Briefing for PGL Trip
October 9th -11th 2019

Why a residential?

Why every child deserves a residential?

Why a residential?

5 Big Reasons:
• Independence: Bringing children out of their comfort zone’

• Confidence: Experiencing success in the great outdoors.

• Resilience: Conquering a fear of heights on a climbing wall, rebuilding
a raft at the fourth attempt or tackling a challenge course all help
create the resilience and determination.

• Tolerance: Living together as part of a community, sharing space
and eating together.

• Emotional wellbeing: Being outdoors and close to nature helps put the
mind at ease

2 nights and 3 days bed

Heading off Day…

 Arrive at school normal time
 Leave school approximately 10 am
 Arrive at centre - Welcome meeting and eat packed lunch
 Activity session 4
 Activity session 5
 Dinner 5.30 – 7pm
 Evening activity 7-9pm
 End of day meeting and commendations before bed.

Next Steps…

 Return slip with deposit – all children received a letter
outlining details.

 Payment can be either in one off payment or
scheduled payments.

 A full kit list will be issued closer to the time.

Some pointers…

A full kit list will be issued, however, it is good to thing about
saving some clothes…

 Old clothing which can get wet and muddy – throw away!
 Warm and waterproof coat and trousers (not shower-proof

/ plastic bag poncho)
 Sturdy trainers with good grips
 Soft holdall/sports bag, no suitcases
