ACTIVITIES
ACTIVITY 1
This are the steps!
1.Students will read a short story and students need to
understand what the story is about.
2.Each student will give their own understanding based
on the story.
3.Next, the teacher asks the students to do a role play
based on the story but different endings.
4.Students will be divided into 4 groups and each group
needs to create a new ending for the short story
5.Students will be given 10 minutes for the presentation.
6.Students will need to present their role play in the
class. 3
ACTIVITY 2
This are the steps!
1.Pupils need to read through the short story along with
understanding the story
2.They will be given a task individually
3.The students required to create a “Tree map” about the
characters involved in the short story creatively
4.Then, they will need to choose one of their favourite
character in the short story and give reasons of why they
choose particular character in a short paragraph form
5.Time given is 25 minutes
6.Once the task is completed, teacher will randomly pick
out names to present their work 4
ACTIVITY 3
This are the steps!
1.Students will be divided into groups of 3 and take out their
literature book of Tanjung Rhu.
2.Each group is given 15 minutes to read through the short story
and identify all the characters and their characteristics in the
short story.
3.Teacher will prepare a draw lots for the students which consist of
the characters from the short story.
4.A representative from each group will draw the lots and have to
act and describe briefly the characters that they get. She/he will
only have 3 minutes to act out and describe the character.
5.While , other groups will need to guess the character that is being
acted out.
6.The group that guessed correctly will score a point. 5
ACTIVITY 4
This are the steps!
1.Before the teacher starts the class teacher will use a spinning
wheel to determine which students will be reading the video text.
2.After deciding at least 4 students from each group, the teacher
will start playing the video and the students have to read it
simultaneously.
3.The students then have to take note of the character that is
presented in the short story.
4.The students have to describe the character and present it in a
very creative way.
5.The students can choose to present it in news reading, podcast,
reels or just a video.
6.Teacher will evaluate the best presenter and the most exact
description from all the pairs. 6
ACTIVITY 5
This are the steps!
1.Students have to read the short story given by the teacher.
2.Once they finish the short story, the teacher will form them into
groups of five or six.
3.Teacher gives each group a piece of Mahjong paper and a few
markers.
4.Teacher asks the students to find out social and physical settings
in the short story and do a mind map.
5.Students will be given 25 minutes to discuss and do the mind map.
6.Once they are done, each group has to come in front and present
their mind map. 7

ACTIVITY 1
This are the steps!
1.Each student has to read the short story given by the
teacher.
2.Each student will give their own understanding based
on the story.
3.Next, the teacher asks the students to find any words
which are unfamiliar and unheard of.
4.Then, students will create a sentence based on the
words that they find in the story.
5.Students will be given 16 minutes to finish the work
and present for 2 minutes in front of the class. 9
ACTIVITY 2
This are the steps!
1.Teacher will play a Youtube graphic video about the short
story “Tanjung Rhu”
2.The pupils then divided into pairs and they are asked to
look for different literary texts from the story based on
their understanding from prior knowledge (teacher decides
element for each pair)
3.Teacher provides them with padlet link to post their
answer
4.Time given for the task is 25 minutes
5.Once the task completed, the pupils need to present their
own work
6.Teacher discuss the actual answer with the pupils 10
ACTIVITY 3
This are the steps!
1.Students will read the short story given for a few minutes.
2. Students and teachers will discuss the short story with the
students.
3.Students will answer 3 questions while discussing :
What is the short story all about?
What is the moral value you gain?
Do you like the story?
4.After the discussion, students will answer questions in google
form given by the teacher.
5.Before the class session ends students will present their
answer to the class.

ACTIVITY 4
This are the steps!
1.Students will be given a Tanjung Rhu short story by the
teacher.
2.Students have to read the short story for a few minutes.
3.After they have finished reading the short story, the
teacher will ask them a few questions about the ending of
the story.
4.Teacher asks the students to write their own ending for
the Tanjung Rhu short story.
5.Before the class session ends, the students have to present
their work to their friends and share their amazing ending
story for Tanjung Rhu short story.

ACTIVITY 5
This are the steps!
1.Students will be divided into pairs and they will need to go
through the short story of Tanjung Rhu.
2.Teacher will explain to the students regarding the
dramatic structure.
3.Students will be given 10 minutes to discuss the plot and
key events in the short story.
4.Students will need to use the dramatic structure
(exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and
resolution) to describe the plot and the key events.
5.Lastly, students will have to post and present their
answers on the Padlet provided by the teacher.
