Briefing for French Trip
June 11th -15th 2018

Staffing

∗ There are five members of staff
accompanying the children:

Tour Leader: Miss Lewis
Teachers: Mr Cantillon
LSAs: Mrs Spraget, Mrs Stronach,
Mrs Talbot
Parent: Miss Para

Monday 11th June 2018

Leaving and returning from Sainsbury’s car park
∗ There will be one double decker coach – East Yorkshire Coaches.
∗ Children in small groups of 9/10.
∗ Each group supervised by a member of staff.

Responsibilities:

 Children’s safety
 Supervision on the ferry
 Giving out pocket money, (The bank!)
 Checking children onto the coach
 Keeping a pastoral oversight
 Walking through towns and villages

Monday 11th June 2018

∗ 02:15: (AM)
∗ Coach arrives at Sainsbury’s 02:30
∗ Load luggage and equipment onto coaches at Sainsburys.
(Luggage cannot be accessed again until we arrive at destination).

∗ HAND LUGGAGE must be kept with you at all times.

∗ Contents:

∗ Breakfast / food for the journey (no rich foods!)
∗ Drink (refillable water bottle no fizzy drinks or glass bottles), sweets for

the journey (no chocolate)
∗ Hand–held games (child’s responsibility)
∗ Camera (no mobile phones)
∗ Coat / hat
∗ Sun cream (hopefully!)
∗ Spare top/bottoms in case of accidents.

∗ Children do not board a coach until told to do so by group
leader ensure checked off their register.

∗ Once registered and on board coach children cannot get off!

Monday 11th June 2018

∗ Leave for Poole – stopping for a toilet break at motorway services

∗ 07:00

∗ Report at ferry terminal - Poole.
∗ Eat breakfast at ferry terminal.
∗ When boarding the ferry – take your hand luggage with you.

∗ 08:30

∗ Set sail for France

∗ 13:45 (local time)

∗ Arrive at Cherbourg
∗ 17:00 (approx)

∗ Arrive at centre – Bernieres – Sur-Mer

On Arrival

∗ Text to parents to inform of safe arrival (make sure you’re
signed up!)

∗ Children allocated rooms and unpack
∗ Shower training!
∗ Meet in classroom or front lawn for orientation: explain house

rules, fire drill/safety aspects and pastoral care advice
∗ Evening meal
∗ First visit to the beach!!!
