Uncovering your purpose for Your Next Chapter

It’s true, we all have a purpose we are here to fulfill. And yet there’s no need to get all tied up
in knots over trying to discover exactly what that is.
Your purpose doesn’t have to arrive in a trumpets blasting, front page news coverage sort of
way (although it might for some).
It is actually far more likely to be a quieter unfolding, an evolution, if you like. Wondering
how you connect to it? I’ve found it helps to ask yourself the series of questions I’ve
compiled into this resource for you.
You are naturally drawn towards the things that:

you love
matter to you
come to you easily
capture your curiosity
you could do for hours
touch your heart or inspire you
you stand for, believe in and want for yourself and others
These are all part of the mosaic of you and are deeply weaved into your purpose.
But please consider this - your purpose is not your business. Your business is not your
purpose. Rather, your business is just one way in which you express your purpose.

We often get those two confused. And that’s when we can trip ourselves up, getting tangled in
thoughts like:

Am I really doing what I was born to do?
Is this my soul purpose?
Why can’t I just find the thing I am meant to be doing once and for all?
Please take a deep breath and relax. You definitely want to build your business as an extension
of your purpose. You certainly want to weave your values into your services and your style and
the way you work with clients.

But I do want to release you from the pressure of your business being your purpose and the
need to get it right. There is no ordained right way or approach or outcome that you need to
live up too. It’s just what’s right for you. After all, a Next Chapter business is one where you feel
fulfilled by what you do.

There are important questions to ask yourself

The prompts in this workbook are designed to get you thinking and recognising what it is that
inspires you, captures your emotions and lights you up.
You can then weave this into the core of your business alongside your values, your skills, your
desires and your experience.
It’s a starting point to create your Next Chapter, or to realign you and your business with a new
vision that is emerging as a part of your ongoing story.
Please take some time to complete these questions. I encourage you to journal about them. Get
out of your usual environment if you can – fresh surroundings can lead to fresh ideas and
insights.

What did you most love to do when you were young (this is likely to be when
time flew by and you found yourself returning to these activities again and
again)

Create a Personal Purpose Statement – it may be simple or detailed, but it
need not be perfect. For example, my current Purpose Statement is:

“My purpose is to help every person I spend time with to believe a little more in themselves
and their ability to do that thing they most want to do”.
This is true in my life and my business. I take it a step further in my business, focusing on
women in their 40;s and beyond where that thing they most want to do it to create,
revitalise or expand a service based business. I help specifically by providing programs and
experiences to support the pursuit of that goal.

What will your Purpose statement be?

The evolution questions:

Your answers to these questions can form the basis of your business that evolves from your
Purpose Statement – I have included my answers below so you can see how they show up in
my own business model.

1.What do you really, really want for yourself and your business?

To feel I am making a valuable, useful contribution. To feel fulfilled and connected with my
clients. To be constantly learning and stretching and growing and to be sharing what I learn
with my audience.

2.If you could design the ideal business, what would it look like?

It would involve a combination of group and face-to-face work with a sprinkling of self-study
products. There would be price points and support levels to meet women wherever they are in
terms of need and budget.

3.What is unique about your business or positioning?

I cater primarily to women in their 40’s and beyond in service based businesses.

4.What is the core issue/s you will offer a solution to?

Self-belief, as too many women doubt their value and skills. Then I address business models,
marketing and sales. I also tackle isolation as too many women work by themselves and that
leads to the Comparison Trap and subsequent self-doubt that keeps them not reaching their
true, unique potential.

5.Who are you most called to provide this solution too?

The 40+ demographic, women with the desire to contribute and who feel, as I do, that profit is
the result of right actions and that fulfilment and self-actualisation is important.

6.What products, programs, services or experiences will you offer?

A Podcast, Self-confidence books and classes, small group programs, Masterminds and
Retreats for business development.

7. How BIG does your vision feel? Local? National? International?

Primarily Australia and then New Zealand, with a smaller worldwide audience.

What do I believe?

Have you ever felt that you’re here for something more, to
contribute in a bigger way to the world?
I believe that for too long women have been comparing
themselves to others and believing that their story and
experience is not enough, that they’re not growing fast
enough, that their contribution is not significant enough.
The truth is you don’t need to compete, with anyone. I’ve
found that when you step out of the comparison zone and
focus on your own unique background, values and
experience, your purpose and potential is right there,
waiting for you to claim it.
Over the past 15 years I’ve had my own business and helped hundreds of people create,
revitalise and expand their own. But I had to untangle myself from expectations and beliefs
around what I should and could do before I could fully step into my business purpose.
This is why I’m committed to anchoring women in their worth, helping them to escape the
Comparison Trap and make peace with their own Inner Critic so they see what’s possible for
them and trust themselves to build the Next Chapter Business they truly want, that’s fully in
alignment with who they are.
I’m convinced of the importance of creating your vision, owning your worth and trusting your
intuition before we tackle and master the marketing and sales side of business.

more important than ever.
