
show was to start. all entry, sponsorship, advertising and ban-
quet monies were refunded, (there were several members who
donated their money back to the show and we are very appre-
ciative for these generous souls!) leaving the show in the red as
some money had to be spent early to have everything ready for
the show. We ran the silent auction through the 32auctions site
to defray some of these costs and because generous members
wished their Items to still go for bidding! the silent auction
raised $939.50, which will help to balance the show expenses.
We need to evaluate the value of running the annual show---the
shows have made money in the past due to successful silent
auctions and generous sponsors but the show should be about
proudly showcasing our horses and providing the springboard for
competition among our own----

Northwest Region - BY CHRIS NEHER
the Northwest region of the IDhsNa is small in number
of members, but continues to be a large presence in our
region. for over 10 years the region has had a presence
at what has become the premier horse trial in the western u.s.,
the event at rebecca farm. the NW region has over the years
staffed a society booth, and sponsored awards for high placing
horses of verifiable ID blood.
the 2016 event at rebecca farm was held July 21-24 in Kalispell,
montana. as in past years, the Northwest region of the IDhsNa
sponsored cash prizes for the top finishers in two levels of compe-
tition, novice and training levels, and intermediate level and above.
